For a few minutes on Thursday I thought my Games were over. I have come to really appreciate just how incredible the human body is!
My time in Macau was very well spent. I did a few PBs in training (sprinting and lifting) so now I am in the best physical and technical shape of my life.
Unfortunately I picked up a tummy bug on Wednesday, but with the help of the docs, nutritionists and a few antibiotics I have managed to get over it pretty quickly.

I arrived in the Olympic village on Friday night so I've got my bearings now. It is slightly smaller than Athens as they have built upwards. The village has a great flow to it, with its
water garden walkways and paths. It is very 'Feng Shui' and surprisingly relaxed.
I am sharing a room with Liz Yelling so watching her marathon was hard, especially with her fall. She looked absolutely fantastic up until that point. I think she did remarkably well to finish the race.
The whole GB team is doing fantastically well. We are creeping up the medals table so the momentum is building towards an epic finish and a fantastic atmosphere.
The athletics has finally started and the stadium is amazing. It is actually more spectacular than it looks on the TV. I think it rubbed off on Usain Bolt - what a performance and just think what he might have run if he had ran past 80m! I dread to think what the Jamaicans are capable of in the relay!
I am looking forward to getting going as I am one of the last to start. I haven't thought beyond the qualifying round on Tuesday morning (0200 BST), but judging by my training, I am hoping it will all go to plan. Fingers crossed!

Really looking forward to seeing you in the finals, Goldie. My brother Dej Mahoney and I are good friends of the Richard and Jane Youdale, and they told us that you would be out here competing as soon as they knew that we were coming to Beijing to watch the Olympics. We will be rooting for you all the way. Good luck!!!

Good luck Goldie!
Germaine Mason and Tasha Danvers had about the same chance of medalling as you do.
They believed. They did it.
I believe you can too.

Dear Goldie, that was a HUGE achievement -
very,very Well Done!!
I know you will be disappointed with fourth place ( you are very tough on yourself ) but
but we are all enormously proud of you.
Not only in your placing ( in an OLYMPIC FINAL no less !!) and your new GB record, but in the dignified and pleasant way you conduct yourself afterwards. No self pity for you.
Please be very proud of what you have
done. You can build on this for 2012 and then who knows ??
With Much Love,
ThemBakers xx
