BBC 6music Live: La Roux/Heaven 17 & Little Boots/Gary Numan*

BBC 6music Live6music has witnessed some unique performances with the cream of today's talent joining forces with rock's elder statesmen to create new musical moments. This great tradition looks set to continue in 2010.

For the latest session things take an electronic turn as La Roux, riding high from a breakthrough year, and the influential Heaven 17 swap synth licks for what is sure to be an unforgettable collaboration.

As if that's not electrifying enough we'll be upping the voltage yet further with another performance recorded in December at our Maida Vale studios when electro-pop legend Gary Numan teamed up with BBC Sound of 2009 winner Little Boots.

Catch all 18 sessions tracks and exclusive interviews from the musicians on BBC Red Button and bbc.co.uk/6music.

December 2009 saw the latest addition to the BBC iPlayer family, with the start of a beta evaluation period for Freesat devices.

This is the first time that we've delivered a service as complicated as BBC iPlayer onto a normal, household set top box or TV set, and we initially restricted the beta to a closed group of users.

Since then many Freesat users have been asking when they'll be able to try it for themselves, and as our testing has been going well we're making the beta product available more widely, and you're invited!

Snow need to panic

Across the UK snow has caused lots of disruption. The recently relocated contingent of TV Platforms in Manchester are embracing new ways of working and are fully acclimatising to the situation. Due to difficult driving conditions and delays on public transport a number of employees chose to work from home on Tuesday. The only people who made it into the office were those who live in the City Centre in Manchester.

As the car park was suitably empty and as no inner child can resist that much untouched snow, lunchtime inevitably involved much tomfoolery. There was about 5 inches of snow overnight and it didn't really stop all day.

Powder the Bear

So we decided that we should enjoy the snow and have our lunch and breaks outside in the fresh air. To that end we needed a breakout area. So we built one. To this end please enjoy a few pictures of our new office. It includes the Snow Lounge, featuring a Snowfa, a TV (which is admittedly a bit flaky) and our new mascot Powder the Bear.
