The Brick Testament
The entire Bible illustrated using Lego. That's Brendan Powell Smith's eventual goal. A large chunk of text still has to get the Brick Testament treatment, but he sounded, on today's programme, like a man with a Moses-like vision. There's a search engine on The Brick Testament website, so you can search your favourite Bible verse to see how Brendan has translated the text into a Lego diorama. Some of the Bible's context involves rather 'adult' content, so be warned: some of these Lego models are naked, or engage in sexual or violent behaviour -- and some even curse. Be especially careful
Some texts lend themselves more naturally to Brendan's treatment than others. You may like to suggest candidates for the most difficult Bible verse to translate into Lego, and I'd enjoy seeing some of your favourite examples of completed dioramas.

Isaiah 16 v. 11 might prove a challenge. Do look at a robust early translation not one of the prissy modern versions.

Would you prefer dumb as a mccamleyc. BTW, what the hell is a mccamleyc? I don't think even the editors of the New York Times crossword puzzle could come up with a definition for that combination of letters. Not in any known language. Is is Klingon?

You know, the more I look at that picture, the more I realize that this probably is the closest to what it actually looked like as I imagine it. Da Vinci got it all wrong. This is how it really was. Something like Mickey Mouse.

Isn't it a bit weird that I honestly thought that Brendan Powell Smith was in earnest? You can just see an Evangelical church putting this together. Nudity included, cos we're not anti-sex.

I'm not surprised you thought it was 'real', it's exactly the kind of thing someone might put together! In fact every time I think I've come up with some satirical comment or other to make about my brand of Christianity, hey presto, someone's gone and done it for real in an attempt to be relevant or something.
But the links in posted in #5 are a bit of a give away... that said though, they completely miss the point!

It's a very insightful satire Bernard. It uses rude words, and has naked lego people in sexual positions. It's very subversive - really only for the sophisticate. It's so deliciously clever!
Actually, my students are funnier. And more subversive, and insightful. And more creative.
Now if a pre-teen had produced Powell Smith's 'satire' I'd be impressed.
