    First!

  • Comment number 2.

Is that Alex on the table?

  • Comment number 3.

    Hi

Just popped in for a quick check - guess its a liquid luch then;)

  • Comment number 4.

I said it last night, but the vampires do have lovely crystal... Very tasteful!

  • Comment number 5.

ahh a lovely glass of Alex ;)

so as i was saying any ideas on the skeletons on the table ?

  • Comment number 6.

I think my parents have glasses like that - even now knowing what it really is, I'd rather not drink it.

  • Comment number 7.

@Ewan: OMG, that is macabre, but funny! :D

  • Comment number 8.

@ewan: That's heartless! XD - we're all sick puppies here!

  • Comment number 9.

It's still a cocktail I'm tempted to try out.

  • Comment number 10.

Afternoon all, Rebecca and mods! What a party last night!

What did DM say the blood was made of? Tomato juice and beetroot juice? Because as we all know from a slightly creepy discussion on a previous blog, real blood would separate.

Off now to see what happened on the other blogs after I left last night. I see the DM Q&A ran to 9 pages.

  • Comment number 11.

    Must resist temptation to sing

Alex on the table in china

as it might be considered very poor taste.

More Alex should be fun after all a Ghost friend for Annie and someone who will judge and call people on things is interesting.

Alex is a very Spade a Spade type personality to Annie's Shovel outlook Annie may have the power but without the will - after all a mistake with a neighbour and being told to let Eve die there will be problems to come.

In a way it adds tension will Annie or Alex stay and if so one has to leave makes this Sunday a day of fear for us all.

  • Comment number 12.

    2. Classic

  • Comment number 13.

Reposting comment from last blog (I always miss the new ones, hmpf):

@931: Me, too! I couldn't stand Lauren, yet I really like Alex. I don't think they're that similar, there are a lot of subtle things that make them quite different, I think. Lauren just came over as loud-mouthed and whiny imo, Alex is sarcastic and witty but it comes across in a different/better way.
I also prefer Kate Bracken to the other actress.

  • Comment number 14.

Mmmm, 4 parts beetroot 4 parts tomato juice - that's gotta be at least one of your five a day!

  • Comment number 15.

I just thought, bear with me little late in the game, Tom won't have killed Hal. Alex will have saved him?

Alex is now Hals chance of a relationship if she doesn't go through her door. The safest one that a vampire can have

  • Comment number 16.

    decanter. crystal glasses, silver tray

elegance Mcnair or Hammer house style
light could be the place where Alex dies as not fitting a refined atmosphere but more a cellar
    sadly unable to see more
    by the way
the tablecloth seems rough and not the type one would expect in 'selected circles'
as Ewan suggested , it is about either Alex or Rachel Cutler

Cutler always gives back the change it seems

  • Comment number 17.

You'd think with all the fancy decanter, glasses and tray that someone would have ironed the tablecloth!

  • Comment number 18.

Reposting Bone Table thoughts from last blog...

There are at least four skulls on the bone table. We don't know what it's about yet but we've seen way too much of it for it not to be important. Maybe it's all about the Old Ones...

The vampires put Eve on it at full moon and were going to kill her on there and it looked as though the catch of the day was killed there too.

Of course, they may just have a particularly Gothic interior designer...

  • Comment number 19.

    Re: bone table

I reckon EW had a soft spot for it - maybe brought it with him, and none of the subsequent top brass at Stokers have had chance to get rid of it - they've all either been killed to quickly or, in Cutler's case - he's too busy on Twitter (even though it's not to his taste).

  • Comment number 20.

    Mark Gatiss has just tweeted:
Delighted to say I'm on #onlyconnect tonight, wearing special 'cleverness' glasses like they had on 'Ask the Family'. BBC4 8.30pm.

  • Comment number 21.

    Hi Everyone!

Is it okay to discuss the episode here?

    Just in case:

Spoiler Warning (speculation about Making History - nothing beyond what was shown in the episode)

Finally managed to catch up with the episode. Wow is all I have to say. Absolutely brilliant and can't wait for the final one next week. Agree with everyone who suggested that FE already changed history by bringing Hal into the household. Thought her reasoning was not very convincing when Annie suggested the same thing. After all didn't she already fullfill the prophecy by dying in the future. I really like Alex as a ghost but if it is a choice between her and Annie I think I would still prefer to have Annie back in series 5.

