...not laughing at Peter Mandelson. I've just heard him say that a lot more MPs will be paying back their expenses. Is this the same man who claimed for house repairs just after he resigned from Parliament? Surely he'll be banished by the election so that so that there will no need to laugh at him any more!

Yea Charlie, Good poet. You know he worked in a University library - just like me.
They *do da* you up your mum and dad. They may not mean to, but they do.
Still it could be worse, ask Johnny Cash, better known as the boy named Sue.
Da daaa. I thank you.

Except it would be a little difficult to ask Johnny though wouldn't it.
Don't blame you about giving up the instrument. Try getting to a gig on the tube....or on anything.

"A boy named Sue..."
Y'know fjd, life's strange.
When my mother was carrying me, I'm told, she hoped for a girl. And, her daughter's name was going to be Charlotte.
Instead, she got me!
Well, whoever said life was fair..?
My father's "duty", in those days, was to register my birth. I'm told, he and my mother agreed upon "my" name as Charles... A compromise (poor, I agree, but there we have it).
My father, however had other ideas and, registered me as ......
After himself and HIS male family members.
My mother by all accounts was furious!
Nevertheless, from the day of my birth Mother and, everyone else, has called me "Charlie"
Yet "my" documentation, refers to me as ......
You've no idea (I guess) of the problems all of this has caused me...

Charlie: you entice us but don't tell us your "real" name.
fJd@21: I'm presuming the "boy named Sue" is not a crack aimed in my direction?

Given the situation I find myself in, I'm no longer sure (if I ever was) what my "real" name is...

Charlie: Be grateful you weren't given the name of Primrose. I know somebody (a man) who was given this as a middle name, in order, I believe, to keep some family tradition going. However, he had to face the embarrassment of saying this aloud on many occasions, beginning at school, before his colleagues and others. I admire him for having stayed the course!

GB is incorrigible.
He's at it today again. You'd think he's learn his lesson. He edicts that EVERY MP will be brought in front of a Star chamber of the commons and will have to account for evry penny of spending.
I hope he has a consensus for this, this time. Last time he came over all decisive he had not got the agreement of the opposition parties and had to recant in entirety.......by the way, Has F Goodwin been taken to court yet as promised by Harriet Harman, no, of course he hasn't.
This Govt. is coming crashing to the ground like a Junkers bomber.

Let's try that again without the 'offending word':
I've decided that Brown's full name is Gordon 'Wait and See' Brown. He was so frustrating on the Andrew Marr show with that smirk. And Marr could hardly shut him up to ask another question. You'd think it was all his idea to expose the expense scandal and The Telegraph only beat him to it by a couple of weeks. But he didn't want to discuss individual (ie, Labour cabinet members) MP's expenses.
I taped the Cameron interview, but haven't watched it yet. Probably more waffle.
I heard Mandelson slag off Cameron for his expenses and then said that it was only political posturing (or something like that) for Cable and Clegg to question Labour MPs' expenses and that it was beneath them to do so.

No, as far as I know. you are witness to a slight miss understanding that really means nothing. Don't worry.

I've clean forgotten what the financial scandal was that led to Mandelson leaving the first time -- or was it the second?

I, mittfh, hereby declare that I will stop believing politicians (of all colours and none) will do anything useful for the country at the next election...
...unless they are forced to reveal the details of *all* their income (including business interests - which would hit the Blues even harder than gardening interests!)...
...and are prohibited from employing accountants to help them 'hide' their wealth from HMRC...
...hell, and are prohibited from owning offshore accounts to boot :)
...and any other conditions I think of in the meantime :D

I will stop voting Tory, Labour or Lib Dem at the next election.

I shall stop listening or reading biased BBC comments... for example: Precise number and vauge words and implied difference ....and I quote:
"Five Labour MPs have been banned by the party from standing at the next election due to questionable claims while a number of Tory MPs have been forced to stand down at the next election because of their conduct. "
Get your act together BBC writers and reporters.
Bias is unjust and suggests that the writers are seeking to move opinion and affect voting action.
THAT IS WRONG.. reporting should be impartial.. do you all understand that word?
Think about it!
