The makers of Star Trek Into Darkness recently apologised for a gratuitous shot of Alice Eve in her underwear. Which other filmmakers would you like to see saying sorry and for what?

Seriously, they had to apologise for what was effectively a) a tongue in cheek moment about Kirks Libido and b) simply a light hearted comedy moment.

Show's how things change in the 60s Criticism for kissing a black character 2013 for showing black underwear... Pathetic. Am I bad for smiling and not being offended?

Bryan (extra star) Singer, so called because years ago he made The usual suspects and critics have worshipped him ever since, for Superman Returns.
A sequel to the Chris Reeve movie. Huh? "You'll believe a man can fly" was amazing at the time but we've moved on since then. The only showstopper Singer gave us was the plane rescue.
As it's a sequel no super baddies, so to make it fair we have to have the whole kryptonite shtick again.
Superman is the ultimate good guy, maybe a little old fashioned but there you go. In Singers hands he's just a d##k. Follow this logic. Supes sleeps with Lois coz they're in love, then in the morning it's "Wham bam thank you Lois Lan I'm just off for five years and nine months to visit a planet I know doesn't exist. Boy the amount of times I've used that excuse.
    Which brings us to...
The 5yr 9 month old child. Seriously, did anyone not know? So Lois and the child have a good stable healthy relationship with that guy from X-men and Supes spends the entire movie trying to break them up (My hero!)
I could go on and on, but look even Singer has said he doesn't read or know about comics so what kind of ego thinks "Oh yeah the oldest most iconic superhero of all time, yeah that'll be easy.
    P.S I'm not a huge Supes fan so don't think I'm being a fanboy.

With all due respect, you are extremely articulately wrong.

Superman's character isn't about his powers, it's about who he is. To put it another way, do you judge any other character as an interesting or uninteresting person is any other piece of fiction by what they can lift?

Superman is three characters: Superman - the hero we see zipping about doing impossible things, trying to be a beacon of hope. Clark - the bumbling character trying to both fit in as a human and be invisible. Kal-El - the boy who fell from a dying planet and is reminded every day that he is absolutely alone.

That is why the character is so interesting and why he has outlived his creators. Unfortunately, people only see Superman and think he's invincible, which is exactly what the people of Metropolis do, so perhaps we can't blame them.

I demand an apology from Quentin Tarantino for the following:
    1. The films Deathproof and Four Rooms
    2. David Bowie Cat People on the soundtrack to Inglourious Basterds because he likes the song (nothing wrong with Bowie, just the setting)
    3. That accent in Django Unchained
    4. all further cinematic liberties he intends to take which downgrade his films from masterpiece to quirky fan-boy fare

George Lucas for tampering with the revised directors version of THX 1138, and all the other post release tampering with his other films, while simultaneously making the original versions unavailble on Blu Ray.

Ridley Scott - Prometheus, and the whoever made the marketing decision to make the extras available only on the 3D disk.

Pixar for devoting so much effort to sequels instead of developing exciting new stuff.

Zack Snyder - the whole of Sucker Punch, and for making the Watchmen so boring.

Superman Returns (why?), The Green Lantern's rubbish CGI suit, Ryan Reynolds for wasting his great talent on so many dreadful films, Sandra Bullock ditto, Vanilla Blu Rays - come on, there's a ton of space! Blu Rays with less extras than the DVD, Really loud DVD and Blu Ray menus compared to the film itself, Bah!

I'd welcome an apology from Giusepe Tornatore for the dismal director's cut of 'Cinema Paradiso' which succeeded in completely unravelling the beauty and sense of loss of the original theatrical release. If it wasn't your choice to release the director's cut then I apologise to you Giuseppe

Michael Bay should apologize not just for Transformers 2 being crap (which it was) but more over for utterly ruining the entire Transformers franchise. A franchise which was a treasured and much loved part of many peoples childhood and which Mr Bay in his infinite wisdom decided could be brought into the 21st century with a good dose of racist stereotypes, cringe worthy sexual innuendo that makes the Carry On films feels seem subtle, some of the most wooden acting this side of Sherwood Forest and of course the camera falling in love (in a creepy and disturbing way) with Megan Fox's bottom.
Oh and Mr Bay should also apologize to the relatives of the people who died or were injured and Pearl Harbor, simply put they deserved a much better film.

    @ jez

My apology is to you, sir. I accidentally rated your post down when I meant to rate it up (slip of the mouse) and now the BBC website won't let me remedy my error.

Your point is excellent. I didn't really care either way about Lucas's previous tinkering with Star Wars (heck, I even thought the galaxy wide celebration at the end of Jedi improved it a little), but Vader yelling "Nooo!" is nothing less than cultural vandalism and completely ruins the most emotional moment of the entire trilogy.

John Carter - the waste that is 3 hours of bladder busting rubbish. From what I read the studio bosses wanted an apology too.

Massive fan of SF: why did they pick this ancient book off the shelf and not one written in the last 50 years.
