SPECIAL 1 TV: Winners and Losers

Post categories:

The Special 1 | 12:12 UK time, Friday, 3 December 2010

Five, nil, four, nil and one nil . . . . is there something in the air that has made the winners losers and the losers winners? Or can winners ever be losers even though the winners lost in disastrous, humiliating circumstances? And if you are a winning loser, do you then become a winner or do you always remain a loser? Confused? Now you know how Sven feels.

But remember, this is not a suitable replacement for a blog.

Seriously, I'm asking a question. All week there have been blogs buidling up to the big decisions, with plenty of criticism aimed at the BBC. There are numerous articles here discussing the fall out, who's to blame etc but all of the sudden, there is no blog. When we have an event of mass interest, at least to your English readers, you provide no related blog. Instead we get this? What gives?

Still, it's good to see how the BBC uses its licence fee money - the ruination of anything good in the race for ratings.

If muck raking andviewing figures are all the BBC is interested in now - and it quite clearly is - then I guess the case for their TV tax is rapidly diminishing, as it's becoming indistinguishable from ITV, apart from the BBC's massive shoulder chip.

Good to see that you have logged into the bbc sport's website having known for months that the "real journalists" have left. Those "real journalists have moved months ago. Why would such an informed guy like you visit a website which has no "real journalists"?

And, using the words "horrible foreigners" as a sarcastic way of making a point makes it seem like you're impying that Pananoram was being discriminating. Why not make an official complaint instead of commenting on a light hearted video?

Very amusing. Better to take the mickey and have a laugh than to take everything so seriously as we seem to be doing recently. Losing 5-0 is not the end of the world and losing the World Cup bid is not either though the former was surprising and the latter decidedly not. Real Madrid can still win something after all and England cannot or will not.

At least we are still number one in the world when it comes to having a laugh. Will follow this blog from now on as I only just came across it whilst checking the TMS Podcast after another brilliant day for England down under.

@35 I respect your view matey but the emails & comments that i see all over the Internet, from facebook to blogs & onto the youtube special1 TV fan channel, the overwhelming favorite for a new latex pundit is Roy Keane (& obviously my choice too).
I think that for regular long term fans it is long overdue & after all the special one can rotate his squad & change formation if needs be... (Cabbage man capello gets dragged out when necessary).& Roy's hair trigger temper would make him a Gem of a pundit..& we have been waiting for a clash with Mick McCarthy since Mick turned up at the world cup.
Myself & many other long term fanatics think that it would freshen up the show & add plenty more scope for comedy football chaos.
It's OK for those who only just came across the show through the BBC - (all credit to commissioning editors) Because it's fresh to all of them ...if sometimes confusing with the long term "In jokes" to contend with.

I was generalising as much as possible OK?
So I hope that has cleared up the misunderstanding. & you were right in saying that Steve Bruce the other week was pretty damn good & would make a good regular.
Wayne's Word has already returned once this series too.

a problem that is becoming harder for the writer as time goes on is that as more caricatures become popular - More people want to see there fave every damn week (& I'm the same, it can't be helped).
I see comments & requests every week on my Fan Channel(youtube)asking..
"where's Dave from Newcastle or where's Ronnie puppet,Nelson Mandela, potato,Big boss" & the list goes on & on...But 5 minutes will always be 5 minutes (except when it's 6, LOL, So callers etc will become semi regular the longer the show continues & managers/celebs come & go.
