BECOMING HUMAN
Hit BBC Three drama Being Human inspires brand new online extension from show creators.

An exclusive online extension of hit BBC Three drama Being Human has been commissioned by BBC Drama Multiplatform in association with BBC Three.

Created by Toby Whithouse (Being Human) and written by Brian Dooley (Being Human, The Smoking Room), Jamie Mathieson (Being Human) and John Jackson (Being Human), Becoming Human is set in a fictional college and will follow a new group of characters over nine episodes.

Following events that unfold in the forthcoming third series of Being Human, vampire Adam (Craig Roberts; Young Dracula) is at college trying to get himself back on the straight and narrow. It's here he meets the beautiful, cool Christa (Leila Mimmack; Married, Single, Other) - who just happens to be a werewolf. They strike up a friendship with Matt (Josh Brown; Grange Hill), and the three of them become embroiled in a mystery that leads to more than they bargained for...

Becoming Human will be produced by Touchpaper Wales, part of the Zodiak Media Group. They will work with the team behind the hugely successful Being Human website and blog - blog curator Barry Pilling and cross-platform director Garret Keogh - to create an innovative and interactive experience around the episodes.

Online audiences will be encouraged to interact with the story as it unfolds, with daily clues and materials posted on a new website linked to the Being Human blog.

Toby Whithouse, Becoming Human creator, says: "Yes, because *you* demanded it, the world of Being Human is expanding! We've got a cracking story lined up, with some terrific new characters and all the thrills and chills you can manage. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we've enjoyed making it."

Sarah Clay, BBC Multiplatform Drama Commissioner, says: "The fans of Being Human are incredibly active online, so we wanted to give them something they could really get their teeth into. The Becoming Human online extension doesn't just consist of nine episodes, the narrative extends beyond that with daily clues in the form of press cuttings, anonymous tips, CCTV footage, mobile phone clips...giving the online audience the chance to follow the mystery on the blog as it unfolds."

Rob Pursey is Executive Producer for Touchpaper Television, Eleanor Moran is Executive Producer for the BBC and Phil Trethowan (Being Human) is producing. The series will be shot on location in Wales.

The series was commissioned by Sarah Clay, BBC Multiplatform Drama Commissioner.

Becoming Human will launch online at www.bbc.co.uk/beinghuman, midway through transmission of series three of Being Human, which begins on BBC Three in January 2011.

www.bbc.co.uk/beinghuman is the highest performing BBC Three website, offering fans a regularly updated behind-the-scenes glimpse into the show.

A second follow on series Yes. Oh wait did anyone guess that?

  • Comment number 2.

    *smiles*
This kinda went with what a few of asked for last series but made it a lot more interesting. Thank you!! Can't wait.

  • Comment number 3.

OK!! This looks like it could be a LOT OF FUN!! Thanks

  • Comment number 4.

Congrats to everyone involved hope it goes well xx

  • Comment number 5.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How exciting!!! Will this be shown at the same time as the new series then? I have to say, I love how it says: "...who just happens to be werewolf" - that would be just my luck lol!

Oh wow! That's just made my day! Thanks BH Production, cast, crew, writers and, of course, Mr P!!!!! :D :D :D

  • Comment number 6.

And will it be on the DVD

as it is showing half way through being human, becoming human will therefore only have 4 or if we're lucky 5 episodes.

Now are the stars have they been filmed as extras in being human so we look out for them - will there be reference to Bristol or our pre existing 4.

Is the werewolf going to be a third breed or like George and Nina or Mcnair

Or more important as both could be shortened to BH how will we define the two shows.

BH1 and BH2 whitch also works if we ever discuss the syfy series so how about
being and becoming opinions on this welcome.

Oh yes More of a show more of a show Yes yes yes.

  • Comment number 7.

Now here's another thing to think about what is Matt or what is he going to become? of course finding out that his friends are a werewolf and vampire could put him off. so many new takes on this to ponder.

Will we get photo's soon do you think.

Before I seem too rude Hi everyone

  • Comment number 8.

ewan - It says at the top there will be 9 episodes! Yay! :)

I hope they are extras in BH, that would be great! I loved seeing Lloyd suddenly pop up on BH - I knew who he was, yet everone else who was watching it with me [and are not bloggers] had absolutely no idea what I was talking about! It was like being part of a secret! :)

  • Comment number 9.

8 - speed reading hits me again
that would mean 2 episodes a week and one at the end good.

  • Comment number 10.

Congratulations guys - multiplatform eh? get you! does this Resonate with anyone?

