Week 4 - Leaderboard

Post categories:

BBC Strictly Suzy | 21:00 UK time, Saturday, 22 October 2011

What a night it has been! We had tears from Anita, shouting from James and a whole lot of upside down Nancy.

Alesha awarded the first ten of the series to Harry and Aliona, even Craig got in the high scoring spirit and handed out a nine to Chelsee and Pasha for their energetic Quickstep, finally knocking Jason and Kristina off the top spot and scoring an impressive 36 points. At the bottom of the pack this week we have Nancy and Anton - their scores may not have been high, but the judges and studio audience certainly enjoyed the acrobatics!

Here are the scores for Week 4 - find out who will be leaving the show this week on Sunday at 7.25pm on BBC One.

Well Done Harry and Aliona! I am unbelievably proud of you! Any Harry and Aliona fans help show your support and like our page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Harry-Judd-to-win-Strictly-Come-Dancing-2011/158981234185566

It's a bit sickly watching Jason Donovan acting for the camera at all
times on and off the dance floor. It looks as though every thing he does
is scripted. Like to see him go really.
Now Audley, looks much more sincere and honest in his endeavours.
    Come on Audley!!!!

  • Comment number 3.

Another fab show, and wish i could be there every week. just one question though, is the sunday night show recorded after the saturday night show???

  • Comment number 4.

Yes i do agree David, but he is a good dancer and entertaining. I find Audley a bit boring, sorry.

  • Comment number 5.

I wish some professionals would stop whinging about the judges' scores. They are happy to take the high ones. I didn't find Alex sexy and think that she was over-marked by some.

  • Comment number 6.

Oops, find myself agreeing with the judges, well almost...
    :) Harry, Robbie, Chelsee
:( Rory, Lulu,....not counting Nancy, she is a one off, but never has someone looked so fabulous and danced, not quite so!

  • Comment number 7.

Plaese can you explain to me whether Len is the boss of James, if not what right has he to make the nasty comment he made?

  • Comment number 8.

    i love strictly....
i also think poor anton always gets the " bum deal" bless him... but he copes real well and takes it on the chin....
would like to know whats going on with the bottom 2 judging.... seems the judges dont get the final say now ??? or i do think anton and dear ole nancy would have gone last week..
usually its brendan arguing with the judges.. but last night it was james having a oppiniion and boy was it a oppinion..... good for him i say.....!!!
who my favourite is.... im not sure yet...... but Russell... he makes me laugh every week....!! not cause he CANT dance.... but of the passion and " fun" he puts into his dance each week... !!

Re: Beverly Mason @ Post No.3

Clearly so if you are incredibly unfortunate enough to stumble on the Strictly Come Dancing (Series 9) article page on Wikipedia which I found to be frankly disgracefully unfair and, intentionally or not, ruinous to the enjoyment of the genuine fans. I would avoid it at all costs till the Monday. The editor should be banned or something.

Enough about that. I found the show to be a total dance dissarrrsterrr. Last year a freedom of choice didn't happen till Week 6. It has happened twice in the first 4 weeks and does anyone else agree that some of the partnerships clearly struggled because of it? I am to be convinced they were anywhere near their best. They are thrown in at the deep end and if the choice is an ill-made one they suffer. The leaderboard pretty much is similar to past weeks and in the end the total and individual marks panned out to be similar to past weeks, but I get the impression the performances weren't to what we are now getting used to seeing from the partnerships who did them.

  • Comment number 10.

I enjoyed the show last night..... especially Harry, Holly, Chelsee, Anita and Russell but I don't think the pros should argue with the judges' comments or scores. It's not appropriate.

  • Comment number 11.

Does anyone think that Holly and Artem were a little undermarked? Jason made me feel a little embarressed last night. Not comfortable watching him last night.

  • Comment number 12.

Hi DDD. I'd have put them above Anita and just below Harry but they are one of my favourite couples so perhaps I'm biased ;):) Who are you rooting for this year?

  • Comment number 13.

