Sequin, I hope you're carrying on the tradition of making the first question: "So are you holding your Golden Joystick right now?"

Sequin you know perfectly well that this 51 year old is an avid gamer! There are lots of us.

This must be my anniversary on the blog as I joined in the frolics as a result of last year's Golden Joystick awards Oblivion!

Next year I predict that Fallout 3 (not released yet) will take home the Joystick.

The spirit of GamesMaster lives on....

In other gaming news, I have this week been playing Portal, the latest work of genius to emerge from the offices of Valve. Funny, clever, original, thoughtful, and did I mention funny? And the song at the end is simply outstanding (I won't link, because it contains spoilers).

It's a first person type game. But it's a completely puzzle based game - you don't get to kill aliens or anything. Instead you get a "portal gun" - which fires a sort of gateway or wormhole. You go in one end and come out the other: on say a ledge or platform which you wouldn't be able to get to by normal movement. You have to use this to solve various puzzles and learn physics-bending tricks. The only other voice you hear is that of the computer controlling the facility...which isn't necessarily on your side... See the trailer here : http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oeUjVkJ7seY

Electric Dragon I must get this game. I've heard great things about it! I'm mostly playing Zelda and the Phantom Hourglass and looking forward to Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, Super Mario Galaxy and lots of other stuff!

The "system" (for its own unfathomable reasons) corrupted my SERVICE

And gave me a lot of 502's

As to mature gamers, some of us have been playing a 'real' game, watching GME (who sell the games) go from $7 to $58 since Nov 2004. My granny's gift of $3000 is now worth $24,000. Nice one, Granny!
