From Taru, Finland

Taru

During the winter it is dark and lack of sun shine which provides D-vitamin producing in our body system. Our central health care system and doctors have said that it is better for us is we achieve the D-vitamin from daily food. Of course there is an alternative that you are able to go a shop and buy products including D-vitamin.
I show you how it is to make a fish for food.

The first you have to go fishing or you can go to a shop and buy fish. You should choose fishes which includes fat, 'cos D-vitamin is compounded by fishes fat. I didn't had time to go fishing but it would be a possibility also during the weekends but I bought the fishes which are small and quick to repair and doesn't include so much fat.

Ingredients

I had to take a pan, a plate, fishes, a wooden fork, butter and salt. The fishes are vendaces. It is a fish which grows in the inner land lakes.

Cooking fish

I put the heat under the pan and took butter. The butter have to melt before adding the fishes on the pan.

Cooking fish

When the pan is hot and butter cooks, I add the vendaces to the fat. I spread a bit salt over the fish and after for a while cooking turned them to another side.

When the vendace is cooked by both side it looks like having a golden cover. It has to spread salt to this side too. The time for cooking is about 3-5 minutes to both sides. It depends how strong the heat is under the pan.

Lunch

I cooked also mashed potatoes. And then I just added the vendaces to my plate. A delicious lunch was ready to enjoy.

Have a nice day
Taru

    Hi
Gabi85: Vendace is a very delicios fish. This is only one way to cook it. It can be made like a soup (including potatoes, with milk or without milk, onions, pepper or just milk, potatoes, salt and vendace), a canned food and a salted fish. Hope you have an opportunity to tast.

Tening and Walldy: Yes fish is a good food product and I am glad you enjoy it.

Bahij: Good question. I think that I wrote D-vitamin like it is written in finnish and now I think that how you wrote it Vitamin D is the right form. Hope the teacher blogger find the right kind of form on it.

Future: Hmm...You can learn many kind of things here and the most of all you are able to enlarge your opinions and views. Despite of different cultures and policies human beings are quite the same at the bottom. That is fasionating.

    All the best you

    Hi Taru and Bahij,

Bahij is correct - in English we say "Vitamin D" or "Vitamin C" - but I have no idea why!

    Take care

Hello Taru! Unfortunately, I have not found an Italian translation of this kind of fish yet. Anyway, we usually fry food in olive oil so it is healthier and less stodgy. We mainly use butter when we prepare cake. I think once butter used to be added to almost every dish, but since we found out it is fattier that olive oil we have started using oil especially when we fry fish. Cheers!!

    Hi Taru,

You know, I am into cooking so it was interesting to read your blog about Vendace. As I have never heard about Vendace I had to google for it and found out that it is freshwater whitefish. The meal looks absolutely delicious and I would like to try it.

On some occasions we go to restaurants, where I often order some fish because I like fish very much but my family does not, unfortunately. So that is the reason why I rarely cook fish. Anyway, I opened a can of tuna in olive oil yesterday, added finally chopped onions, some mustard and stirred gently. The dinner was ready.

    Take care,
    Anita from Slovakia

    Hello Taru,

I notice that you have tickled the taste buds of everyone out here. I like fish very much so I just love to taste different varieties of fish whole heartedly. I even want to taste puffer fish once which is an ubiquitous delicacy of Japan.

The recipe you have shared seems very easy and simple and mouth watering at the same time. Thank you once again and it's been wonderful and informative reading your blog posts dear Taru.

    Hi
Pary: Thank you for your comment, you are so kind.

Filippo: I think it is obvious that you were not able to find Vendace in Italy, cos it did not belong to its fish spieces. Here is more information about Vendace http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coregonus_albula. Olive oil is very good to cook food, I use it for many things f. ex. baking, but in this case it have to be butter.

Anita: yes, it is freshwater white fish. Slovakia has also some freshwater lakes, so you may find some others to taste.

Fulano: You are right. The food from water and sees are the mostly delicious. I have also tasted shrimps and octabussy.

Naheed: The daily food have to be simble and quick to repair. If have more time, like on weekends, it can be done some salates and beverages with.

Thanks all of you for your comments.

However ,the method from you to make the fish is never tasted by me,so I will do it when I finished this business.

Thank you again for sharing such wonderfull food with us.