The event IS good trading material, although liquidity is a little low, but it would be better placed later in the evening when it doesn't clash other trade-able events

  • Comment number 14.

Who on earth chooses the music for the ballroom? Can we please have some "proper" waltz music. Holly's Viennese waltz was spoilt for me by the ridiculous music. It was much better with the sound off! If we want to listen to such awful music we could switch channels. Also what was Tess wearing. It looked as if it had been made out or curtains, but at least her lipstick was OK this week. Only Alesha can get away with bright red. Bring back Claudia for in the week. It doesn't seem to work with Zoe.

  • Comment number 15.

Poor James, such a big spoilt baby and bad loser. Just be a professional, take the comments aboard and come back better next week. The dance was lousy, Alex did not have any hip action at all, crucial to the Rumba no? Like to see her go ASAP and James with her, thank you very much!

  • Comment number 16.

Re comment 15 - personally I thought James was just standing up for Alex, who looked genuinely upset by some of the comments, and let his irritation get the better of him. In his defence, he is the one who has to pick up her confidence every time they knock it to the floor, as do the other pros every week.

    Rant over.

Adored Chelsee and Pasha, well deserved place at the top, Lulu looked like she had a blast (and so did Brendan even), Harry and Aliona were gorgeous (re; whispering-on-stairs-gate - I thought it was cute :) ), Robbie threw everything he had at it, and I loved Ola's choreography, and only Russel and Flavia could have a camp tango, but still with all the drama of backstage at a fashion show.

    Good show all round :)

P.S - very happy to see the wig did not return with Robin this week.

  • Comment number 17.

Here's the average scores for the top five after 4 weeks:

    Jason 32
    Harry 31
    Chelsee 30.5
    Holly 29.5
    Anita 28.75

If Harry and Chelsee go on improving and are popular with the public I think they'll run away with it!

  • Comment number 18.

Forgot to mention Natalie's choreography - very cleverly done, it was lovely.

  • Comment number 19.

    ojtocs @ 17

Just one teeny little correction. You have them all spot on apart from one. You have overshot Harry's average by just a smidgen. Harry's average is 30.75. He has scored 28-27-33-35. That totals 123. Divide that by 4 and you should get 30.75. Near as it makes no difference though imho. Round my answer of and you get 31. Still impressive whatever you get.

Putting him in Series 8 last year he would already push Jimi Mistry down a place to 7th and slot in 6th place, and Jason's 32.0 would place him 5th.

  • Comment number 20.

please please get rid of Nancy she is awful poor Anton!!!

  • Comment number 21.

In a night that was littered with scripted arguments, cheesy VT's the worst of them being Jason Donovan donning a red cape and a fake moustache in a supermarket and 70% of the routines bodering on the techically correct to plain boring as long as the top 4 couples Harry and Aliona, Anita and Robin, Holly and Artem and Chelsee and Pasha and Russell and Flavia for entertainment value stay in I frankly don't care out of the rest who goes home.

But James and Alex and Jason and Kristina will in my opinion escape the bottom two as their performances were absoloutley mediocre but they have the public support.

I have this gut feeling in me here that Team Nanton will live to fight another week as I have a feeling the public will vote them in because of the entertainment value of their routine.

So for me the bottom two this week are Lulu and Brendan and Rory and Erin with Rory and Erin going home because Rory and Erin's routine was entertaining but in all honesty I think after last week I think last night was the best we have seen of Rory and Lulu and Brendan I felt sorry for her it started off so well but when they ascended the stairs it just went downhill and didn't pick up.

    Anyone agree
    Keeeeep Dancing

  • Comment number 22.

I thought that Audley was again undermarked, the judges all say nice things and then give him low marks, he is improving every week and looked so good in such a difficult dance before you even take into account how difficult it is to make a body of that size look graceful! I feel sorry for Alex, she was so much better in the ballroom she did last week, Craigs comments were mean and unhelpful but James needs to stop mouthing off! it will not help her scores with the judges or the public, he is supposed to be a professional!

  • Comment number 23.

