"Mewish and Nadia, physics students at Qaid-e-Azzam university. They told me military action was the only way to deal with the Taleban.

And here's their beautiful campus:

And this is their Physics professor, Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy:

He says a radio station run by the Islamabad Red Mosque has threatened some of his women students with acid attacks for not covering their faces. He believes the fundamentalist mullahs should be take to court for breaking the law.

The 'UPS' photograph is telling. Because of incessant power cuts here, sellers of Uninterrupted Power Supply units are doing brisk business. You can also buy rechargeable electric fans and reading lamps."

Well, I like your pictures, Hugh, even if nobody else will say so. I particularly admire the way you catch interesting social details. That's what I try to do with my pics too (because my attempts to be arty are rubbish).

Gillianian - indeed we do! Aren't they, once again, just fabulous? Loved the lads playing cricket, loved them all.

Thankyou for taking the trouble to give us such wonderful visual images to go with your reports Hugh.

This is definitely now on my list of places to go. Thanks, Hugh, for shining a light on Islamabad.

Lady Sue: I agree about the cricket photo - but they're all wonderful.

er, that last image crept into my outbox without me noticing.

    It's not Islamabad.

The clue is in and around the word 'leafy'.

It is the main street in Talagang - which is not leafy. But it is lively.

That explains a lot, Hugh. Thanks!

Hugh they are such lovely photos - I've looked at them again (twice) this morning. I hope you are planning a book of some kind? 'Life of a Roving Reporter' not to be solely a weighty tome but to include masses of photos?

If I could find a publisher who would agree to loads of photos and not too many words, I'd do it.

    There are some...

Have you, I wonder, spoken to Lord David Owen's wife..? She's good. Very good indeed.

Maybe, your medium should be presented on TV/DVD?

    She'll give an opinion...

Hugh: I'm sure there are publishers out there who'd be interested - and you can print off the many requests you've already had here for you to publish as evidence of demand.

Alternatively, how about a DVD of your reports, illustrated by your photos? Have you got recordings? Why not try it out and see how it would look? Or transcripts of your reports, illustrated by the photos? You've got the words there already, Hugh - and both they, and the pictures, are fabulous!
