As a student of American Foreign Policy and Jimmy Carter in particular perhaps Tony Blair should have followed the more ethical line of Liberal Interventionism advocated by Carter in this extract and also during the early part of his presidency if we were really to stay as the Greeks to Washingtons Romans.

Thankyou Newsnight for interviewing former President Jimmy Carter and bringing his book to our attention. He is still clearly a christian man of christian conviction, speach and action.
Today I agree both British and American Domestic and Foriegn Policy is not acknowledging Almighty God, Maker of Heaven and Earth; they are going their own way, paying only lip service to religion and we as Nations are paying a heavy price for it. "Righteousnes exalts a Nation but sin is a reproach to any people" Proverbs 14 v 34. Again as 65 years ago we need national days of prayer and calls to repentance and renewal of faith; in The Son of The Living God who has the power to intervene and who loved this sad world so much that He came and died for it, rising from the dead 2000 years ago and is coming again, soon? to judge this same world in righteousness.

In the absence of morality, a religion provides an ethical means of reprimanding guilt through the concepts of karma. Was it the wisest decision to support a Shah an Shah dictator in Iran ? Was this ethical, or just good for Americans ? Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. But, in the name of God, don't give them weapons of mass destruction. Byzantine America, the split through the heart of a nation. The pantheon did crumble, like a stale Big Mac.

Exactly, I agree with everyone, why are we so afraid of religion. It enhances the thought process of such base creatures like man. I say bring back, not just the Christian values, but backdown on the Islamaphobic rhetoric