    JenniLovesStrictly @ 22

Audley scored 25 along with Lulu and Alex Jones. In order to establish whether or not he was under-marked I think you have to establish whether he was better than Lulu and Alex.

Regarding James, I don't know whether he is a hothead or Craig has a vendetta against him but I am sure whilst his comments are highly supportive of the celebs and at the same time in defense of them against comments from CRH who can over-embellish a point, and you see JJ's point given Craig's 4 is one better than the mark he gave Nancy..yes HER..., but I don't think the celebs take comments to heart that much.

  • Comment number 24.

SCDFanatic @19 Ooops! I can't add up as well as I thought... Thanx:)
Interesting that Jason would only have fifth place up in last year's line up.

Fergal @22 I agree. As long as the top four are safe plus Russell then all is well.
What did the dog make of Nancy this week?

  • Comment number 25.

    @ 8 shellbelle
Last year the scoring went back to the original method for dispatching a couple each week. Lowest combined Judges & public vote goes home Fair and straightforward. Unfortunately they have kept the system used to try and negate the judges power (when there was still the dance off) in marking tied votes up rather than down which is why it does not take much for the last placed couple to stay safe. They only have to come second to last with the public to beat the next couple up (provided they are last with public support) as the public vote has higher priority if the combined scores are tied.

Unfortunately until there is a clear order after the judges scores we may well be stuck with those who are really not dancing well rather than those who are at least trying.

  • Comment number 26.

I dare say some of the deliberate low scoring last night was meant as a wake up call to one or two people. Even Jason toppled from the top. The real problem starts when a "good" dancer leaves at the expense of a disasterous one thanks to the unpublished public voting. Last series reaction to Jimi Mistry going as Widdicombe remained kept the press (and these blogs) going for a few days. No doubt we have that to look forward to this series. Sometimes those wake up call low scores can have negative effects.

  • Comment number 27.

    Hi all,

I forgot to pass comment on some behind the scenes and fashion mlafunctions last night.

Firstly Tess's dress I think I sold something like that at the charity shop I work at for 20 quid it was a bed linen set.

Were the camera operators on work experience because the shot after Nancy and Anton were at the judges bench went from them and disaapeered up the stairs either that or they were trying to get Nancy out of shot while she made another spectacle of herself.

And most imporatantly I didn't mind the props last night though those poles did spoil Holly and Artems routine though if he was pole dancing on them bare chested I wouldn't have minded but it is the cheesy VT's that really got on my wick last night some I single out are.

Jason Donovan in a supermarket with the red cape and fake moustache he must have been embarassed as I was cringing watching it.

Russell and Flavia's dream sequence on a clifftop absoloutley camp and way over the top.

Harry and Aliona don't escape my criticisms either I felt their VT on the waltz brought nothing to the scenario and I wanted them to end the only training VT I genuinelly liked was Robin and Anita's as they captured the mood of the dance they delivered so well and Anita's Rita Hayworth impression inspired.

But in other words memo to the Beeb for the remainder of the competition drop the cheesy VT's they add nothing to the routine but cause embarassment for the celebs.

Oh and final thought James loose the bad boy attitude because frankly they weren't even rows Len and James had last night just petty handbags at dawn for me they added nothing to the night just James chucking his toys out of the pram and Len like a rather annoyed father telling him off I'm surprised he didn't put him on the maughty step and be done with it or better still the both of them on the naughty step.

    Hi Ojtocs.

Frankly Lucy was okay with them this week but she threw her eyes up to heaven and yawned several times at some of the rather boring performances and yawned even louder at the cheesy VT's apart from that she's fine and back to her old self and liking the show again.

  • Comment number 29.

Now for my saves and danger list which has dramatically changed in light of some routines last night some couples I would put on the critical list but hopefully they will come back better and more determined next week.