Says Toby has created it - does that mean he has written the whole story arc with other writers doing the scripts.

Tho it says interactive - not sure if it means any of the narrative will change in response to on-line comments? And if theyve started filming seems as if it's all written? But we'll get ongoing clues to get involved with.

Can't wait to get involved with the new characters - wonder when we'll meet them? Tho the Four remain tops!

  • Comment number 11.

celticgrace - I'm guessing that by multiplatform and interactive, it will be much like the Torchwood game they had running during series 2. There was a case to solve and each week there was a video message from Ianto stating the next bit of the investigation, some hints and clues and then introducing the actual game bit. It was set up as though he had filmed his clip following the events of each episode.
At the end, if you completed it, you got emailed a certificate saying that you had now become a member of Torchwood...... which I maaay have printed off and stuck on my bedroom wall *shifty eyes* ;)

This BH sounds more intertwined with the show - so I'm guessing there will be clues on screen. Kind of like how Lloyd's CenSSa stuff fed into the show.

Gah! I'm so excited already!!! :D

  • Comment number 12.

Wow...amazing news and totally unexpected..well, for me at least.

So transmedia arrives for Being Human....not sure at this stage if the characters from Becoming Human will be involved to any great extent in Being Human series 3....so I'm thinking spin-off rather than crossover at the mo.

It's reminding me of the recently created E20,an online spin-off of Eastenders with a young cast.

And just look at the writers involved ..not only Lord Toby but two of my fave BH writers....fantastic!

Looking forward to seeing it but agree with celticgrace that my main love will stay with Being Human and our fab 4....I'm hoping that Becoming Human will be as well as a series 4 of Being Human and not instead of?

oh and congrats to Barry Pilling and his team for the amazing praise and comments for the BH blog from such bigwigs in the BBC

  • Comment number 13.

Did some IMDB and net search to see who they are funny thing about Craig Roberts part in young Dracula was as a vampire Wanna-be that is Kinda funny if your me.

    So the game
When and Where did Christa get scratched and how?
    How old is Adam really?
    or will they be
What did the x say to y
what was x planning to do to to y

    things like that?

  • Comment number 14.

This sounds very cool and I'll deffo be getting involved. Buuuuut... hope this doesnt mean less of the amazing Being Human blog we have become so accustomed to, and I hope it doesn't mean less of the original and best cast ever. Feel quite bad saying that - this will be awesome though!!

  • Comment number 15.

This looks like lots of fun, taking the LLoyd video diaries from last year one step further :) I am assuming that they are talking about 9 wepisodes probably 10 mins each??? a pity they can't start ahead of series 3 as a warm-up, or is that just being impatient.

  • Comment number 16.

Here's another random thought is this the Sarah Jane equivalent I don't think it will but the possibility is out there in the hypothetical universe I have a great deal of hope that such an occurrence will not be after all becoming is running alongside being (still not sure about the definitions) still with a new series there is more of a chance of Mr P going to Wales and as a result More Blogs.

After all there will be at least 3 for the cast 3 writers the directors behind the scenes if mixed with regular blogs the drought is over. maybe soon once a week - well we can all dream.

  • Comment number 17.

15 - thinking about that one word possibility - prequels.

  • Comment number 18.

Amazing stuff coming up...thank you team! Looking extremely interesting and still got Toby, Garret, Barry et al as well...can't say fairer than that :)

Thank you so much gang, you've come up trumps..again ^_^

  • Comment number 19.

(Ooops! Helps to hit Post instead of just Preview...)

Hooray! I was hoping it would be something like this. The BH universe expands exponentially! Lloyd's CenSSA vlogs were a fun toe-dipping in the new media pond, and it's exciting to see you jumping in with both feet!

Congrats to everyone involved! Can't wait to see, and play!

  • Comment number 20.

    Uh! '-' interactive! interACTIVE!

exactly what I missed about Pinky and the Blog last year.. *-* awiiiwiiii
I'm so glad.. I just hope interactive bits will go a lot on YouTube (like last year) for those of us who are not in the UK and could miss the fun then.
*I'm actually begging you please BH PRoD*
    *begging dances*

And congratulations to Mr. P and all the Blog stuff for the excellent work!

  • Comment number 21.

Wow! This sounds like it'll be fantastic. Congratulations to everyone involved.

  • Comment number 22.

    Hi B.H. gang!

I have thoughts here you may not agree with but hey, I'm old enough now to voice them...without shrinking from rejection and peer pressure...and besides that I'm married and am use to constant critical assessment...

    First thoughts on B.H. news...

    Yay, B.H. is back!

