Hi Nick , using this link as hope you can help with my query ?

A friend of mine lives in Ascot ,Berkshire & their garden backs onto a large wooded forest, there are a couple of dead or dying trees near to their fence , one of which has attracted the attention of a pair of Nuthatches.

One of the pair climbs down the tree as normal but then starts feeding on the ground while it's partner stays at the top of the tree
The ground feeding bird is seen to take snails & slugs to eat , i have been unable to find any reference to this behaviour being recorded in any documentaion or reports, has this been seen before in Nuthatches ?

    Regards

    Rychard Nutley

Apologies-don't seem to be able to navigate this site, so will ask my question here.
A pair of Bullfinches inhabit a large Holly in the corner of our garden. Suddenly the other day, for the first time there were 4 males and 4 females all within one small area of the tree, obviously and peacefully congregating. Could anyone please comment as I've never seen this before.Davidc
