#DaftPunk6Music - Help pick the Ultimate Daft Punk Playist
Has there been more hype for an album? Random Access Memories by Daft Punk has the expectation of the dance music world on it’s shoulders – and, given the two 15-second adverts which were aired during Saturday Night Live in the US and then the extended promo last weekend on TV and during Coachella, it seems the anticipation is warranted.
So this Sunday on Now Playing we are asking you to help us create the Ultimate Daft Punk Playlist for two hours.
The French duo shocked the electronic music world in 1995 when it emerged the people behind underground smash Da Funk were in fact two young faced boys – and ever since Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo have never looked back.
Albums like Discovery and Homework are regarded as two of the best ever made in dance, and when their Pyramid was first unveiled it suddenly became evident the way electronic music was performed live had changed forever.
For the playlist you could pick:
* Your favourite Daft Punk track, B-side, remix or rariety
* Something from one of the Random Access Memories collaborators – Nile Rodgers, Julian Casablancas, Todd Edwards, Giorgio Moroder and many others
* Some of their national compatriots like Justice, DJ Mehdi, Brodinski and Laurent Garnier
Their influences are quoted as The Rolling Stones and The Beach Boys and inevitably the likes of Kraftwerk are also in there
* Or perhaps something from the vast list of people they’ve sampled and others who have sampled Daft Punk.
You choose the music so let us know what you want us to play by commenting on Facebook or here on the blog, Tweet #DaftPunk6Music email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or add a track onto our collaborative Spotify playlist.