    When euphoria stopped, second thoughts...

No BBC3 commitment to have additional bits with Russ, Sinead, Aidan, Annie, Jason and others from main cast of BH.

Demographic chasing again...money spent on appealing to young kids with computers for interactive online stuff...

I would rather have my T.V. license money spent on extra B.H. episodes...or specials...etc

    Third thoughts...

Hmmmm, I'm only visiting the U.K. I don't actually have to pay T.V. license! lol

    Tom in Oz

(Not in Oz right now actually in Bomborough Birkenhead UK)

  • Comment number 23.

Tom in Oz - you hero!

  • Comment number 24.

I have decided how I'm going to differentiate with the 2 shortened terms
    BH = being human
    bh = becoming human

I think they has the best chance of catching on thoughts?

  • Comment number 25.

Tom - Some of us who are not so young are into the interactive online stuff. :-) And we got plenty of behind-the-scenes, etc. with the regular gang last year in addition to the CenSSA materials; no reason to think that won't happen as well.

As for what license fees are being spent on, this represents a vote of confidence in the franchise as a whole. The series happened in the first place in large measure because of the online response to the pilot. So I feel pretty secure in expecting this to be only the beginning of the good news!

(Yes, I'm nicknamed "Postmodern Pollyanna" for a reason. Go with it. *eg*)

  • Comment number 26.

I thought I covered the fears in 22 in 16 then gave reasons why it wouldn't be so didn't I? - yep I did.

also pointed out why it was a very good thing

    - mumbles about being invisible

  • Comment number 27.

As much as I love Being Human....does anyone else not see the point of it? Will it not just be Being Human rehashed and with younger people? Same problems, same scenarios. Not knocking it but just not sure where it can go?? t'll obviously be top notch storylines and writing but it's been done before, no?

  • Comment number 28.

Ewan stop beating yourself that's what your other half is supposed to do! And If you are not attached I can lend you my wife...will take pressure of me for a few mins...lol

I personally think your theories and thoughts are highly original.

    Tom (Not in Oz)

  • Comment number 29.

Hi! Hope all is good! Ah the suspense is finally over and hm, sounds interesting, looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Come January, there is gonna be a heck of a lot of stuff going on here hehe, and that's good in my books!

  • Comment number 30.

Don't worry about me Tom (wherever you end up) As a wise man said
"if you can't admit when your wrong, then it's worse for you when you get told"

  • Comment number 31.

Oh I just saw on FB that BBC3 are showing S1 and S2 starting after midnight Halloween! Brill!

  • Comment number 32.

Had a thought is bh going to get it's own twitter page like BH (see what I did there) also on twitter there will be at least three new charaters appearing.

  • Comment number 33.

32 - Would hope so, cause it get a bit confusing I think.

  • Comment number 34.

Tom and WiliQueen....kinda agreeing with both of you (see post 12)...but leaning more towards it being an exciting innovation to expand the 'Being Human brand'.
I too had hoped that the 'extras' would involve our fab 4 cast ...but of course there will be extras involving them on the DVD from series 3.

I'd only start to worry if the new crossover/spin-off altered the budget and future plans for Being Human....until then...bring it on!

  • Comment number 35.

Tom, ewan, & Dorina - I should have made clearer that I wouldn't want it taking away from the main show either. Really don't see it happening, though -- it would be very foolish to change instead of adding! And since they are doing so well, my interpretation is that they are indeed adding.

As a struggling actor, I'm also a big cheerleader for high-profile new media in conjunction with strong regular TV. The more work, the better!

  • Comment number 36.

The Budget that is a worry small things that help me allay those theories and hopefully help those who are worried as always remember to disagree if you feel I made a mistake.

1 - This season of BH we get a second werewolf it has after all been revealed that the werewolf of George and Nina is different to that of McNair that means that BH is getting a good sized budget.

2 - bh was commissioned separately to BH meaning that bh has a separate budget not directly linked to BH.

3 - The commisioning of the SyFy series has put BH on a earns respect list of BBC programs so money should keep coming.

No bh does not threaten BH budget what does is the government in a truly mental act of idiocy has frozen the TV license this means that all budgets will relative to inflation lose out on funding.
There is the threat to BH funding not bh.

  • Comment number 37.

35 - I wasn't seeing bh as a threat either I was just pointing out that so long as it didn't become a Sarah Jane then all would be good and seeing the writers beheind bh I wasn't worried about that.

  • Comment number 38.

    22. Tom in Oz. I couldn't agree more. Spot on.

  • Comment number 39.

