A brilliant last line that speaks volumes!
Following Larry King with Piers Morgan is a bit like following Eddie Mair with Joe Pasquale.

Can you post up a link to your interview with Mr. Blair last night, Eddie? :o)

Eddie, (a little OT)
There had been lots of talk - some on Twitter but lots on Facebook (certain groups) and a comment on the beach, about the PM Theme tune.
The majority adored hearing it last night..
Is it coming back again?
I think it should.

3. jonnie
OT - Old Testament?
Anyway - if we had a proper referendum, I'd bet we wouldn't get the theme tune back! Perhaps we could tag it onto the AV referendum in May?

@3 Jonnie

OT = Off Topic (old Newsgroup speak)
Well the comments here strangely don't reflect those on the Facebook? ;-)
I still like a theme here and there - though it could need updating I agree.

"UPDATING!!!" Jonnie, I think not. What are you, some mouthpiece for the coalition? Is this some crazy plan they'll try to put into action now we've had the forests u-turn? "Bring back PM Theme Tune, played by a Volunteer Group of the not-currently-in-work with added rap lyrics and clog-dancing sound effects in fulfillment of pledge to widen appeal of Radio 4 to other age, ethnicity and geographical diversity groups". It was a brief footnote in the pre-election manifesto - trust you to find it!

LOL - I can see this thread will quickly be updated tomorrow. I hesitated after the 5 o'clock pips just incase.. but it wasn't to be :-(

For anyone confused at the previous comments - the link below is the theme tune that up until Diana the Princess of Wales died on the 31st of August 1997 was always played at the beginning of PM http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/news/ram/pm_sig1996.ram

Ah the PM Theme tune, a subject that can hijack any thread!
'Bring back the theme', come on chant 'Bring back the theme' Quick where's the nearest crowded square.. 'Bring back the theme'. Think about poor old Peter and Tony who wrote it.. think of all that lovely licence payer's lolly they would earn. Kerching! Then think about how Eddie would have to record the programme's intro every night to ensure hitting all the 'hit points'.
Second thoughts... Dick Barton!(ah caught out the studio chaps that time!)

Eddie Mair is the best thing to happen to Radio4 since Alan Coren. Wonder how he managed to convince the powers -that -be that the theme should be played following the Blair tragedy [no, not that one] The "bunch-of-flowers" yesterday was lovely, cheered me up on a dark, dismal day

Brief visit:
I missed the Nils announcement yesterday (pit-stop at petrol station).
Did Eddie ask Nils for his help removing that 40th anniversary banner from the top of BH?
