Professional Dance Troupe line-up completed

BBC Emily BBC Emily | 14:07 UK time, Thursday, 26 August 2010

Hey everyone! Hot off the press from the guys in the BBC Press Office, we've just received some fascinating news about the brand new Strictly Dance Troupe:

Four new dancers have joined to complete the new Strictly Come Dancing Professionals' Dance Troupe, which will perform spectacular dance routines throughout series eight.

They are:  Tanya Perera, who was a featured dancer in the West End production of Dirty Dancing; Shem Jacobs and Aneta Piotrowska, who have both performed in the Polish Dancing with the Stars; and Crystal Main, who has performed on Strictly Come Dancing in South Africa.

Crystal, Tanya, Aneta and Shem will join Darren Bennett and Ian Waite to make up the six-person group and together they will make their group debut performance in this year's Strictly launch show, due to transmit on BBC One on September 11th.

Darren Bennett will dance with Crystal Main

Ian Waite will dance with Aneta Piotrowska

Shem Jacobs will dance with Tanya Perera

As well as the troupe debut, the launch show will feature a red carpet event at BBC TV Centre, a revamped set, pairings of celebrities and their pro dancing partners in front of the studio audience, plus a group dance featuring all this year's competitors.

So what do you think? Remember you can apply for a limited number of free tickets to the launch show via the BBC Shows and Tours website.

    this will be interesting

  • Comment number 2.

Darren without Lilia? Just not right.

Have seen Tanya and Crystal in Latin Fever, and they are fantastic dancers however, so am looking forward to seeing what they have to offer!

  • Comment number 3.

I completely agree Darren with out Lilia is going to be strange, actually so will Christina with out Brian...still I'm sur the show will be amazing!!

  • Comment number 4.

How does the live show work if we don't get to see it till saturday? Surely, by then, the papers and celeb pairings will already be known - doesen't it make more sense to show it live on wednesday?

  • Comment number 5.

I'm actually quite looking forward to what this dance troupe will be like.
I presume we'll still get to see some of the other Pros (that will be partnered with celebs) do a few Pro dances themelves as well, yes, no?
Will the Dance Troupe be performing every weekend, Saturday and Sunday? And will the other Pros not in the Dance Troupe be dancing together with the Troupe members at some points during the series?

  • Comment number 6.

Hi Miriam_rose - Yes, the plan is that the Dance Troupe will be performing every weekend. I don't know if that's going to be one or two different dances, but I'll try and find out for you. And, as far as I understand it, yes, the other Pros will also join in with some of the Troupe performances as well.

That's a good question, it never click with me that it is going to be filmed on wednesday and shown on Saturday.

I am so looking forward to the dance troupe numbers, though a Lilia-less SCD fills me with dismay 8-(
Will we be seeing her on ITT at all? I do hope so. When she and Darren chatted on choreography corner it was wonderful - so informative and inspiring.

I guess it remains to be seen if the pro troupe works. Must admit I'm sorry if it means we lose the demonstration dances from "our" pros, that's always been one of my favourite parts of the show. I can't help wondering if the audience will feel the same attachment to pros who only do demonstrations and whilst we already know Ian and Darren, will we feel we get to know the others?

  • Comment number 10.

I am so worried about Lilia, how will she cope with Darren flauting himself with all the lovelies, I hope that Darren doesn't lose his spark.

  • Comment number 11.

i am going to miss lilia this year, its not going to be the same with out her.

  • Comment number 12.

Will Marian Keyes boycott the show now that Lilia isn't in the show? Oooh could we get Darren to teach Marian a dance and then show it on ITT? Claudia would love that I know... Is Karen Hardy going to come back on ITT to do the progress reviews? Always loved that.

  • Comment number 13.

I hope the dancers look to the facebook board as well, as I hope to start a thread for the troupe there too. I'm sure the feedback posted on it will be positive in the main.

  • Comment number 14.

I shall be watching with interest the replacements for Matthew and Lilia, they will be a hard act to follow. I've never felt less enthusiastic for the start of a series of Strictly, in my opinion the BBC have made some very bad decisions about Strictly this year.

  • Comment number 15.

    Hi everyone.

Anyone know where the message boards are this year???????

  • Comment number 16.

Will miss Lilia, hope she is asked to do specials and ITT

  • Comment number 17.

I am in therapy because Matthew Cutler is not in the line up.

  • Comment number 18.

I agree that Darren without Lilia is not right. I will miss Darren, Lilia, Brian and Ian. Bring them back, please.

  • Comment number 19.

Please, ask Lilia to do specials and ITT with Claudia.

  • Comment number 20.

What happened to all the other professionals like Anton and Erin or Lilia or Vincent and Flavia ? :(

  • Comment number 21.

im also not as excited as normal for the new strictly because of the absense of the pro dancers we all know and love! they are the main reason i watch it. i love lila and darren and flavia and vincent, and what about anton, erin and mathew. why do they make such dramtic changes!!! if it aint broke why fix it? no one seems to know what the old dancers are now doing, would love to know??

  • Comment number 22.

I think its sad that we have lost Brian - he was quite a breath of fresh air - charming, talented and handsome too. BUt we look forward to seeing the new dancers who I am sure will be great - bring it on

  • Comment number 23.

New dancers are going to be fabulous but a real shame that Lilia's not in the show

  • Comment number 24.

Why ever has someone decided to sack Lilia. She has the most wonderful personality not to mention being a fantastic dancer. With so many new professionals it will take a long time for them to become known to us viewers. It is a sad day for us Lilia fans.

  • Comment number 25.

What a shame its not live.. its a shame its been in the press etc.. I would really loved to see it before the anouncements etc where made. Far more excitement. I know many people who arnt now watching as they are bored with the line up of celebs... big mistake BBC you should have done it live or recorded undercover in the afternoon and shown live that night.

  • Comment number 26.

I can't believe there is no Lilia. How can you do this I loved watching Darren and Lilia. Too many changes all at once and Sunday results show was previously a disaster so why do it again!! Bring back Lilia.

  • Comment number 27.

Without wishing to be rude - hope you guys give Darren's new partner a chance :-) Crystal has the "full-package" - she's very beautiful, has a gorgeous personality in real-life and is a superb dancer to-boot.

  • Comment number 28.

Can someone please tell me why Lilia is not here this year when her husband Darren is?

  • Comment number 29.

Please bring back Lilia. Why isn't she dancing with Darren?

  • Comment number 30.

You've a huge section of the website dovoted to what you call "The Team", comprising pictures and info on the judges and the presenters, as if they were important, and you've another section called "Dancers", but which is concentrated on the celebrity contestants, but nothing whatever, no pictures, no bios of the real stars of the show, the real professional dancers. Why on earth not? Do you think that they are not important?
I'd like to see you manage without them! Well, no, I wouldn't, actually. Don't try it!
You can hardly call the little scrap of info you've given above "full details of the professional troupe." We would actually like to know what are the teaching qualifications of the new professionals. Do they have any?
Isn't this awful new website going to address any of the issues that are really important to SCD fans?