  • Comment number 22.

    Mmmmmmm im thristy now.

  • Comment number 23.

So DM can do a Cockerney accent and ballet dance can he? But would rather see him tango ;)

On the bright side, at least they put Alex's blood in proper crystal glasses. Imagine the indignity of being poured into a paper cup.

  • Comment number 26.

    25 - ROFL

  • Comment number 27.

25 - yes that would be barbaric

  • Comment number 28.

    25 - brilliant, Inch!

  • Comment number 29.

Good afternoon everyone! Hope you've all recovered from last night. *big wave to Sasha, Gingernut, Woome and all*

26 woomewithtulips Yes let's just hope they have her for supper or dinner rather than "tea" otherwise Kemp will be spinning in Purgatory.

I agree with the general consensus that Annie will choose to cross over into the afterlife with Eve in tow and Alex will be the new resident ghost. I don't want LC to leave but I can't think of any other conclusion for her character. Plus I like Alex...she'll be a great addition to the house.

  • Comment number 30.

    23 Tango, LizzieT?
Blimey, just seeing him move a bar stool caused all kinds of conniptions.

  • Comment number 31.

    @blood in paper cup

now, in proper glass bottles ... it is a bit better

poor Alex, personnally I vote for keeping Alex. Our Annie's destiny seems edging toward having ticked all the boxes. And since Mitchell 'was the love of her life' , hence no future love interest; unless the BH human fiming set wants to turn into a playground, Eve is the one 'baby'. And babies grow up.

BH universe needs a new ghost and Alex is ideal match for Hal. he cannot kill her, and he has not killed her. If he drank her blood, it was unbeknowst to him it was hers. He was attracted to her and her to him. Will not kill her twice and welll he is undead, she is dead and there is no BT20 vengeful Lia to mess up with his tight jeans...

We need new blood, Lenora Critchlow has been in the serie for four years. It is her right to fly out of the nest like AT, RT, SK...

  • Comment number 32.

    @inch - afternoon.

Yes, this series does seem to be leading up to an exit/resolution for Annie - especially after Emry's comment about a resolution not always being a nice thing.

  • Comment number 33.

@everyone (it seems!) Yes, A sad farewell to Annie and a yay! come on in to Alex at the end of this series.

At least if/when she goes, I reckon they're going to give Annie a cracking exit - no hastily rewritten final scenes or off-screen goodbyes. And LC deserves no less!

  • Comment number 34.

right im absolutely FUMING!! ive just read the DM q&a and i posted a comment. all i said was "where did all these people come from" because i was shocked at how busy it was and i didnt recognise any of the names.
    so @tomkat1960 717 GET A GRIP!!!
no way did i say that this blog is only for the regulars and people were not allowed to have a say! thats not what i said, nor my thoughts.
    im soooo mad!!!
and an emma out there, that goes to you too.

  • Comment number 35.

more lovely reviews for our show

    http://www.sfx.co.uk/2012/03/19/blog-being-human-better-than-ever/

yes, it seems everybody is readying oneself to a 'late departure' of our favourite ghost as we need a new Nina. Alex can be a no nonsense Nina, supernatural and moral compass but without the holier than thou attitude.

Nina was a werewolf not a saint and she was too quick on judging people and not good enough on admitting her mistakes. Yes Ewan, I hold a very, very long grudge....

    Bring on Alex!!!!

  • Comment number 36.

Shows like Being Human make me proud to be British.

  • Comment number 37.

    @ leanne
    relax

it was a natural disaster zone cum combat zone, snippers and air raids it was like these 1970's movies about inferno and earthquake
in short it was 2012 THE MOVIE and the end of earth of the blog

    BUT WE MADE IT
we survived and we all love our show
    some nerves were frayed
I am sure some peeps are still reeling

I am sure poor Damien is still reeling and poor Rebecca is wishing she never ever had accepted the position or had come up with the live Q&A brilliant notion

take a seat in the sofa, relax we are all among friends
and do not worry, Panda and I have also been at one point at a receiving end and we have survived

  • Comment number 38.

I guess I'm in the minority in preferring Annie over Alex. That said, I still liked her a lot in this episode (more so than in the previous one) and the banter between her and Hal was great. Also have warmed to FW or rather Eve as I guess there is pretty much no doubt now that it is really her. Anyone else think she might have misread the scroll? I'm a little surprised that some of the reviews have been less than favourable concerning the actress. I thought she did a good job especially while having the rather thankless job of Basil Exposition in this episode.

