We're back at 8pm tonight on BBC2 and in the meantime, here's a little quiz.

What's this...?

Macro quiz

We'll have the answer on the show later and will update this blog shortly after.

UPDATED: Well done to everyone who got it right. It's a tiger beetle.

I'm on the wrong blog here but I'm new lol .. what I would like to know is can anyone tell me the make and model of the camera and lens used in the demonstration of zooming in this afternoons show . It was demonstrated by zooming in to a toy bird . Any info would be greatly appreciated and a cheque for an enormous amount of money forwarded to you directly :)

Martin as you come across as a much nicer person than Tim Scoones and because Tim Scoones seems to be ignoring the many comments re badgers and acting like a jobs worth who has taken his silver coins from his pay masters, I will address this comment to you. The viewers of Spring Watch are very disappointed that the programme has not taken the opportunity to protect badgers. We know that you know the science doesn't support such a cull and we have all be hoping you and Chris Packham would speak up for the badgers. The silence of Spring Watch on the fate of thousands of badgers makes me think of the silence of those when faced with the holocaust. Sorry if that sounds dramatic, but many of us are horrified by this proposed cull and the startling silence of BBC and programmes like Spring Watch makes nature lovers and indeed the general public feel betrayed.

do you think there is a connection between the demise of our birds/songbirds and the lack of squashed flies that you used to see all over your car windscreen, but now seem completely absent.I appreciate we havent had warm summer evenings but how long ago was it that you last had this happen.
