I've just been to see House At The End Of The Street, the new horror film starring Jennifer Lawrence. It wasn't shown to the press before it opened - I wonder why?

This week the new Bourne movie comes out - with no Jason Bourne but lots of running, jumping and shooting. Here I give you my verdict.

After an advance screening of The Sweeney recently a national newspaper published their review early - which annoyed the distributors greatly. Do you think it's OK to report films months before they are out or should critics wait until release?

I recently saw the Danish film A Royal Affair and was really surprised by how brilliant it was. Which movies have you gone to without expecting anything very much and then found yourself completely knocked out by how great they were?

I've heard from a number of people who wanted to see Prometheus in 2D but have been frustrated by the lack of screens showing this format. Isn't it time we did something about the way we are being pushed into the 3D trap?

Next Tuesday Nicolas Roeg's brilliant 1970s sci fi film The Man Who Fell To Earth is screening around the country. It's one of my all time favourites - a dark, strange work featuring an extraordinary performance by David Bowie.

For the last few years I've been following with interest the progress of Iron Sky, an independently financed Finnish movie about Nazis hiding back on the moon and invading the earth.

Iron Sky premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and now I've had a chance to see it. But is it any good?

The long-awaited John Carter opened last weekend.

The film cost $250 million to make and the box office figures are so far pretty underwhelming - but does any of this matter?

I recently posted about the new William Friedkin film, Killer Joe and confessed that I didn't know immediately whether I liked it or not.

Am I the only one who sometimes feels I need time for the film to settle before I decide?

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has been made twice - once in Swedish and once in the English language.

The Hollywood remake has had a favourable reception but what does the box office tell us about the two films?

  13. Great Performance, Shame About The Film

Andrea Riseborough gives a fantastic performance in Madonna's 'W.E' - unfortunately the film is one of the worst I've ever seen.

This got me wondering about other examples of great acting in terrible movies.

Meryl Streep's performance has received much praise, but is the film any good?

Also, if you've seen the film, let me know what you made of it.

He was promoting his new movie The Deep Blue Sea which had a great opening weekend at the box office.

Have you seen the film? If you have, I'd like to know what you thought of it.