  • Comment number 39.

This has nothing to do with the episode or picture, but at work yesterday (I'm a veterinary nurse) I bandaged a black cat with bright yellow all around his chest after surgery, then said to him "You look like a bee, and I like bees."

  • Comment number 40.

31 Saint 32 Fiona and 33 Lizzy - Agreed - I think Annie will go out with a bang and probably will bump off a few OOs along the way. After 4 years of being our Ghost in Grey, poor Lenora deserves a great future in other roles...or at least a change of clothes.

    Hi Leanne!

If Rebecca ever recovers from last night and decides to do another cast member Q&A, perhaps it would be a good idea to advise all the new peeps to set up their BBC accounts a few days in advance so they can get past the moderation phase before the main event. We could also collect all the questions on a special blog post so they're easily at hand for the cast member/Rebecca. It would also prevent people getting confused about where to post their questions. Just a suggestion.

  • Comment number 41.

@patheticat - excellent - always good to use quotes in the real world.

It will be very sad to lose Annie but we've coped losing Mitchell, George and Nina, so I think we'll cope again. Plus we've had some excellent characters set up over this series and it'll be good to see them develop further.

  • Comment number 42.

oh saint *goes in for a cuddle!*
i just was mad because my comment got miss understood, and i needed to stick up for myself. im not having people thinking im a meanie when im not! its ok now ive cooled down! x x x

  • Comment number 43.

I realize I have phrased my comment badly. What I meant to say is that a lot of people here think that Annie's storyline has run its course and that she will be deparing after this series (not suggesting that anyone here dislikes Annie) while I still hope that won't be the case (okay I'm in denial, I know).
Anyone know whether there will be a Q&A with Lenora after the final episode?

  • Comment number 44.

Well, that was quite some ride! I haven't managed to catch up on the blogposts but just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the episode. Twisty and turny like a twisty turny thing. Loved the 50s flashbacks (you're becoming like a drunk who never buys a round!) and loved finding out more about Cutler and Hal. Alex is a really good addition, hope she sticks around.
The relationship between Annie and Eve was also very believable (don't swear. Have you been smoking?) and the way the future was evoked was brilliant. Oh and Hal on the poster. Scary stuff.
And then, the arrival of Mr Snow (is the girl in pigtails our beloved Hettie?). How much menace can you put in a few words.
It's going to be a long week! Right off to try and catch up...

  • Comment number 45.

    36 Saffz:D

38 Black_Dwarf - Hi. I still prefer Annie, I just think if we have to lose her after episode 8, the future of BH will be safe in the hands of DM (of course Hal has to survive), MS, AG (Cutler won't die either, I forbid it) and Kate Bracken. Alex would never replace Annie, but she'd be a great character in her own right - plus I think the actress has great chemistry with DM.

    39 patheticat ROFL!

  • Comment number 46.

    @inch - hiya!

@rebecca denton- not sure if your reading this but thanks for asking my question, i was made up!!!

  • Comment number 47.

(Dead) Alex and Hal bickering about RentAGhosting/Ghostbusting LOL.
And I love it when DM does a spot-on impression of Alex's high-pitched indignant "Hah!"

Cutler may be a big bad now, but I can't see him getting on with the OOs - maybe he'll be wearing a white hat (or at least a grey one) by the end of the series? Or just dead!

  • Comment number 48.

I am with you Black_dwarf, I really hope they just help Alex with her unfinished business, get her to take baby Eve through to purgatory and Annie, Hal and Tom live happily ever after. Well until series 5 starts and we have a BBWW coming after them.

I just think if Alex sticks around the whole 'you drank my blood' tension could get frustrating.

  • Comment number 49.

    @black dwarf and inch
i like annie too and will be sad if she left.

im a bit bothered at how they are going to 'murder' eve. they cant be putting a pillow over a little babys face or anything like that!!! so what if she doesnt have to die? what if annie tells hal what she seen and he helps stop the oo instead of becoming their poster boy? he went a bit bad but i think thats it, i think he will be good again.

  • Comment number 50.

I somehow don't think Cutler will survive the final episode. But since his plan didn't exactly work out he won't be a favourite with the Old Ones so maybe that will change his mind about wanting to impress them. Also think he still has it in for Hal so I see another big confrontation between those two coming up.

