The PM Blog Beach is whatever you want it to be - a place to hang out with other bloggers, and be completely off topic. Over time it has developed its own identity, complete with camels, sand dunes, and a permanently stocked bar, but fundamentally it is a place to relax and have fun.

Hi DI_Wyman,
I am probably to blame for the unorthodox timings! I forgot to post a Beach last friday so did it on Monday. So I thought I'd do it properly this week.
However I am not to blame for the way the new blog has been playing around this week. Everytime I post something I'm told it's an error, and yet it then appears. Plus some links haven't come up cleanly. Maybe we just need Ed's fine touch to get it all back to scratch.

It's my fault your Beach has been appearing at unorthodox times - I forgot to post it last friday so thought I'd do it asap on Monday. Hopefully today you've got it on the right day!
As for the behaviour of the new blog - I've had issues too - and can't claim responsibility for that! I keep getting an error message whenever I post anything. And some links haven't posted correctly. Maybe we just need Ed's fine touch to straighten everything out next week.

Let's show everyone how much fun it can be, here on the Beach, before it disappears into the oubliette of 'Other posts', buried in an incoming tide of news posts.
Have you seen the cormorant sitting on the pole that marks the submerged rock outcrop 200 metres out?
Cormorants are too big for hedges, IA, but it is not unknown for the odd crested close relative of theirs to be observed in a thicket, where a big bird can cause quite a commotion.

Sequin - have a word with the blog gurus - your posts don't appear to have the "owner" shading, which might indicate they haven't set you up properly...
Meanwhile, the Categories are now working, so even when The Beach slips off the front page, it can easily be rescued from "Topical posts" or "Categories" below...

Barack Obama almost tripped up yesterday in that Italy meeting.
It is what we all do in life - I did it again today.
But with him - it is reported as an event. All over the world.
If he sat on this Beach - in this deck chair - said sitting implement would be on sale on Amazon by tomorrow. For thousands of dollars.
My posterior resting in it means nothing even though I am told I am ......
But never mind. Wearing new shorts today - look very silly but told it is fashionable. Jean Paul Gaultier is allegedly fashionable as a designer of clothes - but in my opinion he must not like women - making them wear that rubbish clothing seen yesterday. Comfortable it is not. Anyone actually see anyone in his stuff. No not Madonna's conical frontage?

Mansaylo Thanks, brekkie has arrived. I Think I have the hang of how Topical Posts on the bottom works. Its Today's posts followed by most postings over the last week followed by date order and most postings. So Last weeks beach is above Thursdays posts because of number of posts But Thursdays AM glass box is above The AM Glass box (Mondays) due to how soon.
Clear as mud that explanation.

Air Guitar (good title, Sequin), Beach version:
In a regretable accident (over ambitious sand castle construction) I broke my grandson's (Jake's) spade.
Despatched back to the caravan to get sunshade/cream, beach chairs etc, I forgot to pick up a new one at the Beach bucket shop.
Not a word said when I got back. Everyone looked happy enough. I only remembered later, after I got back from a quick paddle. Inscribed in the sand was
GRANDPA BROKE MY SPADE!
in huge letters, a very sad looking Jake sitting on the dot of the !.
He got a new bucket, too.
Sand pictures are good. In Sapin we used to carve bull fighters and cathedral bulls.
Here, slogans are good. 'No to Low Flying Jets' doesn't seem to work, though. The RAF fly even lower to read what we've said.

I have been monitored off again by the Beeb. Protecting me from lawyers I presume. Why bother? Protect me I mean. They are all too busy with celebs and possible law suits - not at me but directed elsewhere.

I hear there's not only a good crop of wild mushroom over there but there's a few chicken that manage to keep a low enough profile the camels don't pester them. Thought I'd see if there's enough to make mushroom omelette.

Afternoon Peeps, just back from a distant relations wedding and overnight stay at a really posh gaff in Hever. There was even a very nice young lady playing the Harp, sadly she wasn't the Frogging one!
Large amounts of fine food, fine wines and fine lagers were consumed and we all made merry to about 1am this morning.
So I now bag the sparkly hammock for the rest of the day. But please wake me when it is Pimms o'clock.

It's G & T O'clock and I need a large one, having undergone an interview today for the job I've been doing for the past 18 months. As this was the first interview I've had since 20 years ago, I found it extremely stressful. (Takes a large gulp of G & T). That's feeling better already. I think I'll have a top up and retire to the hammock slung up in the darkened cave.

@64: I'm curious. If you've already been in post 18 months, why did they decide to interview you now? Was it some form of appraisal process? (I know in the public sector, many permanent posts are subject to a 6 month trial period, during which time the conditions for dismissal are lighter than more seasoned staff).
I think I'll have a large one of whatever drink's on offer - today's been slow, but I'm still feeling tired from the weekend (family celebration thingy - yet most participants were complete strangers to me!) and yesterday's shock at being described as "Intelligent" by our resident troll (and quoted by him - not quite sure how to take it...)

Meanwhile, when I'm at home I'm starting to get addicted to the antics of the "Plinthers" down in Trafalgar Square. Among the more memorable are a bassoonist, someone leading the crowd in numerous renditions of "The Timewarp", a chap playing 'catch' with the crowd and half a dozen tennis balls, several human statues, someone having a BBQ up there (and, rather interestingly, lobbing the hot dogs towards the crowd below - AFAIK they were all caught and consumed), an almost silent disco (i.e. the music wasn't anywhere near a microphone and was drowned out by someone else's stereo) by a chap dressed up as a gorilla (plus other gorillas in the square below), and another chap who works in marketing attempting to work on the plinth...
Needless to say I've entered the competition for an hour up there - and in the unlikely event of winning a place, if my slot's in the daytime I'll blast out R4 to the crowds :)

mittfh I've been on contract for the last 18 months and they've had a reorganisation. The job has been regraded up another payband, so myself and 14 others, who have been in post longer than I, have had to go through the same process. It makes HR look good!!

Mornin' froggers. Got home yesterday after the day from hell, interview went reasonably well, (I think). We'll all know on Friday. My boss has already booked me and my colleague in for a celebratory lunch. I'm hoping he's not being too hopeful. The tension of the day released itself as I wept at the TV pictures of the coffins returning through Wootten Bassett. Being an ex squaddie, I look on every soldier as a mate.
Anyway,breakfast on the go, coffee perking away. Must get an industrial perculator, given the amount of coffee drunk on the beach. Assorted muffins also available today.
