I haven't seen Mama Mia, but I now feel I know exactly how the you felt the instant you realised Pierce Brosnan was about to start singing!

For succintness, the review of High School Musical 3 could have stopped with "Here we have a profit and loss line..."

Yes - they profit and we lose! Ba-zing!

"Well I suppose it does what it says on the tin....which is more than be said for a lot of films"

Wasn't that the tag line for a certain brand of wood stain, and insert your preferred joke about wooden actors here!

Oh and Mr Kermode I now dare you to illustrate The Devils in the style of the film itself (It might make the blog X-rated though!)

You know what I'm glad that there are films like HSM 3 out there for kids.

Yes, it may be sickly sweet and quite frankly a bit daft but hey its good harmless fun with morals and a heart. So what's wrong with that?

this has nothing to do with high school musical part III but with today's show (oct 24). you wondered that one never knows what goes on behind the scences, when a movie is actually made (in reference to the Quantum of Something and its botched story line). let me combine this query with your dislike for mr apatow and refer you to this clip:

    http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/4882

there we can see how mr apatow operates behind the camera (and what a jerk he is), as he clashes with a surprisingly forceful micheal cera (of Juno fame) during the filming of Knocked Up. since cera is not the lead in Knocked Up, it is clear that this exchange did not end in smiles.

    keep up the good work!

A couple of years ago I had to help out at my 7 year old niece's HSM themed party and was almost driven to suicide by the incessant singing of 30 maniacal tweenies. Thank God I recovered just in time to enjoy this review.

Haven't seen it, or Mammia Mia, but I'm pleased this sort of harmless Poppins-esque film is being made. I'll happily endure the 30 maniacal tweenies anytime.

This sort of movie makes a really nice change from people having their brains blown-out or having limbs hacked-off, drug-taking and alcoholism, wrecking cars and (how can I put this for the benefit of the moderators ?) doing naughty adult things with each other...

That video was a billion times more enjoyable than the actual film. In all fairness, though, graphs in general are about a million times more enjoyable than High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

I never understood the point of musicals. It's silly to me to see and hear people singing for every moment. It looked well filmed and there seemed to be plenty of talent.

I HYPED High school Musical 3 on EverHYPE and scored it 64%, which I think is very accurate.

High School Musical is a great film franchise, squeaky clean and perfect for younger viewers. Too bad that the older film critics don't understand the rather briliant films.

At least we have better singers in this franchise than batty brosnan in Mamma Mia!!! Maybe Meryl Streep should take the role as Miss Darbus and could beat out a rendition of Breaking Free in the classroom!