  • Comment number 51.

Anyone else think that Annies unfinished business might be to kill Eve, Then she will pass over and its by by Annie?

  • Comment number 52.

can a vampire and ghost have a relationship? a few of you said its perfect bacause the vamp cant kill and they live forever (or long time) but remember when mitchell and annie tried it, he couldnt really feel anything could he? so could they have a 'physical relationship' (didnt want to put any rudie words on!)

  • Comment number 53.

    Afternoon all!
Thanks again Rebecca for the Q&A and to everyone who braved it, must admit I chickened out, last week was mad enough for me. I've only just finished reading it all over, looks like it was completely chaotic - has everyone recovered?

@LizzyT (47) Totally agree about Hal's 'Hah!', still deciding if that or shifting the stool was the funniest part of the episode.

Also I should say EPISODE 7 WAS AMAZING!!!!

  • Comment number 54.

@Random-R: I agree. And also a bit too close to the whole Nina - George you made me a werewolf thing. Than again I don't really see any other reason for her to suddenly be a ghost so I guess she is set up to replace our beloved Annie. But if Annie leaves I don't want it to be because she had to kill Eve (which still doesn't make sense btw. - future Eve did die so that imho is that for the prophecy). So maybe we will see Annie going poltergeist on the Old Ones and the baby will be given a home in a new loving family (how about Annie's mother - okay just wishfull thinking again, I guess) and that will give Annie reason to finally pass on. (Okay, I'm rambling now.)

  • Comment number 55.

Alex will never let Hal forget about drinking her blood, women never forget these little things, they store them away for use later.
Be interesting to see Sinead Keenan in Lip Service.

  • Comment number 56.

cutlers ww plan in they club looked like it didnt go as he expected, so what if he has a plan b? he now knows that regus didnt kill eve (the war child) so mabe he could try to impress the oo with her? could that be how she dies too? i somehow dont think that TW will kill a baby! i think hal wont furfill his prophercy and be a poster boy and defeat the oo.

got to go, bye bye xx

  • Comment number 57.

@52: Plus them (Mitchell/Annie) getting together kind of ruined it for me. I just thought that what had been a beautiful friendship was made very awkward in the end. (Then again I guess that is also very human and close to real life - also a reason why I love this show so much). I just don't want a whole series 5 revolving around the question of will they/won't they for Alex and Hal. She needs to be her own character and while she seems to be independent enough I'm curious about where they will go with this. Any idea what Alex unfinished business could be? We have seen plenty of people die in violent ways without becoming ghosts. Could it be revenge?

  • Comment number 58.

So, after last night's episode - do you think that the *radio* voice from the future was Hal, then? I was sure it was Mr Snow but after last night and hearing him, I'm not so sure any more.

I am not thinking about Annie leaving. It makes me feel too sad. I think she's a great character and always have thought so. I don't want it to be the end of her story but if it is - she'd better go out with an explosion that would make the explosion at the funeral parlour look like a damp squib. I'm sure LT will make sure of that. Anyway, that is my worst case scenario.

As I said last night, I didn't like Alex as a human but as a ghost....well, she grew on me!

I don't think Hal will be Lord Harry for long and I think Cutler is in for a serious talking to!

Only one hour left - it just goes too fast, don't you think?
Wonder what state we'll all be in this time next week? :-O

  • Comment number 59.

Can you kill a baby on TV even if it is after watershed? Hmmm... I'd like to put 3 cupcakes on baby Eve not actually dying but still going through a door to the AL... probably with Annie in tow *sob*

Also I owe someone 5 cupcakes since Alex got more than nibbled in that episode... who was it? LizzyT?

  • Comment number 60.

    57. Alex's unfinished business will be to get her brother Ryan's tattoo fixed so that Arsenal doesn't have a 'K' in it. Why would a Scot have an 'Arsenal' tattoo? Wouldn't he want Celtic or Rangers?

I really hope Cutler survives to season 5.

    We Really Need Season 5!!!!

    N x

  • Comment number 61.

Agreed, though i do have a feeling that baby Eve will die, i just think TW will have the guts to do it just not in a nasty way.

do we have theories on how Hal survives his meeting with WW Tom

  • Comment number 62.

45 Thank you Inch! I also forbid Cutler to die.
Should we start on a barricade? Or a banner? Or possibly another large net?