    Saves

    Anita and Robin
    Chelsee and Pasha
    Harry and Aliona
(Three best dances of the night for me)
Russell and Flavia(For pure entertainment value)
Holly and Artem(even though the poles spoilt it a pretty good routine)
Audley and Natalie(Even though I think the routine lacked excitement they don't deserve to go home)

    Critical List

    Jason and Kristina
    James and Alex
(These two couples frankly weren't on top of their game this week and being in the middle of the leaderboard is a dangerous place to be but hopefully public support will save them and hopefully the wake up call and kick up the rear will mean they come back better and hopefully raise their game next week)

    Danger List

Nancy and Anton(Even though I still have this feeling they will live to fight another week their dance still had Nancy stumbling and Anton throwing her round like a ragdoll end the love affair with these two now)
Lulu and Brendan(Felt sorry for her started off well but went downhill after the stairs and went nowhere)
Rory and Erin(Bumping and grinding was rather cringeworthy and a little embarassing kind of like your father who's chaperoning you at the school dance in need of chaperoning himself)

    Going Home

Will take a pot guess at Rory and Erin for the vringe factor but I rank these three as the worst dances of the night so anyone could be heading for the exit, the taxi home and an early footspa.

  • Comment number 30.

The judges scores aren't transparent at all. Len only knows the 7 points paddle, it sometimes seems.
Some people are overated and some underrated.

Len said that he's the expert, but sorry, sometimes I can't follow his points. And Alesha isn't an expert at all! They give points to what they like and not to what is actually well executed.

Alex wasn't good yesterday, but not as bad as Nancy and Alex got only one point more than Nancy (from Craig). Alex can at least dance on her own and isn't dragged all over the floor.

But there's never been justice. People who vote have their favorites, no matter if they can dance or not. So Nancy will probably stay another week, if we like it or not.

  • Comment number 31.

I have changed my mind on the saves and danger list in all honesty the 1st and second sets of couples were miles apart as far as content, storytelling, and stepping up to the plate were concerned and as far as I can see on the strength os what I saw last night frankly because their routines lacked excitement, sprak and chemistry I would put the first 6 couples into the danger list.

    Jason and Kristina
    Rory and Erin
    James and Alex
    Nancy and Anton
    Audley and Natalie
    Lulu and Brendan

And I would take a pot guess at any two of them for the bottom two as the six of them have a lot in common poor content, poor enthusiasm and lack of excitement in all honesty these six didn't step up and raise their game and hopefully for 5 of these couples the kick up the rear will wake them up because if the top 3 couples Harry and Aliona, Anita and Robin, and Holly and Artem and Russell and Flavia go home because the public are obssessed with the amaeteur couples it will be a travesty and even Robbie and Ola I include in this because agreed his jive was a bit off and to much posing and preening but he had so much exitement in his routine you just wanted to see more.

So in conclusion out of those six it is hard to decide who should go home so I will just hope I have I have guess it right and we get a fair vote.

  • Comment number 32.

Agree, but isn't it all rather silly when all you have to do is go online and see the result? Time the BBC stopped this charade of pretending the results take place on a different night. It's childish.

  • Comment number 33.

As I said about the 1st and 2nd couples being miles apart the second 6 couples deserve to stay in the competition these are.

    Holly and Artem
    Anita and Robin
    Harry and Aliona
    Russell and Flavia
    Chelsee and Pasha
    Robbie and Ola

Because in contrast these 6 did everything the 1st 6 didn't produced and cherographed some terrfic routines Anita and Robin and Chelsee and Pasha I single out for prauise they totally smashed it last night and aced the routine I do not know how long Anita and Robin will last in the competition but if they continue to produce routines like that I can see them lasting a while yet.

Also Holly and Artem even though the poles spoilt it they did a great routine and also Len is a grump who cares I do agree Harry was overmarked but he did produce an enjoyable routine which I liked.

Russell Grant is so high camp but what he brings to the party is his cheerful attitude and smiles he enjoys the routines and in all honesty I enjoy watching him technically not so good but if he keeps on entertaining the way he is he will last a while yet.

Robbie and Ola granted Robbie did look like he was auditioning to be the new face of L'oreal male haircare prodicts but his routine was fun and also his kiss for the camera I kind of liked it and I kind of like him.

