I'm at the Grand National at Aintree in Liverpool today - it's one of my favoruite sporting events of the year. It's just such an amazing race and there's always loads going on and plenty of excitement.

The best thing for me is that I get to meet loads of my heroes. This morning I've seen several top jockeys, interviewed BBC commentator Jim McGrath and here I am posing with Big Mac, John McCririck.

You can check out the pony racing on Sportsround at 11.45am today before the big race starts at 4.15pm.

It feels like hardly any time at all since I was in Anfield for Liverpool's last round match against Barcelona but here I am again. And I'm getting to know it quite well!

In fact, I bumped into a load of Liverpool fans on the way up on the train - and they recognised me from that match. They reckoned the Reds are going to sail through and play Bayer Munich in the final.

I also saw lots of PSV Eindhoven supporters who were up for a good day out. They still think they're going to win but I think they're deluding themselves!

In Liverpool I've spotted loads of kids wondering around the city on the team strip. And already fans are hanging around the stadium counting down to kick-off.

I've just visited a soccer camp where loads of children think Liverpool will win 5-0 today, that's 8-3 on aggregate. They all think it's going to be a high scoring game like Manchester United's was last night.

Unfortunately, I can't stick around to watch the match at Anfield because I have to get back to the office to do stuff for Sportsround but I'll definitely be watching it on telly.

This is such an exciting week of football - last night's match had me on the edge of my seat and if Liverpool go through and Tottenham win tomorrow's Uefa Cup match this will truly be a great week for England footie fans!

How many animals are there in our blog this week?!?!

I've been filming a really cute story about a dog called Molly who has sort of adopted an orphaned little fox cub called Tod. It's really unusual because dogs and foxes don't usually get on. Wildlife worker Sam who looks after them reckons that Molly is doing what Tod's real mum would have done. Awwww.

The only problem is that they're quite difficult to film! They both like playing... A LOT. And you can't tell a dog and a naughty fox to sit still and look at the camera while you're speaking. That's why i look a little bit annoyed with them in that photo!!!

So how cute do you reckon they are? And have you spotted any more odd animal pairs lately? Is your dog best buds with your cat?

I spent an interesting day today - at an RSPCA centre for animals. We were reporting about new laws, which will mean everyone will have to look after their animals better. We were there with Sam, Jack and Ella - three children who'd managed to presuade their parents they wanted - and would look after - a dog. They'd been to choose their new pet beforehand, but today was the day they got to take Max, the Alsation, home.

I've filmed at RSPCA centres like this before, and it always makes me so sad to see so many animals in cages, who really need good homes. As you walk past the cages, the animals always jump up - trying to get your attention - as if to say "please take me home!"

Lots of animals end up in places like this, because they've been badly treated in the past. Hopefully these new laws though will mean fewer animals being badly treated - and being given away. For Max, it's a happy ending - and a new start with his new family. Hopefully there'll be more happy endings for more of the animals here soon too.

What do you think though? Do you have a pet? Do you look after him / her properly? Do you think some people shouldn't be allowed to have pets? Let me know - and in the meantime, have a great Easter!

Mmmmm... Hello everybody! It's good to be blogging this afternoon, just before I get my teeth stuck into this delicious slab of chocolate!

Well, I've been trying to give up choccies and sweets recently. They give me a really bad case of the spots!! But when I went to do a report this morning about the world's first billboard made from chocolate - I just had to give in to temptation! Here I am just about to tuck into a chunk!

The hoarding behind me is about twice my height, and weighs more than FIVE TIMES the amount I do! Pretty huge eh?! Some kids and I have been hammering into the eggs and bunnies that are stuck to it.....

So, what would you do if you were faced with this much chocolate? Would you give in to its pleasures as easily as I did? Or would you be stronger minded?! And does anyone have any good remedies for busting spots?

Right I'm off to the shop to buy a Mars bar.

Normally, it's a night in with Dr Who! But evenings like this don't come around very often - I remember being in Edinburgh two summers ago, waiting for midnight and the chance to get my hands on the sixth Harry Potter book.

And today - well yesterday now, but I haven't gone to sleep yet, so it counts as the same day - was much the same feeling. Knowing that I was going to see the first two episodes of Dr Who.

