Can Captain America marvel Dr Mark, or will the comic book hero need his shield to defend himself from Kermode's wrath?

Joe Johnston: who crucially directed OCTOBER SKY, which is just one of those films that starts off shaky, but then becomes absolutely perfect. I've seen the more great movies than probably anyone I know, and I can honestly say that October Sky is perfect.

I agree with Mark.
As popcorn movies go, this is a lot better than you might expect.
The film-makers are obviously very aware of the cynical eyes of today's audience towards jingoism and that slight anti-American feeling that is slowly creeping in beyond their own country. A misstep too far in bringing this latest superhero to the screen might not only jeopardize their international box office, but also their long-awaited spin-off "The Avengers" of which "Captain America" was the last crucial missing link.
So instead of falling into the traps of the obvious patriotic gush and just updating the story for the modern audience, into a modern setting, director Joe Johnston decided to stay true to the origins of his hero and kept the story rooted in 194os, during WW2 deciding to concentrate more on the old-fashion moral decency of the characters than their "let's kick some a$$" type of mentality.

So glad to hear the love for The Rocketeer from my favourite movie reviewer. It stands as my all time favourite movie, and I'm lucky enough to have a wife that got me the jacket for Christmas a few years ago! http://www.flickr.com/photos/denisryan/4767808198/in/set-72057594136149422/
Captain America was awesome, but The Rocketeer is still my hero.