So for me the way I want it to happen is this second set of six couples saved and take your best of the rest of the 1st set of six couples who performed. and take a pot guess who the public thought was worse.

See you after the results show

  • Comment number 34.

James Jordan and Brendan Cole are fabulous dancers, great to watch, however, the comments are really not necessary! Just take it board and move on! It's quite disappointing to have to listen to them do that after all the effort they put into the dancing. Granted, that's probably how they feel towards the judges, but they are there to 'judge' and give feedback/comments..to judge!
The biggest disappointment of the show was the spoiler given away about Waterloo Road's wedding!!! BBC how could you do it!!

  • Comment number 35.

    Ojtocs @ 24

No worries. As I said if you round of the average to the nearest whole you get 31 anyway.

I am as surprised as you are that Jason's average would only put him 5th if you put his current average in last years final total. Perhaps the standard isn't as good as last year? But then with many more high scores in the 30's, if he does make it to the final I cannot rule out Jason finishing with an average as good as Kara's average because right now he is doing as well as Kara at this stage last year.

  • Comment number 36.

Just read this comment on the internet which made me smile!! :P .....

"Harry's 10 says more about Alesha's poor judging than the quality of his dance"

Sadly I couldn't agree more!! It really isn't a compliment when Alesha gives someone a 10 is it!!!! Now if the 10 had come from either Len or Craig then you'd know it was worth it, but from Alesha!!!! Oh dear!! I reckon she only did it to wind up Len, she certainly gave him what for regarding Aliona's choreography!! She was almost shouting at Len like he was a school kid!! She really needs to have more respect for the judging panel, as let's face it she really IS the least qualified on there!! (or just replace the useless woman with someone who knows what they're taking about.... KAREN HARDY!!!!).

I really DO miss the golden days of Strictly when you got a full 1min30 of dancing!! If you want to know how it should be done then just go watch some classic clips on YouTube, they're fabulous!!!!

  • Comment number 37.

I am furious been reading about Harry on well known Sunday newspaper site and someone has told us who has left. We all know the results show is done on a Saturday after the main show - but it is really sad that someone has to tell us and even more so that the newspaper had to print it. As for Alesha giving Harry a 10 that made up for Len giving a lower mark. It is not fair for a judge to penalise a dancer for the choreography of his/her professional. The judging as I understand it is for the dancing. Professionals note though all the messing about at the start, we don't like it much either.

  • Comment number 38.

I'm beginning to wonder how long Len will be allowed to go on judging both SCD and DWTS. He's obviously not coping with the jet-lag - it was bad last year but seems much worse this year.

His rudeness to James was awful. What was it? Turn up, show up and shut up? Something like that, and I'm glad that James didn't take it silently. While it would be horrible to see the show tumble into some kind of verbal argument, I am so glad that James responded to Len's rudeness.

Len was way out of order.

  • Comment number 39.

shellbelle - does Anton always get the bum deal? I am starting to wonder and Craig's comments about taking everything more seriously seemed to be directed to him rather than Nancy. He didn't get very far with Laila Rouass either although she was a good dancer. Perhaps he thinks that being comic relief will get him further than actually teaching someone to dance properly. It's another thing that makes me yearn for the days when it seemed to be about technique and the dancing, whereas nowadays it seems it's more for entertainment value - too much fannying about with props and themes. I'm finding it all rather d-u-l-l this year.

I did agree with the judges on Chelsee though - her dance was fantastic.

  • Comment number 40.

I think Len is a disgrace. Whatever this thoughts - and I agree with him one hundred percent about the lack of dancing - he should be graceful and remember it is an entertainment show with a family audience. He sounded like he was selling fruit from a barrow. I'm also amazed that the BBC allows him to do the American show as well when he clearly can't cope with it. Behave like a gentleman please Len, even if you aren't one.

  • Comment number 41.

i am getting fed up with the props lack of dancing and all the mucking about. leys get back to dancing and karen hardy as a judge

  • Comment number 42.

