MySpace and Politics
Politicians in Arizona are engaging with MySpace according to this report While MySpace has also provided a fertile hunting ground for journalists trying to dig up dirt on the younger relatives of candidates as this report from California suggests, the same report also sees great potential for MySpace in the political sphere:
MySpace users can join groups of like-minded people, and the numbers can get huge: MySpace Democrats and MySpace Republicans each have nearly 50,000 members
What's the situation here? There's an opportunity for a good bit of citizen journalism on this if anyones interested in taking it on for next weeks programme.

I have seen some blogs discussing about the dirt on Bush and Clinton. I am also looking for some Blogs from Alternative Parties. Last but not least, I am also getting my digital camera ready for the 2006 US Elections.
Bets on the Tories jumping on the bandwagon anyone?
Thanks Roberto! Re the myspace post I was wondering not about political blogs _in general_ but as Keith puts it, parties jumping on the MySpace bandwaggon..seeing it as a useful campaigning tool
Cheers, Chris
Chris:
Thanks for your Post. I wanted to inform you that I submitted some photos via E Mail for use by Up All Night.
To Close the Cuba Subject: I took the liberty to E Mail the BBC some photos of Agencies in Miami Florida dedicated to tourism in Cuba and sending money to families in Cuba.
These "businesses" operate with the blessing of Castro and Washington. You can zoom in close to see "Viajes A Cuba"[Vacation in Cuba] Announcements.
One that stands out is Marazul [operated by Aruca]. [Aruca was a former political prisoner who converted to an emissary between Castro, Washington, and certain elements in the Cuban Diaspora Movement. He has also been accused of being a spy. Regardless, he has been raking profits in these agencies with Castro and Washington getting their commissions. No wonder these people make the Forbes 500 List]. Other companies such as Xael and Va Cuba stand out also. These were the result of secret agreements made in 1962 and 1977].
I did this at my own risk because I wanted my family in the BBC to know this detail. People talk about it but do nothing. I wanted to reveal these truths. Certain Republicans, Democrats, and even Communists have felt uneasy with what has been written but if Cuba [and the Cuban Community] wants to move forward, some things have to be revealed.
If something were to happen, I want to go down as a messenger of the reality that I lived in.
Changing the wavelength, [Now to talk about USA] I also sent a Photo of a Truck which had a Peace Sign. The Driver was an Independent. He even had an autoadhesive that said "One Human Nation" "Support the Warrior, Not The War". It was the Peace Sign that came out in the photo.
There is an increasing opposition to the war in Iraq. In fact, [according to an ABC News Article that I E Mailed to Up All Night], there is a concert in which Merle Haggard, the Dixie Chicks [Country], Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen [Rock and Roll] voicing their opposition to Bush and the War in Iraq by Music.
In closing, I was at Walgreens Pharmacy. [Walgreens is a Pharmacy or Chemist Apothecary in America]. This Walgreens Apothecary was located in the section of NW 17 Ave and NW 7 St in Miami Florida.
In the Greeting Card Stands, the Jewish New Year Cards were placed next to the Eid [Islamic] Cards. I could not take photos inside the apothecary because I did not want to stir a Hornet's Nest. But I mention it as surreal and in the background a song was being played, was the singer Sade interpreting : "Why Can't We Live Together".
I want to thank you and BBC Five Live for this post and for allowing me to give as much information. I want to dedicate to other things that are in the news.
Cheers from Miami Florida
Roberto
Chris:
I give BBC Five Live Up All Night to use ALL the photos taken by me for their news segments. I took these photos, these were my creation. I took the liberty of taking these photos so that certain truths can be revealed. I am also responsable for these photos.
Cheers from Miami Florida
Roberto
Chris: I wanted to thank you and BBC Five Live for allowing me to blog about Miami and Cuba. I sent some photos of businesses operated by the Representatives of Cuba's Government with the blessing of the USA. I also sent a photo of a Truck with a Peace Sign from an Independnent. Cheers. Roberto
Essembley.com is like a myspace for politics. I've found it a good place for flame free political discussion (people vote on resolutions) and hooking up with like minded people. They have an ideological compatibility rating system (which you can opt out of if you find it creepy) that tells you how similiar your opinions are to someone else.
Unfortunately it's not linked into the rest of the internet it feels like a little walled off. But I suspect that something like this will eventually take off big time, all it really needs is some .php programmers to get a bit ambitious and we'll probably see something like this take off on the blogosphere real soon now.
I am going to try Essembley.com
