I have a question from my 10 year old daughter, Amy, who is a fan of the programme. She would like to know how long it takes a woodpecker to create a hole in a tree trunk and make a nest.

Too bad all the music chosen is rubbish. Doesn't Springwatch have any viewers over 40 or 50 who appreciate good music?

I'm putting this here as there doesn't seem to be a place for posting general comments. The guys were talking about bird mimicry just now and I had to let you know that for a few years we had a blackbird in our area that could mimic a lorry reversing (you know that twiddly up and down tone they make). I think that's really clever. We also had a blackbird that mimicked a song thrush and a starling that mimicked a blackbird so very multi-cultural around here.