Hmmmmm, sounds interesting!! May be for the younger audicence with it being set in an college environment but with the BH team behind it & im sure it will be amazing =D Roll on Season three!! Cant wait to see all the hard work by the cast & crew pay off!!!

  • Comment number 40.

    Hi all

Tom (22) I share your concerns and I will probably be missing out with the interactive bits (now I'm showing my age); but an addition to the BH universe can only help expand its fan base :D

This looks to be very exciting and congratulations to all involved :)

Ewan like your BH and bh shorthand and plan to ues it.

  • Comment number 41.

well, well, well... you kept that one quiet!

  • Comment number 42.

I have to say I completely agree with Tom In Oz (who apparently isn't in Oz at the moment!!)'s comment (22) well said.

  • Comment number 43.

Will the BH fans outside the UK be able to see this as it's released? I know networks restrict video access outside their countries and it's frustrating!!!

Gearing up for a weekend along with both seasons of Being Human to keep me company!

  • Comment number 44.

Daily clues? *sigh* As much as I'm looking forward to this, I'm worried about the amount of time I will lose following it everyday. Nah, it's worth it :P

  • Comment number 45.

Whoa! This sounds great...am still trying to get my head round it a bit.

  • Comment number 46.

Well, didn't see this coming and it sounds truly exciting. Not just a new programme but a new media too, and a nod to the online fans. Nice to be part of the next generation of tv / online entertainment especially since we're generally a post-watershed audience and therefore older (sorry, make that more mature, sophisticated and discerning *lol*) than, say, the Sarah Jane fans. Expanding the the BH/bh (loving your shorthand too, ewan) audience base can only be a good thing, especially if we need large viewing figures to encourage continued investment. I'm looking forward to it being more interactive, and I'm always a sucker for mysteries so I'm definitely on board for this.
It also makes me more hopeful for a S4, all things being equal.

  • Comment number 47.

Wow! Deffinatly didn't see that coming! It sounds great! I very much hope that these videos will be watchable in the US because so many bbc videos online are not. It would really suck if I couldn't watch it. This seems like a really cool idea that I don't think anyone would have guessed that this was what was really going on with the secret filming. I can't wait to hear more about it!

  • Comment number 48.

BH and bh - I can see this confusing my little brain... ;)

Ishbel_haf [46] - I'm a massive Sarah Jane Adventures fan and I'm 18 ... then again, I always like to be different! ;) Despire initial appearances, it's actually aimed more at an older audience... :)

  • Comment number 49.

Trivia about the cast of bh
Adam - vampire played by Craig Roberts
Craig stared in as you read above Young Dracula as a kid who wanted to be a Vampire
Christa - Werewolf played by Leila Mimmack
Leila stared in Married Single Other with Dean Lennox Kelly (Tully) as his step daughter
Matt - Human? played by Josh Brown
Josh played a school kid in Grange hill no connections to supernatural series other than that I could find.

So coincidence is very strong in the world of casting isn't it I find it funny Ha Ha at least.

  • Comment number 50.

I really like the multi-media tie in approach, I think for a lot of programmes the different between dedicated fans and occasional watchers has been the interaction opportunities; whether it is regular blogs/updates or face book/twitter exchanges - so roll on Becoming Human!! (Ewan perhaps BCH and BH? for those of us that can miss the caps key anyway when typing fast...)

But I do share the same reservation as a lot of the posts above: they seemed to have repeated the same formula with just a younger cast - why? The danger of a rehash of the same round of issues but this time with added 'high school/college angst' is not very appealing at all, please leave that to the American High school shows we have plenty of those already. If it is going to be mysteries/puzzles/whodunits why do we need it to 'go younger' and be based in college and why the same 'friends who happen to be a vampire, werewolf, other' trio. I am really hoping they are going to think of some interesting, challenging twists and as Ewan says don't go all 'Sarah Jane Adventures' on us.

  • Comment number 51.

Initial reaction was bouncing up and down with excitement. After a few minutes to think about it I do share moonwalker's concerns about BE going a bit Sarah Jane Adventures on us. Don't get me wrong SJA is lovely in it's own way, but ... you know.

One request, please make at least SOME of the puzzles a challenge. The ones on the Sherlock tie-in site where far, far too easy.

  • Comment number 52.

Some more news just in - they've just announced on theonering.net that The Hobbit is to be filmed in New Zealand after all. Hope this is true as it's in-keeping with the look and feel of LotR. Still no confirmation of the start date, but apparently they're looking at a 14 month production schedule, though I don't know it this is all principal photography or whether it includes post-production as well as filming. Mark Gatiss has also confirmed that Martin Freeman will be able to film Sherlock as well as The Hobbit.