Sadly Strictly seems to be dumbing down. We had one of the Professional Dancers (James) behaving in a most arrogant manner last night. We had the Head Judge (Len) doing his utmost to denigrate another Judge (Craig) and then bawling to a further outburst from James. Isn't it time the Director of the programme had them in for some knuckle rapping? Perhaps we might seem some radical changes to the next series - dropping un-professional Professional Dancers and un-professional judges maybe?

  • Comment number 43.

Evening Strictlyites. Just got in from work and getting the dinner on so I can settle down for the evenings results.

My my arent we all getting in a bother this year!!!! Judges on the rampage, heckling, professionals getting in a strop. Its kindergarten!!!

Just look on the home page of the photo of Russell and you'll remember what it is all about.

(Do agree with most comments though!!!) Chins up and keeeep dancing....

  • Comment number 44.

I hope my faith in the Great British Public will be restored soon, and Nancy will be eliminated. Unfortunately I don't think that will be this week. I know as a nation that we love an underdog but seriously why does the bottom couple seem to get the sympathy vote every week, they're usually there for a good reason. I know that all of the performances weren't perfect but if anyone has to go in place of Nancy it simply isn't fair. Nancy barely dances, in fact for most of the routine this week Anton was simply picking her up like a rag-doll and putting her in a place to pose for a bit!

  • Comment number 45.

Another amazing night last night, perhaps not for the best reasons? The judges seemed a tad erratic with their scoring, comments and opinions - Len especially. Im worried for Nancy, she seems to have some buried dancing talent but Anton doesn't seem to be taking in seriously this year. Take a leaf from Falvia's book and just go for it and play to your celebrity strength and dont automatically rely on comedy and ego! I was pleased to see Audley progress and push himself during training - just not sure how much further he can go? Rory also seems to have stalled somewhat - perhaps it's just the Latin that doesn't suit him? Head and shoulders above the rest is Chelsea - I was bouncing around on my sofa last night, I enjoyed her routine so much - energetic, lots of content and she seems to be growing in confidence week by week!

Not sure who is going out tonight, suspect obviously Nancy will be in the bottom two but think a number of couples could be in for the scary red light treatment tonight!

  • Comment number 46.

Dont thinks its fair that lulu is using vc to drum up votes qc presenters are wearing badges saying vote for lulu this is advertising for he goods on a shopping channel

  • Comment number 47.

Responding to Kazzmatazz - surely its more to do with Antons frenetic choreography? If he focused on her abilities rather than showing off for comedy effect she would look more competant?

Saying that tho, she does have a rag doll quality about her ;-)

  • Comment number 48.

Just watched Saturday's show and while I broadly agree with James and Brendan that the choreography should be geared towards crowd-pleasing as much as point-scoring, I can also see Craig and Len's point that there needs to be some actual *dancing* involved in order for the judges to score the celebrities on the steps. But then I also think that both sides could have put their points across more maturely. Freezing politeness makes just as good TV as handbags, because the audience is waiting for it to kick off... :-D
Alesha "Good Cop" Dixon made it clear why she deserves the job in this show. As a former winner, she is there to support the contestants and mark them on how well they carry out the routine given them. Craig often gives worthwhile technical advice but needs to couch it in more constructively, Bruno also gives worthwhile technical advice but in such a bonkers way people miss it, and Len...
    ...er....
Nope, I'm having trouble seeing the purpose of the mercurial Mr Goodman. Apart from to keep the ITCC call centre staff in employment.

  • Comment number 49.

    36
A few facts for you as you need them. Karen Hardy in her red button role said that the that she would have given a ten for Harry.
Also compared to the other judges Alesha did not get into any silly rows with the dancers by making unconstructive comments (Craig) or shouting at dancers on the balcony (Len). She is also a former champ with the best ever average around 36 I wager she knows more about dance then the most SCD plebs. Actually I thought she was generous but she does not have to justify her marks to anybody else

  • Comment number 50.

