BBC ID - the new comment system
The BBC has a new blog sign-in called BBC iD. If you add a comment from now on you'll be prompted to upgrade your account(s). You only have to do it once and it should be quick.
One note of caution though: if you've got multiple BBC accounts, you'll only be able to upgrade one of them to BBC iD using your preferred username and email address.
If you have any questions or need a hand, you can get help over at the BBC Internet blog

Maybe I missed the relevant Blog Article, but, is there any genuine technical or administrative reason for the change?
It has simply complicated matters for a good many who use the BBC Blog sites.
Any chance of Publishing how much the change cost the BBC (or, more precisely, the License Fee payer): You know the 'Technical' expertise, the 'time' it took to put it in place etc.?
Will it mean less of those infamous 'technical glitches' that seem to unfortunately occur when the prevailing Content of the majority of Comments is running against the BBC's equally infamous Political Correctness Editorial Policies?

Hi cool_brush_work, I'm not able to answer your question directly myself, but if you post it on the BBC internet blog, as advised, they should be better placed to answer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2009/10/welcome_to_bbc_id.html
I've forwarded your query on to them as well so that they are aware of it.

# 1 Hi Cool
The posts covering why we've done it and update to how the upgrade is going are here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/bbc_id/
We'll be publishing more info and responding to comments on the Internet blog.
Also have a look at the 'About BBC iD' FAQs which are here:
https://id.bbc.co.uk/users/help#id-help-bbcid
Hope that helps.