Anyhoo, back to BCH / bh. Still excited about this and hope it's everything it could be (and, of course, selfishly hoping for more BH). Piratemoose - the Sarah Jane comment wasn't a dig, I watch it too! They film some of it where I work (shameless name dropping here *blushes*) and they're lovely - not that they let us staff near them if they can help it! But I did hear from a friend who was with them once that when Elizabeth Sladen was called to set, she muttered to her colleague 'Oh no, I'd just got to the jam in my doughnut', which made me smile.

I'm sure the writers of BCH (I'm finding that easier than bh) are aware of the whole Buffy/Vampire High genre and have come up with something fresh and different. BH was so original that I can't imagine that BCH will be the same old, same old. When they start posting more on the Blog we'll have a chance to get some of the flavour of it - and a good old chinwag at the same time!

  • Comment number 53.

This is gonna be so cool! I can't wait, if the BH team is behind it you just know BCH is gonna be Brilliant!
Also as I was reading the posts, also thought that BCH would be a better way of defining it (ppl dont always write BH in capitals and anyone who doesn't read the specific post where it's suggested would probably get confused).
Anyway it's gonna be SO great, now im even more excited, can't wait until 2011!

  • Comment number 54.

50.Moonwalker 58.Have to agree about them repeating the exact formula with a younger cast, why? I don't understand the purpose behind it.

  • Comment number 55.

    WOW! =)
I am so looking forwards to this! XD

  • Comment number 56.

then the options for the code are
BCH as less likely to forget the caps lock thing then again there is the chance of forgetting the C by mistake.
the logic behind the BH and bh is BH for the big show bh for the small one if in the end BCH wins I will accept that as not all people get my logic.

Apart from that Matt is the character I am most concerned with if he doesn't turn out to be supernatural then for me the logic is strained. Unless Adam and Christa have to conspire to keep the truth from him then it becomes a different story to BH. if that happens then it would work - not the idea I just used of course as that is wholly predictable and Lord Toby is above such things no it would have to be something that links them to him a shared experience or state of disconnection with the world.

So in short no idea of course this will give us an added talking point on the blog as BH continues with it's plot we might get closer to the bh/BCH plot.

  • Comment number 57.

    Hi everyone! *waves*

Ooh, wonderful news (meant to post here earlier but got a bit busy last night) - really looking forward to a spinoff show. A vampire in college-is he hunting we wonder? LOL

I have to say in anyone else's hands, this premise would seem distinctly ordinary but I've no doubts whatsoever that with Toby, Colin, your good self Barry, Marcus and the rest of the team, this is going to be something devastatingly good! Heehee, and its interactive too which is even better (perhaps Resonance-esque?)!

This might be a bit to soon to ask (and apologies if anyone has already asked this before me, I've only skim read previous messages) but when might this be due to air?

    *waits eagerly* KC

  • Comment number 58.

I agree - I think Becoming Human should be BCH, hopefully it will be less confusing that way! ;)

Ishbel_haf [52] - Don't worry, I know it wasn't a dig at SJA - I just feel that it's a very underrated show and that some people dimiss it because it's shown on kid' tv! It's filmed where you work?! WHERE do you work?! I'm applying for work experience! ;) Isn't Elisabeth Sladen lovely? We were lucky enough to meet her at LFCC, and she was really kind :D

  • Comment number 59.

yay something new to play with
this looks like it will be fun! and i hope that it will be just as big a success as being human is.
but if we know our lovely team at being human it will be. im excited

  • Comment number 60.

Wanted to share this - not that it's much but it made me happy. I had to go to Barry today for one of those mind and bottom numbing meetings, the only relief on the horizon being the lukewarm, stewed tea and soft malted milk biscuits. Or so I thought.... I've never been to Barry before and when it turned out I'd missed my train home, a colleague offered me and another girl a lift. Just as we rounded a steep corner I gave an excited yelp "That's Honolulu Heights!" followed, in response to the looks I was getting, by "It's a, uh, .... B&B", which met with some very puzzled looks.

Keen not to appear like a total idiot I remained quiet thereafter and did my best to appear delighted to make an unscheduled stop at a supermarket - and I hate supermarket shopping. Good job we did, though - they were filming BCH just opposite. Not very much to see, just a few red lorries and some bright lights, but it did cheer me up no end after a very boring morning.

  • Comment number 61.

Ishbel you lucky thing! Thats amazing, and there are no such thing as coincidences - that was surely meant to be!

Wonder when/if to expect a new BEING Human blog anytime soon?

