Show Notes: Davos, Diggnation and Drogbacite

Alas our revels now are ended (so we'll have to start on the Rolos) but you can listen to the 7-day what-still-no-podcast archive here. Tonight's show is a little different. It's audience week on Five Live so we thought we'd take as our top 3 stories subjects voted for by users of Social News site Digg. So with that in mind here's the run-down:

  • A chat to Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht of Diggnation a podcast inspired by Digg

  • Kevin and Alex's story pick: the sound that's supposed to keep you awake as much as a cup of coffee hmm

  • My pick from Digg (briefly top of the Offbeat News Section), The ten most annoying alarm clocks. Big thanks to Professor Russell Foster who told us that waking up suddenly was very bad for the health (take note employers)

  • Top of Diggs politics section a story debunking an anti-Barack Obama smear campaign. That and the Hilary webchat discussed with Amanda Terkel of Think Progress

  • The Ivory Coast music craze Drogbacite (inspired by a Drogba's football skills) explained by Modal Minority

  • A simulcast on Blogtalkradio with Alan Levy and special guest Mick Fealty of Slugger O'Toole

  • Jeff Jarvis spoke about the Davos Conversation

  • And lastly we featured an interview with Mia Rose the young British artist who is currently the most subscribed singer on YouTube. UPDATE: I have altered this post as I've seen it referenced in ways I'm very uncomfortable with. For the record I think she's a really talented performer.

I have it on good authority from enquiries made by staff at MWH that there are now small undetectable specs cameras (average speed detection cameras) sited in both the north and south bore of the Blackwall tunnel. Apparently they are going live today. The speed limit for the tunnels are 30mph northbound and 40mph southbound. It would appear that Marlowe house have no knowledge of this and state it is TFL that have implemented it. Any offences for speeding through the tunnel would be raising funds of £100 per offence or £50 if paid promptly. They have not installed signs warning drivers of this speed trap and therfore would not be looking to hit drivers with a licence endorsement, just take the money from you.

I shall leave the questions why they are doing this to you to answer;. My thoughts are purely of revenue collecting. Further enquiries are being made as we speak. Please be very careful if you or friends and family use the tunnel regularly. Also be mindful if you are patrolling the tunnel at any time

I tried You Tube. Mia should be given a chance and You Tube is doing it.
