Why don't we have a register of people who assault their partners? These people (almost entirely men) are often serially violent to a series of partners who don't know about their violent past, the other traumatised women and children.
Given that domestic violence is such a serious matter, the provision of a list might protect some women, at least.
Recorder Featherby, the judge in the case, doesn't seem to understand how awful it is to live with a violent partner.Maybe someone should tell him.
and it's one of the largest cut diamonds in existence.
Diamonds are always given romantic sounding names. So why is there no 'Star of Bognor' then? Or 'Koh-i-Stockport'. If it makes its way to this country after sale might it become the 'Paddington Green'?
It'll be fascinating to see what becomes of it if it's genuine. The Cullinan (current record holder for a rough diamond) was less than half this weight. When the worlds finest cutter finally make the first split he had studied it for over six months. He had a doctor and a nurse present at the event and having made the blow to split it he promptly fainted without seeing the results of his craft (it was a success!).
Personally I'm sceptical, but that's me all over....
