Nigel Wrench writes: "Here's Oliver Postgate and his most famous creation in 1974 (picture copyright BBC). On PM this evening, an orchestral tribute to the work of Mr Postgate, who died in December last year. Some of the music to, among others, Bagpuss and Ivor the Engine, re-imagined by the North Sea Radio Orchestra, a group of contemporary chamber musicians. Bring back a few memories? More here.

This colour picture similar to the one Nigel has provided makes it easier to identify Bagpuss http://tinyurl.com/yzqo5sz

I remember only having a black and white telly box when I was a nipper, so I could spot Bagpuss nicely :)

I remember on the day when Oliver died someone wrote into PM to suggest that a Clanger should be put on 'the 4th plinth' as a tribute to him.

It's a great idea. One that I am sure everyone would relate to rather than the strange stuff that few people relate to.

Any chance PM could champion this...if you can change the way the weather is given on Radio 4 getting a Clanger on the 4th plinth will be easy.
