I questioned my desire to continue playing football

The difference in my team's performance from Wednesday night to Saturday afternoon brings the words chalk and cheese to mind.

Our 2-1 defeat at home to Albion Rovers last week ranks with one of our worst performances since we came in to the Scottish Football League.

Three days later and we have comfortably defeated Berwick - a team we previously couldn't buy a win against - 2-0 on their own patch. Football certainly is a funny old game.

Once again, I have to commend our manager, Harry Cairney, for the way he dealt with our defeat. Personally, I'm not a fan of dissecting a performance immediately after the game, but perhaps at our level we don't get the time to do it any other way.

Annan agony at losing two-goal lead

If only our game on Saturday had lasted a mere fifty minutes we would have walked away from Almondvale with an incredible three points.

We were 2-0 up and had started the second half quite well; keeping possession in good areas of one of the worst pitches I've ever played on. The league leaders then hit us with a 25-minute goal-blitz that left us all bitterly disappointed and pointless.

I have to say after the first 15 minutes or so I would never have imagined we would be in the dressing room with a two-goal lead at half-time.

I had barely had a touch of the ball as I tried desperately to get close to Steve Tosh and stop him playing - and not for the first time I may add!

Gradually we felt our way in to the game, as did I, and goals from Kevin Neilson and David Cox gave us a lead that not many people would have expected.

We were back in action on Tuesday night at Galabank where we shared the points in a 1-1 draw with Berwick Rangers.

I can vouch for everyone in the Annan dressing room when I say that we were disappointed to pick up just one point but I'm sure Berwick will feel exactly the same.

When I think back on the game, however, a draw was probably a fair result.

It was a bit of an up-and-down performance from ourselves but I hope that we can be allowed that bit of inconsistency from last night because we only just played our second game since 12 December.

No ice-cold beer as Annan remain in cold storage

After the late call-off of our weekend game with Albion Rovers, we were looking forward to our re-arranged home fixture against Forfar on Wednesday night. Surprise, surprise, my phone has just went off and it was always going to be our manager telling us once again that the match has fell foul of the weather.

If we're being honest, we were never that confident that the game would go ahead. We trained on Monday night and the pitch was still completely frozen.

Although there was an improvement on Tuesday, as soon as I walked out the house at 0630 in the morning, unfortunately the decision was only going to go one way.
