I listened with interest to your programme on looking for a care home, and feel there are a couple of points requiring comment.
I fully agree with the view that it is far better to look for a suitable home much earlier than one is needed.I shall at the age of 65 looki around myself at the options open to me should the need arise as my family is nuclear dispersed and I would not wish to be a burden on them.
There are also steps that can be taken to avoid your home being treated as capital asset to be sold to fund your care,individual circumstances differ widely and all these need to be planned some years prior to the need of care arising.My circumstances suit the non discetionary trust approach but seek legal advise for the one best suited to yourselves.