  • Comment number 63.

@RentAGhost (59) - yes! I'll need them to payoff whoever said Alex would end up a ghost!

@billybunter (55) - yes, what tiresome creatures murdered women are eh?

Right, got to go to work - it's a bit of a lateshift for me on a Monday. Bye all for now!

  • Comment number 64.

Of course Alex could be all ghostified so that she can take baby Eve through her door. After all it's not as if Eve can walk through :-) Maybe George will come back for her?

  • Comment number 65.

@sasha I still can't tell with the 2037 radio voice! Unless they turn round and tell us who it was I don't think I'll ever work it out!!! I was trying to listen again, but it was too hard to tell.

Note to BH-people: Please tell us!

    73.................52.......21...................4....And....

  • Comment number 66.

@Random-R: The romantic in me believes that he recognized something in Hal and stopped the attack not wanting to hurt his friend. Another guess would be that Annie somehow manages to get their in time to stop Tom with her powers. I guess the real answer will be a lot different though.

  • Comment number 67.

61 - Yup and Baby Eve dying could, in fact, be the *truly shocking* death we were promised - I know we've had a few deaths but none has shocked so far - well haven't shocked me anyway.

  • Comment number 68.

Also, people are saying Hal is now bad/Lord Harry, but I think he's still just Hal. He seemed very resistant to going back to being Big Bad Hal. Although I'm glad Alex walked off when she did, because it wasn't looking good for her. But if he survives WereTom, and gets back home to Annie, I think they'll help wean him back off the bottled blood, and through the shakes. Although more scenes like DM having the shakes last night will be sadly missed :(

    N x

  • Comment number 69.

@LizzyT *gets down on one knee and solemnly hands over cupcakes like an offering*

@Nikki (60) Haha, that would be the best unfinished business ever - and it would mean she'd probably need to stick around for a while! Still I am curious as to what it will actually be!

  • Comment number 70.

Tom.Did.Not.Kill.Hal. OK now that that's that sorted - next? :-D

  • Comment number 71.

    @63 LizzyT

I`m sure there are very disgruntled male ghosts who were murdered by female vampires.I`m not bitter, she knows what she did !!

  • Comment number 72.

@67: I hope that won't happen. As I said in an earlier blog that would break Annie's heart and I just don't want her character to leave in such a sad way. There have been to many sad departures on this show already. If Annie has to leave I want her unfinished business to be something good.

  • Comment number 73.

Here is a question - Will Alex save Hal?

  • Comment number 74.

    *************possible spoiler**************

I noticed in the next week section at the end there is a tiny clip of Hal with blood all other his mouth and face screaming or saying something in pain???, so my theory is Tom attacks him and they fight but do not kill each other....or that clip is something completely different....or its not even Hal.???

  • Comment number 75.

@black dwarf, did you call yourself that because you like red dwarf? anyway, i agree with you about tom recognising hal and not attacking him. that happened with nina didnt it when george turned. although he scratched nina by accident when he was changing if i remember correctly.

i dont mind ghost alex but i dont want to see her with hal bacause it would just spoil it for me like the annie/mitch thing. they dont need to stick a romance in to make it a good show. sometimes just a friendship is good.

  • Comment number 76.

@Ramdon-R: (warning: ********** answer to possible spoiler***********

Was that really Hal? I wasn't sure. I thought they left him out of the preview completely to keep us guessing as to how and if he survives the werewolf attack.

  • Comment number 77.

    73 - Hmmmm

  • Comment number 78.

@black_dwarf I wasn't sure either, i did do some freeze framing and kinda think it is.

  • Comment number 79.

@Leanneloveschoc: Interestingly enough, I get that question a lot. It is just a name I've been using for a long time on message boards and such. Sadly, I've never seen Red Dwarf as they have never (to my knowledge) shown that show over here. Can you recommend it. I usually like Sci-Fi. Oh here it goes 26...19...16

  • Comment number 80.

gingernut 20 . Thanks for the heads up.. only connect my second favourite programme.

Random-R Hello. I thought it was one of the OO Ive looked at it a couple of times. I think Lord Hal proved himself able to resist his base instincts last night. However under duress from Mr Snow who knows what will happen

  • Comment number 81.