  • Comment number 62.

    two things
1 I concede becoming human will become BcH as it clearly is the easier to understand variant.

    2. Has anyone thought what a BH comic book would be like I'm sure great amounts of fun could be had reading it and the scenes and back story that are out there but a bit too high budget in plot lines - multiple werewolves - epic fights but still to be known about and seen would help us to have a wider picture of the past and the enmity that exists between werewolves and vampires.
maybe during the hiatus while we wait for series 4.

  • Comment number 63.

Dear “Being Human” gang more stuff to ponder...

Go back to post 22 to see the start of my concerns.

Now, if you appreciate a great show, with great actors and great stories like "Being Human" then having a gimmick variation of that show may diminish the original you love...

When I was a kid there were numerous cartoon and live variations made of regular shows like The Partridge Family (cartoon), The Brady Bunch Variety Show (live), Lost In Space (cartoon) and Star Trek (cartoon) - yech - hearing Leonard Nimoy as a cartoon was just stooopid. Most of these shows really went nowhere.

The other gimmick things they did/do to shows usually mean the script writers/director etc. have run out of fresh things to do with the show and start grabbing at wacky ideas...hence the "jump the shark" episode of Happy Days.

What I'd like is for someone to just wave these simple examples under the noses of the BBC team and rationalise for a moment and ask is this going to keep the fans of "Being Human" truly satisfied and will it give the show longevity....?

Money given to side projects that may, or may not work, is risky in the current climate....sure it employs new younger (cheaper actors) but we end up with a pale imitation of the show we originally followed.

Toby Whithouse gave us 4 characters who on paper were well-scripted but the chemistry of the cast is what ultimately breathed life into the words on the page...making any variation is treading water...

I watched Being Human because the concept was truly original and unlike anything I had viewed in 40 years of TV watching...I don't want to tune into some pale imitation or gimmick.

I wish the “Becoming Human” team the best with what they are doing but I would rather have a solid "Being Human" show foremost, rather than something which runs on a similar premise.

Tom in Oz (now Northop Hall Wales)

  • Comment number 64.

Greetings bloggers! Hope everyone is well and in high spirits!

Tom_in_Oz but who isn't really: Well, they do tend to listen to us mad fanfolk so I'm hoping that, as they know we as a group wanted something along the lines of what they're providing, they'll adjust it accordingly so it doesn't attract only young people but the regular, ahem, more mature supporters of the BH brand. To reduce it too much to appeal to younger viewers would alienate a lot of us, so I leave it up to the good sense of BBC3, the directors and more importantly the writing team (Toby, Brian et al) to know what the balance would be. I'm happy to leave myself in their capable hands...I wish!

Tom Tom Tom in the politest possible way don't be so negative. If you want to compare stories from the general youth think on this When I was a student and Mars Attacks came out (I know WHAT? but bare with me) One of my teachers was a huge Tim Burton fan loved every film he made but hatted MA Why because he went to see a serious film a clever and surreal feast to the senses. Not to see Mars attacks a fun humorous take on whole Aliens invade genre popular at the time, so you can see the connection.
What you are doing and I hope this doesn't sound too much like I'm trying to teach you something is approaching BcH as a small child looks at a replacement toy - again hope I'm not crossing a line. The trick is to inform your opinion after the first show after all when BH was first pitched it was seen as either a bad joke or a kids show but low and behold one of the finest shows around on TV at the moment with international recognition and fan base.
Approach BcH with an open heart and you might enjoy it more than if you keep saying I wont like this I'm sure I wont like this if you take that approach you might miss out on something great.

As to your cartoon thoughts those shows you mentioned were cartoons that were laid out in the same style as each other - if you were referring to my next year Comic strip idea well you clearly haven't seen some of the modern comics and it also was only an ides. or if you were comparing BcH to those cartoons then you have also missed the point I'm sorry to say.

As I said if I crossed a line I'm sorry but if you keep bashing what could be a great addition to the BH universe you will get the rug pulled from your arguments sorry.

I'm an old man who has watched spin offs come and go and side projects come and go....only to see them crash and burn....

Did you understand the intent of my post No.63? I kinda think not. I wished the "Becoming Human" team all the best. BUT, if they diminish the show I love by being better or diverting funds and interest from "Being Human" I won't be happy...read it again! (Crikey, read it in a voice like Steve Irwin's).

