Johnny Ball is rooting for Sammy Wilson
I'm not sure they've ever met, but Sammy has a fan. While interviewing Johnny Ball on Talk Back today about the fact that today is a square root day (think about it), it emerged (in the way that journalistic news tends often to "emerge") that the TV legend was a keen supporter of our environment minister. He's been following Sammy Wilson's recent comments -- without the help of Twitter -- and thinks we should rally to the minister's side on the science of climate change debate. Sometimes a news story just falls into your lap.

Cripes, Johnny, I know what you're trying to say - scepticism is good, and just turning off your standby light is not going to save the planet - we're all agreed on that. However, we DO need to accept that AGW is happening, it's real, and a scientific quick fix is unlikely (unless it is a rapidly-implementable means of generating energy via nuclear fusion, and using it to power high-output condom factories).
If *I* were the environment minister, that's what *I'd* be saying!

Yet Johnny's daughter, Zoe, is a green.

Maybe this is why Johnny says:
"We must not have kids coming home telling adults how to behave".
Perhaps he's just an exasperated dad!

It seems that David Bellamy also agrees with Sammy:

David Bellamy is used to being attacked for his views on climate change but he believes there is a need for a much more balanced debate on the issue.
The botanist, who is now based in County Durham, believes the recent temperature rises are just part of the Earth's natural cycle and that such changes have been seen before.
