Is this some kind of April Fool joke ?

What is the point of putting a programme like this out at the unearthly hour of 5.45 in the MORNING !? This had only clicked with me just now !

I used to work with people who despite working in an office insisted on waking up to 'Farming Today', and boy did I feel very sorry for them..

But this is on a weekend. If anyone is up at that hour on a Saturday morning they must surely need their heads tested.

Is this some kind of prank by the BBC scheduling department ? Have people presenting this show been very naughty and this is the punishment ?

Or is the show planning on being very risque in a 'Ross/Brand' style, or going to deliver very bad news about the economy, or give us the secret to eternal happiness, and wanting only the elite 'larks' to share in this exclusive ?

Do I need my head tested? I wake up around 5-5:30am every morning. Is my body-clock a psychological problem?

I like to get round the shops early before the crowds clog them up. I leave the house at 7:30am on a Saturday (after getting some quiet housework done). Should I consult a psychiatrist about getting home with the shopping around 9:30 (not bad without a car) and having the rest of the weekend from then on free?

I admit that these days I avoid "Moaning Today", but I do like to hear the world headlines before R4 takes over from the WS.

I've a suspicion that the timing of the programme may have something to do with Evan Davies and the Credit Crunch. His programme is now in the slot usually reserved for iPM.

Either that or Eddie owes the Beeb some overtime.

SSC - if you're anywhere near Royal College today, avoid the lift. TD got stuck in it this morning and wishes she hadn't watched that episode of Casualty a few years ago......

5.45am? Well I used to get up then when TD was still at home and had an early start to get to school, but now that she's moved on I don't ever want to be out and about at that time if I can help it.

    SSC - Housework ? Shopping ?

I don't think you need to get your head tested, but maybe to get a life rather more abundant in fun - nothing really interesting happens in the morning, and by the time the real excitement starts, you must surely be ready for bed ?

As for iPM, can't they just fess up to this 'scheduling error', which is surely due only to someone using the 24-hour clock, and so mis-interpreting a request to schedule it at 5.45 PM [which they perhaps took to be the prog name..]

Thankfully I don't watch Casualty, so I wouldn't be bothered by whatever it was. I hope TD wasn't too irked.

Thanks for the warning, but I've never used the lifts in the Royal College - I'm not sure I even knew there were lifts there! For those who don't know this University, the Royal College dates back to the turn of the *last* century and would give MC Escher a headache. There seem to be more corridors than could possibly fit in the space, light wells larger than many of the lecture theatres, and rooms up half-flights of stairs at odd angles to everything else. I love it.

SSC - thanks, she got over it - well not over the lift you understand, she got *out* of that eventually.

During the tale she actually described the getting from RC to JW pretty much the same way as you just have - unfathomable and with incorrectly numbered rooms.