I think Lulu is behaving like a silly school-girl but looked quite ridiculous in that red dress. We are (still) amazed that Russell Grant is still there as he has all the charm of a dancing doughnut! Most of the criticism is aimed at Nancy but at least she does attempt -and succeeds - in actually dancing and not prancing about! The footballer with the shoulder-length hair is more akin to 'wild man of Borneo' than to someone trying to 'dance'!

  • Comment number 51.

I was shocked to see that Nancy had got through once again. Is the public vote really taken into account, for surely no one in their right mind would vote for her. She is not even entertaining, does not relate to either Anton or the rest of the competitors and seems only interested in herself. Both Anne Widdecombe and John Sargent were good fun and entertaining. Rory Bremner was much more worthy. I am now beginning to lose interest as I feel all credibility may have been lost. I need my faith restoring.

  • Comment number 52.

It was really sad to see Rory and Erin leave tonight their quickstep was a real highlight of the series so far. Chelsee was fantastic well done you thoroughly deserved 36 keep it up girl! I'm not too happy with some of the comments about Alex and Jason this week. I think Alex did really well with the Rhumba and did not deserve a score of 4. I think some of the comments about Jason are quite harsh. This may not have been his strongest dance this week but he still put in a good performance and i know he'll come back fighting next week!!!!!!!!! Team Donovan all the way!!!!!

  • Comment number 53.

    52. I agree. Go Team Donovan!!!

  • Comment number 54.

Although I love the outfits that everybody wears I have to agree with another viewer about Tess's dress this week. It looked like a piece of rag and it had a VPL almost around her waist. I found the visible 'top' knickerline was very distracting. She should be wearing something much more 'in keeping' with a presenter's position! To comment abut the dancers It's time that Nancy went, then they can get on with judging the best of the dancers - the real competition can begin.

  • Comment number 55.

Am I the only one who loved Alex and James's rumba? I thought the choreography was beautiful and Alex looked lovely. I wasn't surprised when James complained to the judges. He saw red for a moment and I didn't blame him.
I love Audley too. He's taking a genuine pleasure in dancing and his whole face lights up when he gets a good comment.
I also seem to be the only one who wasn't quite so keen on Chelsee's quickstep. I had the feeling that she was trying to keep up a lot of the time. She's only little and it was a very quick quickstep!

What on earth did they put Tess in this weekend? Last night's dress was hideous & unflattering - what has happened to the elegant evening gowns she has worn in the past and please can you do something with her hair - it looks a mess all the time now. If her hair wont hold a style, pin it up elegantly!

    I agree with the comments made in "no.25" re:-scoring. Bottom couple should only get "1"(unless a tie)For example(with 12 couples left):- 1st gets 12: 2nd gets 11: 3rd 10: joint 4th,5th&6th get 9: 7th gets 6: joint 8th&9th get 5: 10th get 3: 11th get 2: 12th & last, get "1" - this week Chelsee, top with 12 & Nancy, bottom with 5 - were only seperated by 7points, instead of 11!!!
No wonder some of best dancers end up in bottom two.

SCD has now become an 'entertainment' show, in that the quality of dance matters less than entertainment value. The music, as someone else mentioned earlier, is really good but who picked the songs? Is the plethora of Queen due to Anita's husband being present?
I likie the format better when it was classical dance music, and foot placement and style won over silly shimmeys and flicked hair. The judges do not seem to bother rating them on the dane, just if they liked it!

It's been 4-weeks since the Strictly 2011 new boy arrived, Pasha Kovalev. Through careful obserbation I must mention how fantastic his choreography is. He is an amazing dancer and I notice that you bring so much energy, vitality, passion, emotion and individuality to your choreographies...and you make the perfect ballroom partnership with Chelsee. Your quickstep was absolutly breathtaking and I hope you both continue to work hard and go from strength to strength as you are emerging as serious contenders for the glitterball. I hope to see Pasha in next years show in 2012 becoming a permanent feature of the strictly crowd. Go Pasha! Go Chelsee! ;-)

Chris on 59. Absolutely right about Pasha. He is fabulous.

