"Eddie, I don't think I sent this before. St Albans Mummers several years ago on Boxing Day. That is me, the Turkish Knight, on the ground. David McNickle".
I want to scratch my nose. Can PM tell me how to get in touch with the Barclays' Guernsey lawyer, so he can check with his clients to see if that is alright?
Quote from a newspaper piece just read
"Gordon Dawes, the Barclays' Guernsey lawyer, said: "Sark will go back to what it was before the Barclays came and invested. The people of Sark have sent the Barclays a clear message and they feel they cannot work in a place where there is such an anti feeling against them.
"The true sadness of it all is that the real loser will be Sark and, in particular, its workforce. But the Barclay family cannot be expected to continue investing at the rate of £5m per annum. I find it very hard, particularly at this time of year, not to wonder about the old saying to do with turkeys and whether or not they would vote for Christmas; well it seems we have our answer. I am genuinely saddened. The people of Sark have spoken." Unquote
Yup. I don't see the "yaboo sucks!" mentioned but it seems to be they following Sark voicing a view.
So Eddie a PM piece with said permission or denial included please.
DMcN @ 2, congratulations! Your second photograph in the Advent Calendar series. Boy, you must be as pleased as Punch. :-)
SP @ 1, what I want to know is, if two businessmen in say Solihull produced a newspaper piece in which they very publicly told their employees 'Vote the way we tell you in this general election or we will shut the business you work in and put you out of work', would they be liable to face legal action? Isn't that intimidation, or undue influence, or some such?
(If the Glass Box is for discussion only of the way in which things have been presented in the PM programme, discussion of things that didn't appear on the show has to be somewhere else, i think, and this is the next thread down from the Glass Box.)
I'd have liked to hear a bit more about the Barclay Brothers and their influence on Sark.
What I know all comes from Private Eye, and with all due respect to Lord Gnome's minions, there's a remote chance they may be the teensiest bit biased from time to time...
(Not from what I heard in the report though, their picture of the Barclays seems spot on.)
I sent in a lovely photo of our Yuletide Rodent but it hasn't appeared either - though I have been fortunate enough to have one photo selected already.
The Yuletide Rodent sits under the tree every year as a symbol of my true Christmas sentiments. He looks like a big rat in a Santa skirt but I'm very fond of him.
David: Apologies - though, to be sure, it has been used now. And I was understandably confused by your comment to Eddie ("I don't think I sent this before" - You see the problem?)

C_G 6, And that's only this year. I had three last year. Maybe one more....
No animals were injured while producing the above painting. OK, maybe the Dragon.

11: From the newsletter, Eddie's sounding a bit desperate - which would account for all the recycled Christmas cards (Yes, David McN, I mean YOU!)
But - Where is yours?

An important point in the present climate.
Are UK Gift Vouchers treated the same way I wonder...
"Generally, gift card holders are considered "unsecured creditors" unless provisions are made for the store to continue redeeming the cards."

BS 13, That isn't a recycled Christmas card. It is brand new and has never been used.
I should mention that the picture was painted by Peter Coombs and donated to use on a charity Christmas card.
