  Have heard good things about The Wrestler but I am not sure I would go and see it. Simply because I can't help but feel extemely sad whenever I see Mickey Rourke these days. The first time I ever saw him was when I watched Diner years ago. He was a real discovery, and I followed his career for years after that. Am glad to see he is doing some good work again now.

I first saw Rourke in Get Carter the abismal remake amid the furore that Stallone would star in Michael Caine's place in the lead role of the Get carter remake as well as in the place of Charles Bronson in a Death Wish remake!!! This is of course something no one wants. but Rourke acted the part quite well, and actually became a scene stealer in that film (not hard to do).
  I was astonished at Rourke's own gruff and caracature Lee Marvin/Charles Bronson-esque portrayal of Marv in Rodriguez' Sin City which is the best chapter of the film and even surpasses Bruce Willis's morally glorious anti-hero.
  In my opinion Rourke should have won the Oscar for The Wrestler! But I hope he chooses decent roles in the future. For some reason he stormed off the set of death Proof (apparently), which of course soemwould say he was right to do, although to Tarantino fans this is sacrilage - as the film would have been better with Rourke as Stuntman Mike. Plus Rourke is to star in Iron Man II and Stallone's ode to 1980s action-men The Expendables.
