People accuse me of being prejudiced but in fact there is nothing I like more than being surprised by a film turning out to be good when I was expecting the worst - and I can prove it.

Ultimately if you like the Watchmen movie I'm not sure you ever understood the book in the first place. It's NOT faithful, despite some people insisting it is. Yes, superficially it looks similar, but characters motivations are altered, not to mention the level of violence that it's raised to in order to appeal to a much wider audience.

It's pretty clear I'm a huge fan of the book (I own about 5 different copies of it) but I really WANTED to like the movie. Instead I felt like someone had just shouted plot points at me for 3 hours, in DEAD COOL slow motion.

Sorry Mark you are wrong about Keira Knightley, she is the worst actor I have ever seen and her performance in A dangerous Method which you said was good was THEE worst I have ever seen. So bad it was laughable.

Is there any hope left for Danny Dyer? Could he pull something sublime out of his career, or did that boat sail away to never never land a long time ago.

Erm, on Watchmen: no, Snyder's movie is NOT the best version of Watchmen we're going to get.

The best version already exists, and it's the comic by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

Aside from that, the movie is a horrible celebration of the violence that the book clearly abhors. It's a complete twist of the philosophy of the source material.

Still, it had special effects. Weeeeee!