@Leanneloveschoc: Yes, I was also thinking along the lines of werewolf George being calmed by Nina. Would be great if that was mirrored by Tom's reaction to Hal. Just hope Hal doesn't get seriously hurt as that would suggest he needs blood to recover. I don't want him to drink again this season. One cup was more than enough.

  • Comment number 82.

78 @Random-R I think it looks like Cutler, but it's too quick to see properly.

  • Comment number 83.

Hiya howlingblue and gingernut! I did think Cutler at first too, another mystery to discover, and thats true it could be OO influenced Hal gulping glasses of blood again.

  • Comment number 84.

83 He drank that blood so fast last night it didnt even touch the sides. He really didnt want to do it. Hal had to find out what was going on.

  • Comment number 85.

I did giggle at Hal blood drunkness.
Where he calls for Annie haha.

Almost as funny as "Its the coast"

  • Comment number 86.

    73. I see your question and raise it thus:

    Will Cutler save Hal?

    N x

  • Comment number 87.

I think that clip looks like someone transforming? I know it would either have to be a flashback or we'd need to be jumping forward for last episode and I don't think it's that.

I think that Tom is actually jumping over Hal in that scene on the stairs and is in pursuit of Cutler - but Cutler has managed to escape.

  • Comment number 88.

@Black Dwarf. I'm not sure who it is either, but would guess it's supposed to be Hal, as they'd shown clips of Tom and Annie beforehand, looking all worried and agitated.

Regarding the skeletons, note in the preview to next week that they are now on the wall, behind where I presume Mr Snow is sitting.

On that note, who is the guy they make of point of showing a close-up of - what's his significance.

  • Comment number 89.

Good Afternoon Bloggers, Mods and Rebecca.

I hope we're all good today, have we all recovered?

@Leanneloveschoc, regarding your earlier post (fuming) I took those two to task about it, think i scared them off, Oh and the emma in question isn't our emma who has since changed her name to emma_e, just so you know.

@60 Nikki, I had exactly the same thought, why Arsenal? Would some funny unfinished business though#1

Regarding Annie/Alex, I know it looks like we'll lose Annie this series but I wouldn't put it past LT to have us thinking that only to do a U-Turn and send Alex through the door carrying baby Eve.

  • Comment number 90.

    81. There's a whole jug full of blood down in the basement ;)

    Grrrr 81 seconds ... 60 ... Thumbs twiddling ... 33 ...

OK I loved this quote "and you're stupid, but in the morning, I shall be sober ... And something, something, something" ROFL

    Times up ... Go

  • Comment number 91.

@Nikki, haha yeah... actually thinking about it, for a really serious episode there were heaps of funny oneliners - but I guess that's the genius of BH!

  • Comment number 92.

So far there seems to be a general consensus that Eve won't survive the final episode. I still think that considering prophecies on this show are never quite what they seem baby Eve will survive the episode unscathed. Anyone up for a bet?

89 - Yup thought that earlier it might be Alex taking Eve through the door. I really don't want Annie to go.

How's you today then? Thanks for clearing the blog ealier - right mess it was.

    86. nikki. Thats a doozy. Cutler hates Hal for Turning him without asking, killing his wife and abandoning him to the rest of the vampires.

He loves him for being his maker. He wants to show how far he has developed his skills.

All in all I think Cutler is just the sort of person to help Hal just so that he can gloat. Plus the fact I think Cutler is going to be terrified on the massed OOs.

    @Black Dwarf

This series has seen the characters do some bad stuff, but would the writers really make them kill a baby? There has to be another way.

    @Fiona: I agree with you.

@howlingblue: Hmm Hal messed up his plan and by begging has made him loose respect. My money (or rather cupcakes) would be on Cutler trying to kill Hal (and possibly the other Old Ones as well) in the last episode.

@93 Can't think about Annie leaving, I know now that she could after losing AT, RT and SK but that doesn't mean she has to go!

I'm fine sasha, the blog was a bombsite! How's you're good self?

How about Alex's unfinished business is to sort Cutler out. She does this, preferably when Annie and baby Eve are about. At that point Alex's door appears and Annie thrusts baby Eve into Alex's arms, telling her to take her to George and Nina. That way Eve is gone without having to die.

I don't know if he would try and save him... he obviuosly still hates what happened to his wife and wanted to punish him for it, and Hal obviously didn't react the way he thought he would and he seemed really 'annoyed' at him not wanting to annihilate humanity/begging so maybe he doesn't consider them square yet?