I was pleased to see the applecart upset a bit by Jason and Holly not doing so well - I loved Chelsee and Harry. But what I really, really hate are all the horrible props, 'sexy' costumes which are not sexy, simply tacky and those really bad little scenes they put together with Jason wearing a moustache etc. Alex is a beautiful girl with a lovely figure but that jumpsuit was just horrendous and previously they managed to make Holly look like a sack of potatoes! Please stop trying to be like the American version and give us the strictly we loved!!

Well said annie. I've posted on one of the other threads that the vast majority of fans seem to hate the VT's and the props. I thought the judges sitting with Claudia and laughing at the dancers was particularly unappealling last night and can go some way to explaining why both the Sat and Sun show (all on Sat) were bad tempered with a strange atmosphere. For once the fans seem totally united in their dislike of the props and the VT's. How can we make the BBC listen?

I agree with no 25 & 57 (Mrs Arcanum & Mal) the scoring is all marked up instead of down when there are ties. This is allowing the couple coming bottom of the leader board to be saved as there is not the gap there should be. Please correct this BBC so there is a top score of 12 (last week) and a bottom score of 1.

Also if we still had the dance off, then Rory would have been saved as he was a far better dancer than Nancy, who really needs to go, as better dancers are going and we have to suffer her performances. Rory was really entertaining and improving steadily each week so should have been saved in a dance off. The dance off used to make it worth watching the 'Sunday' show to see who the judges would decide on, now it's hardly worth it, we can just watch It Takes Two on Monday to know.

Pleeeeeeeeease BBC score down and give us back the dance off?

  • Comment number 65.

It would create far more problems bringing back the Dance Off.

Can anyone justify why all the Nancy & Anton's voters should be ridden roughshod over, just because YOU personally do not like them or think they are not entertaining? If people are prepared to spend money voting for their favourite there should NEVER be a means for those votes to be wasted/disregarded or treated as irrelevant. The Dance Off does exactly this.

Why is nobody talking about Robbie and Ola? Since his nervous first dance, Robbie has given 3 fantastic performances. Technically perhaps not the strongest contender...yet, but he totally embraces the feel of the dance. And, he has a great feel for the music and creates fantastic lines!
As for Ola's choreography, well, she is a pure genius and works so perfectly towards her celebrity's ability and courage!

    My favourites...

karen @64, you are pre-supposing that, if there had been a dance off, Rory and Nancy would've still been the bottom two. I think that it's more likely people would've voted some more for Nancy and Lulu would've been at the bottom instead.
yes fredandlaura, I think he's terrific too, for all the reasons you give. Hope he's there till the end with Harry, Chelsee and Russell.

  • Comment number 68.

Absolutely loved Chelsee and Pasha's quickstep. She is an amazingly talented dancer and his choreography is wonderful. I think they could well be this years winners.

  • Comment number 69.

I loved the show and can't wait for the halloween special next week.

I do wish the judges would stop shouting at each other and telling each other off. They are all entitled to their own opinion.

However, I also think that they are unfairly marking the contestants. Jason and Alex were undermarked, whereas Anita was overmarked. I don't think the fact that they are all doing different dances helps. It used to be so much easier to compare dances when they all did the same dance in the same week.

  • Comment number 70.

Chelsee and Pasha deserve to be top of leader board - I feel people are really warming to this couple as they appreciate the hard work and improvement - Pasha put an amazing amount of steps into his choreography - He is an amazing dancer and seems a really nice person - I think they will go from strength to strength . I will be following them when we finally get the team names announced. I understood they were about to decide on this has anyone heard when it will be????

  • Comment number 71.

I so agree Vicky that it would be much better to have just two same dances each week (1 ballroom 1 latin) it would be far easier to follow and to compare how each of the couples are doing.

  • Comment number 72.

I agree..... the marking is not very consistent but it's difficult to compare so many styles at once.
Also agree Chelsee and Pasha are starting to shine. Real contenders now!