So as soon as Newsround was off air on BBC One, I was straight out of the set and into a car. Half an hour later and I was in place ready to interview the stars before the episodes were screened.

Chatting to David Tennant was fantastic as ever. The new girl Freema Agyeman was absolutely lovely. And Head Writer Russell T. Davies was, as always, full of enthusiasm and energy.

Then it was into the screening. Episodes 1 and 2. I love events like this - people were cheering as David, Freema and Russell's name came up on the credits. And then we were into the story.

My review of Episode 1 will go up later - but I will say this here. Overall, it's good! Fast and funny. And the new girl Martha shows herself to be just as resourceful as the Doctor in many ways.

As for Episode 2, again great fun. And special effects that have moved up a notch from last year. Anyway, this isn't the place to talk too much about the episodes - as I said I'll do that later in my reviews.

The rest of the evening was good fun. The thing about the Dr Who team is that they're a bit like a big family. The kind of family who it's a good laugh to chat with. And because the programme is a such a group effort, it's always interesting talking to people who do all sorts of different jobs.

I had fascinating conversations with writers. Gareth Roberts who wrote Episode 2 - The Shakespeare Code - and who I embarrassingly told several times how much I loved his story. Steven Moffatt, who's had to put up with this from me for years - he wrote the Madame de Pompadour story last year, and the kid in the gas mask episodes before that.

There were directors - the people who stand around on set deciding things like camera angles to use (yes I know it's far more complicated than that, but I'm writing this at 1 in the morning). 2nd AD's who work a lot with actors and extras on the set (yes I know, but please see previous explanation). And one of the script editors, they work a lot with the different writers.

Along with lots of other behind the scenes type people, and other media types from magazines, newspapers and websites.

And only one of the people I met asked me if I was the man from the Halifax advert. Normally it's more than half a dozen.

On tomorrow's Newsround (I suppose that should be today's, now) we'll have a full report on the new series. And you'll get your chance to see what you think of the first epsiode in ten days time on BBC One.

Now, I've got to be up in five hours time. If only I had a Tardis...

I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again. One of the best things about working on Newsround is the range of things I get to do. It means that you never get bored, and every day is different.

Today's a great example of that. This morning I presented a special event where children got to question the Prime Minister, and other top members of the Government about what they're doing to tackle climate change.

It was great meeting so many kids who care so much about the environment, and who aren't afraid to tell politicians what they think they should be doing.

The outside of No 10 Downing St looks like an ordinary house, but inside it's massive. I remember thinking as I walked about that it was like a Tardis inside.

Which leads me nicely to the second part of my day. Another fab thing about working at the BBC's TV studios is that you bump into all sorts of interesting people. And this afternoon I was on my way to get a late lunch when I spotted David Tennant - Dr Who himself - being interviewed by a TV crew.

Despite being one of the famous faces on TV, David's always really friendly and he bounded over to say hello. And we had a quick chat about the new series.

He also gave away a few snippets about what he was doing here. He was filming for the fab behind the scenes show Dr Who Confidential which comes on BBC3 straight after each episode. In fact, he was doing the whole episode himself - and it was all about the 10th story in the new series which is called Blink.

The team filming with David, from the camera crew to the boss, Gillane, were all really great as well - I love chatting to fellow Dr Who fans. I tried to overhear a bit of what David was talking about during the filming, but could only catch a few snippets. Which I'd better not repeat here.

David's been filming since last summer, and revealed that filming will finally finish at the end of this week. But he did promise me that series 3 will be 'bigger and better than ever'.

UPDATE: Well, I thought I'd finished writing this blog. But after presenting the programme on BBC One at 5.25, I was wandering back to the Newsround office, and who should I bump into, but the Head Writer of Dr Who, Russell T Davies! And he was with a writer called Gareth Roberts, who's penned the second story in the new series - The Shakespeare Code. Naturally, I couldn't let them go without getting some gossip. So they mentioned that they thought I'd especially like the Shakespeare Code, because there's a mention of the new Harry Potter book in there. Now, I really can't wait!

One of the great things about working on a show like Newsround is that lots of the stories I do are about things that I also happen to be a big fan of.

