Stewart - don't speak too soon... Wait till you've heard it first ;-)
Preston, we nearly sacked the sound recordist after he wiped our first attempt some months ago. However, the "new" version incorporates the surprise bonus tune, so it was probably all for the best anyway...
Lovely sound. "More tea, Mrs Fortescue? A quadrille, perchance, dear lady?" The sound is great - did you do it in that room? Just put a pair of mikes over the whole thing? Do tell.
Thank you all for the compliments. Must reiterate it was GM (who thought up the harmonies) & mpb as well as me, & thanks to Gillian for the photo too. I couldn't listen live because of rehearsal in cold church, but mpb heard it & reported back. I was so excited it was all I could do to restrain myself from telling the audience that night "I've been on PM tonight you know" but luckily I kept a lid on my enthusiasm. Anyway they might have been R3 listeners so not appreciative of the great honour we enjoyed...
Redheylin - it was indeed recorded in that little back room. Then treated by some magical programme on the computer- I know not what. Clever result though, isn't it?
Dear PM Team! Why wish for the moon when we have THE STARS? What would be so wrong with making this recording the permanent Upshares tune for as long as possible? For the first time in all this time, I genuinely enjoyed that tune and really want to hear it again, just like everybody else above. Please?! And while you are very kindly considering our request, what about bringing back Recent Comments - all the scrolling required now to get to the end of comments is doing my arthritis no good at all...
Well did anybody identify the mystery bonus extra tune? It took me at least several minutes to figure out how to weave it into the original music - someone must have noticed it??
No, sorry, missed that (35). It's another good reason to ask for a whole week of it. Sounds like a group effort; somebody doing the harmony; you contributing polyphonic enigmas.
If the engineer recorded the whole thing at once, not much computer magic can be done - perhaps a little tone-control, automatic volume control. The sound was great, anyhow - clean and detailed but not thin or harsh. You'd best forgive the data-wiping episode. And it's a nice hard room. Not carpet, not too much soft furnishing, Seems you even rolled up those thin net curtains. The harp must sound lovely in there. Well it did. Don't tell us the enigma, get them to play it again and we will write in. I cannot even think of anything that has the same chords.
Thank you everyone for all your lovely comments...despite only hearing such a short blast!
Annasee - Maybe we should offer a prize for the first person to correctly identify your clever incorporation of a second tune .... You are kind to credit me with the harmonies but I don't think they actually made an appearance in the bit they played!
Big Sis - just how old do you think I am??? (young enough to be DMN's niece, obviously, though having both GM & K as my daughters might be problematic...) I've never heard Mrs Dale's Diary! But I do know that Sidonie Goosens, who recorded it (unless it was her sister Marie), never got any royalties because she made it up on the spot & didn't write anything down!
Redheylin - but think how much those "couple of glissandi" could have made her over the years if she'd written them down! Wouldn't you be gnashing your teeth?

Wonderful! Can't wait to hear it! Annasee, you must tell us who the other two are.
Complain about this comment
Lady Sue, I think the other two are Gossipmistress and Miss Pooh Bear.

Where's the producer/sound recordist?
Complain about this comment
Yipeeeee Annasee! and GM and Miss PB (probably the youngest person to venture onto the Blog).

Yay! Can't wait, well done Sequin. And will it be available to share?
Hope there aren't any hens in the background?

What sort of extras are there on the DVD?

This should be a blast!
:-p

How many days chicken poo duty did the sound recordist have to do as penance, Annasee?

Thanks, Sequin ;o)

Personlly speaking, I think the harpist must have been up to no good. Her halo is three foot above her head and heading skywards!

Oooh!
Did you all have a conductor, who might be hiding behind the music-stand, down-left? Or a conducteress?
And you all, like most good classical musicians, not looking at them at all?
Looking forward to hearing it - when's the difficult second album coming out, Annaseed?
A :)

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, I loved it :o)

Yippee! Well worth the wait. I see you went for the half-lamp version...
;o)

Lovely annasee! Could have listened to that for ages and didn't think it went on for long enough.
You are getting plaudits on lots of threads tonight.

Lovely, Annaseed! Liked it a lot.
OF (17) : Half-lamp -?

Shame they cut it short - result of 'breaking news' I suspect.
Can we plead for a re-run?

A campaign for the return of recent comments AND more of today's Upshares theme, perhaps?
Complain about this comment
I'd go for both of those FranO - why does it need to be restricted to one day, could we not have that theme all next week?

I'm up for that, Valery!

Gorgeous sound, as Sequin said, very relaxing.

Ple-ease let's have it again next week? I don't think Annasee was able to listen live today, didn't she have a big concert on?

Seconding all of the above! It was lovely, but far too brief.

Those are actually my niece and her two daughters from Missouri.

davmcn - "Oh no they're not!"

@28 - what makes you say that?

Just adding my own message of appreciation. I made a point of listening, despite delays, and it was worth the wait.

(Clue - it was only in the harp part)

It was only a couple of glissandi. I thought it was by Debussy. Not really.
