Food.
Rory Dryden sends: "Mackeral, leeks, carrots, potatoes and fruit for tea tonight."
Charles sends mince and tatties "from the combine":
Ben Newsam writes: "You wanted pictures of food: here you go. It is macaroni cheese with mashed potato, peas, and a dollop of ketchup. I can feel the pounds falling away already!"
Ivor is very creative. He sent this: "No Eddie they are not maggots these are the beans I am using in my tea":

and this second "artistic version":

We never know what creativity our invitations will inspire. There's Ivor's stuff and then there's this from Allan Davies in Thornbury in South Gloucestershire. "It's not my dinner/tea but this visitor on my lawn this afternoon took over an hour to consume this pigeon. Hope he/she returns tomorrow, there is an excess of the damn feathered rats here."
We also got this:
Carol Walters writes: "Here's our dinner tonight. Beef curry (Madras) with brown basmati rice. 'Hope yours is as nice!"
Ray Allen sends: "9 minutes to six just too late.....salmon en croute... if I'd had the 'before' snap would have probably cooked/consumed twice as much!"
And Chris Jones said: "Here's my evening meal. I've just found a few cooked but cold new potatoes in the fridge, and I may heat those to have with it."

It may seem churlish to ask, but is there in fact any particular point to all these threads called 'food' and pictures of people's meals? If there is, what is it, and if there isn't, when do you plan to stop having them?

Yes there is a point. Try clicking on SPECIAL: Food on the right of the page for the origin of the story. We'll stop when we've done them all. Hugs.

Eddie 3, Don't forget my gourmet snack.

We're having fish pie tonight, but mashed potatoes don't make for a very exciting photograph. Maybe with a sprig of parsley on top.

We're having cauliflower cheese with potatoes and carrots and possibly a few frozen peas (well they won't be frozen when we eat them) to give some nice colour!

tncl 7, Do all Brits say 'cauliflower cheese' and all Americans 'cauliflower and cheese'? (Same with macaroni.)

Either those peas in photo three are overcooked or they are like those served in France from a tin.

David (8) didn't know that Americans called it cauliflower 'and', but for the Brits, yes. Agree about the peas, though you can get them in tins or jars here too.

Anne P 10, The first time (1972) I bought a tin of peas in England I was shocked to see that they were dyed bright green. I was used to the grey-green color.
