Zippy and George tell all! Rainbow - the inside story!

Post categories:

The One Show Team | 12:43 UK time, Monday, 12 October 2009

Zippy and George, from the legendary children's show Rainbow, came in to chat to Adrian and Christine on Friday 9th October.

There were many important questions which needed to be answered by the two-some, including what they'd been up to since the show's demise, and what upcoming projects they're working on.

But the question on everyone's lips was, 'What's happened to Bungle?'

Watch the video below to find out the truth behind Bungle's disappearance.

I AM 23 YRS OLD AND I REMEMBER MY MUM AND DAD PUTING ON THE TV AND I WOULD SEE ZIPPY,GEORGE AND BUNGLE I USED CRY WHEN THE PROGRAMM FINISHED. MY FAVOURITE CHARECTER WAS ALWAYS ZIPPY BECAUSE HE ALWAYS GOT UP TO NO GOOD AND I LOVED HIM AND STILL DO, I WILL BE HAVING MY FIRST CHILD SOON AND I WANT HIM/HER TO GROW UP WITH THESE CHARECTERS AS I FOUND THEM SO FUNNY WHEN I WAS YOUNG. ITS SUCH A SHAME THAT THEY ARE NO LONGER ON OUR TV SCREENS ANY MORE.

I cannot believe that in the last 5 days since the screening of George and Zippy that nobody has complained about the pathetic attempt to re-create their voices. Both myself and a work colleague have astounded many a pub, club, friends and family with our impressions of the duo to, may I add, rave reviews, (glove puppets included).
I was gob-smacked that these two national heroes should be portrayed with voices no where near correct. I suppose the lame excuse could be put down to them having a blokes arm up your backside of the last 30 years but it's still not good enough to allow this poor attempted to be broadcast on national television.
I shall be awaiting with baited breath for a full apology from the BBC to be broadcast as soon as possible from the One Show couch.
Incidentally, Bungle was and complete idiot. He walked around all day naked and then put his pyjamas on to go to bed!!!!! (I thank you).

I was so looking forward to seeing Zippy & George...But I was so shocked that their voices have changed. Zippy has gone posh and George has turned into a woman. I'm always being asked to impersonate Zippy and George wherever I go. These new voices just does'nt work for me or for their act to be honest.

I web designer, and I would like to build an official website for them, who do I need to contact.

It was good to see them again on TV, but they need to work on their voices a bit more.

    All the best
    Dave