And close to the top of that list is, of course, Dr Who. With the new series getting closer and closer, we've been preparing lots of bits and pieces.

But sadly, despite me pleading with the Dr Who team and even begging, I've not managed to see the first couple of episodes yet. I've still got to wait a bit longer.

So like lots of you, I'm eagerly waiting for the trailers that come out in the run up to the show starting. I know there was a super long one after The Runaway Bride at Christmas, but that seems ages ago!

Now, if anyone asks, you didn't hear this from me! But if you're watching Fame Academy tomorrow (Saturday) night, you might get a nice surprise straight afterwards just before 8.40pm. Just a brief one, though. A few seconds to whet your appetite. And a week later, probably a much longer treat. Maybe even around 40 seconds worth...

Now this series has, of course, some of your favourite monsters coming back. A few weeks ago I went to hear the music being recorded for a double episode featuring the Daleks in New York. I don't want to say too much yet. But the man who composes the music - Murray Gold - has done an amazing job (again)! Well done, Murray!

We'll also be interviewing people from the cast as well as behind the scenes. So with a new series of Dr Who AND a Harry Potter book in the summer, I'm getting really excited.

Let me know if you're looking forward to the next few months as much as I am!

I've been in India to take part in a special festival called Holi. It's to celebrate spring turning into summer. The main tradition is that everyone throws coloured paint at each other. Children mix special dye with water, fill water pistols and then soak their friends. Everyone ends up REALLY multi-coloured.

It was amazing to see. There was a very friendly atmosphere. Every time I stopped to film something the camera was pelted with clouds of colour and water bombs. I ended up TOTALLY covered in paint! I've just had a bath and was scrubbing for TWO HOURS and it's still not come off. I now have green and red hair.

Now you've probably heard of mountain boarding and kite surfing - what what about street surfing?
Well it's a cool new sport which I got to try out for Newsround at a school in Dorset yesterday. It's basically like skateboarding but the board, called a 'waveboard', is much easier to ride and you can go up hills without putting your feet down. They're also quite a good fitness work out so schools in Dorset are letting their pupils have a go at riding waveboards as part of their PE lessons.

Here's a photo of me riding one - looking pretty sick eh? Or maybe not, I think I'll stick to snowboarding, but it was really good fun. If you want to find out more about street surfing and see me in action on the board, then check out this afternoon's Newsround at 5.25pm on BBC1.

Today I met someone, who is an inspiration to thousands of people around the world.

Tanni-Grey Thompson is one of the country's best ever athletes - she also happens to be disabled. She was born with a condition called Spina Bifida - which means her spine didn't grow properly - so she has to use a wheelchair.

It's been tough for her to be taken seriously as an athlete - and she's had to face a lot of discrimination. She's overcome it all though and in total has won a staggering 11 gold medals and has held 30 world records.

Pretty inspirational stuff, huh? So, I want to know who your heroes are? Who has inspired you and why? Let me know!

Look forward to hearing from you xxxx

Today I'm at Croke Park stadium in Dublin for the Ireland v England Six Nations match. For AGES it was only allowed to be used for Irish sports like hurling and Gaelic football - so you might not have not have heard of this place if you live outside Ireland. This is a really historic occasion because it's the first time England have ever played there.

There is LOADS of security because the police are worried some people are unhappy that England are there. All the roads are closed so I had quite a long walk to the ground. In Dublin all the front pages of the papers are about the match. There are LOADS of rugby posters and flags everywhere, and it's the only thing that people are talking about.

Ireland have a huge home advantage because there are about 82,000 seats in the stadium and 60,000 of them will be filled with Irish fans!

Most of you are probably used to seeing me presenting Newsround in the mornings. But today, I got to have a big lie-in and present the afternoon updates, including the 5.25 programme on CBBC One, which I've never done before.

Some of you will have noticed that we use a different studio when we're on CBBC One. It's much bigger - with a lot more lights and cameras - so I was a bit nervous today. But I got over my nerves while we rehearsed and it all went well.

When do you watch Newsround? Are you an early bird? Do you like to know what's going on while you're eating your breakie? Or do you prefer watching Newsround after school? Let me know.