BTW, I personally liked Mars Attacks...anything that cut the head off Sarah Jessica Parker can't be all bad! LOL

sorry then Tom it was just post 63 echoes post 22 the wish the best but hold some reservations message, Yes indeed there have been crash and burn spin offs 'The lone Gunmen' a good show that didn't work not because of bad review but because fans of the X files didn't give it a chance - thought it would not fit in and as a result it was canned. where as Angel lasted only so long as Buffy because together they worked but 5 seasons for Angel because fans gave it a chance from the start.

I may have been over aggressive in my statement true but you have to admit you were being negative to the idea.

"I don't want to tune into some pale imitation or gimmick" your words.

Hi lovely Tom not in Oz....I feel your concerns but think that we can all take heart from comments on twitter from the main man (after Lord Toby of course)...I refer of course to the wonderful Mr P. check out his Twitter page..and the conversations he was having yesterday with various bloggers.... I for one now better understand the connection between BH and BCH and what the latter will be/won't be.

I do have a few concerns...but they revolve around Aidan's future in a fourth series of BH now that The Hobbits 1 & 2 have been confirmed as being filned in NZ...but even there scheduling can be sorted ...soooo let's be cheerful!

...and does your invite to Oz include trips to catch filming of the Hiobit?...after all what's a 4hr/6hr flight between friends?

    Dear Dorina,

Offer holds to put you up in Oz but there is a quiz first.

Red or white wines with your meals. Choose your answer wisely form the three (3) choices available.

    Answer possibly "Being Human" related.

Oh forgot to say, it's all contingent on me getting Mrs Oz off to her boyfriend's for a week or two as well.

Just saying it's kind of an easy question

    3 choices
Red White or Rose after all forms of wine

    No mention of a meal.

Multiple species would suggest Rose a mix of the 2 but that would mean someone enjoying Rose a kind of out there moment.

As the two corporal species are linked to blood as a food or altered the choice might be Red. then again they might try to distance themselves from that and chose White.
White however was Owen's choice of wine when he was with Ms Jamie 'tango face' Harris so that wouldn't work.

So the meals eaten in BH Shepherds pie is a meat dish linked to a Red fish gets white.

So as to a choice of wine unless you mean Whine about something What are you not asking in your question?

  • Comment number 73.

Ewan 1 more clue: Answer is in season one.

    OMG it's easy now?

  • Comment number 74.

Then that means not the Red that Ivan was handing out lamenting that it 'wasn't the hard stuff'

episode 1 Becka is having Red wine before her second meeting with Lauren in the ally

episode 2 no wine I can remember just tea and beer

episode 3 The 2006 Portuguese Red Nina brings round or the White Owen and Jamie have in their house.

episode 4 the home measures Fleur refers to is Gin mostly and there's camomile tea

episode 5 This is where it's all about the blood Mitchell siding with his until he finds out how they've been feeding - Josie has a way of drinking tea no milk just a splash of water from the tap also Jam apologies.

episode 6 the most drink based moment is when Annie knocks all the cups to the floor can't remember a wine reference.

there is the drinking habits of series 1 as far as I can remember so unless your talking about someone saying - have blank wine with your meal - which I'd remember are you sure your asking about the right series.

    So
The whole point is that with meat based meals that the answer would most likely be Red.

either that or No wine with meals which would be a lame answer.
Nope no reference to that, unless referring to Mitchell being On the Wagon

I am a massive fan of being human, but I am worried that if the show continues to a fourth or fifth series, with more spin offs and guest stars the spirit of it will become diluted. the BBC often continue shows too far, especially when producers, writers, actors etc enjoy making it and with such a loyal fan base and I would hate this to happen to a show I really love.

  • Comment number 76.

    Ewan...

Answer is in Ep.1 there is a reference in the first 15 mins. Are you sure you have seen this show? LOL

So easy to work out if you come from Oz.

    Red wine at the Wake

Or are you referring to the most common blood type because if you are I easily dismissed because there is both Red and White - Jacobs Creek

unless the options were Red, White, Either

Hi all....no I am not a newbie...and have been around since the beginning of this BH madness...but cos of various reasons have not been able to comment for some time (mainly major house renovations...... don't even know where my clothes are let alone the lap-top) also cannot post comments at work now...although I often pop in and see what you are all up to.

Anyway...had to pop in tonight......BECAUSE.....twas one year ago this very night that I and other obsessive BH nut-jobs ventured to a strange and wonderous land called Nottingham. Here we met two maidens known as Lenora who was most funny and Sinead who was exceedingly tiny (quote: "I know and I've got my heels on") The one known as Russell who signed his name with a little picture of a face with big ears!! And,...oh dear,oh dear an Irishman....nope sorry cannot carry on ....do anyof you oldies out there remember this day? ...like you were ever going to forget it.....

