It is great that there is series on alcohol a drug that for some of us sooner or later stops working. AA is not for everyone but for any one who has tried it and decided it was not for them I would urge them to return. There was thirteen years betwqeen my second and third meetings. It was bad enough when I first went and thirteen years later I was a physical mental and spiritual mess. There was no where else to go and things were bad enough for me to give it a go having tried many other therapies. I had drunk my way out of a carrer relationships and sanity. I have got those now along wiith a contentment that was never possible before. This all sounds a little evangelcal but it just what happened.

    To clarify my first comment.

The first part of this series transmitted on Monday was less enlightening than the worst Trisha broadcast I've yet to hear.

I missed today's part - but either way, if it's helped you, then it's worthy of being there.

Jonnie: At a guess - and by the number of comments posted on the various threads relating to alcohol - I'd say the series is being very useful.

I guess it's always the way that, if we don't share the problem ourselves, it's tempting to say 'Am I bovvered?' But, having worked in public health, I know the figures are pretty frightening,.

We all know that talking about a problem involving a substance that the majority of us use touches some raw nerves, which is why this series is so important as it lays the matter on the table and gives people permission to discuss it.

On another topic, would you like some high class marmalade for your hotel?