Are we not going to get a Halloween post from BHP? Awwwww

  • Comment number 80.

I'd love a Hallowe'en post but maybe they're busy preparing for some serious trick or treating. :-)
Littly is going dressed as a vampire so I'm practicing my face painting skills on him. Still looks like a clown, though, no matter how hard I try!

  • Comment number 81.

    Hello!
And hello Vampfan! Lovely to hear from you again. I hope your house renovations are almost done. Can't believe it's a whole year since we met Sinead, Russell, Lenora and the beautiful, talented Irish man in Nottingham.

  • Comment number 82.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Hope you'll all be out trick or treating tonight.

No Halloween special this year as the series wrapped several weeks ago. But we will have a new blog vid with Russell Tovey this Friday! Woop woop!

Right, time to go scare some kids. Watch out for Bernie...

  • Comment number 83.

Hello all, and a happy Halloween or Samhain to you all!

Vampfan: *Squee* at last you're on here...welcome back! It's about time we all appeared out of the woodwork, you can tell Season 3 is on the way. Hope all the house renovations went well/are going well...if there's a review in January of this year, depending on where it is, would you consider going? WOuld be fab if we could all have a meet or something beforehand. Hope all is well with you, have to dash as have late lunch burning nicely in the oven...will be in touch with you via Twitter too if possible! Lovely to hear from you again, am already way too excited that S3 is nearly upon us, and that Aidan is in the Hobbit which is being filmed in New Zealand around February 2011, taking the past of Fili the dwarf. So now we can all lust after an Irish dwarf. Luckily this will not be difficult.

See you soon, on this blog or the next one!xx

  • Comment number 84.

Being Human Production: You are darlings...we look forward to that and Russell...then hopefully the next one will be with Aidan because we've had Lenora and Sinead already with the acting tips...xx

    Hi bloggers!

Just come back from my first ever trip to Ireland. Two girls and I on tour, having a ton of fun and yesterday the visit was crowned by an encounter I want to share with you.

We went to an exclusive club (courtesy of some friends who are members there) in Dublin. In the course of the evening we made our way to a smoking area on a different floor. Picture a girl just over the edge of the big 4 agewise, turning into an astmatic teenager loosing her mother tongue, standing there with a gaping mouth and hectically tugging at the sleeve of the person next to her and you get an impression of me when I realized that in a corner of the room, appr. 10 metres away, no other than our favourite vampire was happily chatting away among a group sitting at a table.

He was looking gorgeous as ever, all dressed in black similar to on the show, minus the fingerless gloves ;-), part of his locks tamed away at the back of his head. I couldn't take my eyes off him, and although direct access to him was blocked by about 20 people, it would have been possible to ask one of them to kindly ask Aidan if someone could take a picture with him standing next to me. I'm sure he wouldn't have minded, since we all know what lovely person he is. Well, you'll all have to mourn with me over a once in a lifetime chance that I missed by just being to shy to ask.

My party moved on to another club soon, but not without me secretly taking a picture of Aidan. Otherwise I would have blamed it on too much beer and the hussle going on in the streets of Dublin below, in the night before Halloween, when the undead mingle with the living... ;-)

  • Comment number 88.

buzzbrain...welcome to the blog and YOU LUCKY PERSON! interesting the comment about him being blocked by about 20 people...has Aidan developed an entourage?..surely they can't all be his security!
Any sign of the lovely Lenora there?

vampfan...long time no hear! ...hope you and family well. Yes a year ago today....happy memories!

BHProduction...Thanks and will look forward to Russell's blog vid on Friday then...is it his advice on acting?.....and can we assume that not long thereafter there will be a similar vid from Aidan?

  • Comment number 89.

    87 :) lucky u

  • Comment number 90.

    Evening all...again..

Buzzbrain: It's an experience never forgotten isn't it? Sounds like all his mates were there or part of his entourage..fair play to him, enjoying a night out, good man.

A year ago this evening there some of us were, in a cinema complex in Nottingham, asking questions about Being Human to Colin, Matt Bouch, and the little gang of 4...what an afternoon that was. Lovely company, some great pics and a good time was had by all. Come January next year, who knows, we may all meet up again!

  • Comment number 91.

@ dorina (88) and anglo (90): Thanks for the warm welcome.

Only had eyes for Aidan, so don't know if Lenora was there, too, or any other of the foursome. To get to this part of the house we were allowed to cross a room were a private birthday party was going on, so Aidan probably was a guest there. They all looked like friends and nobody behaved like having a celebrity in their midst. No security in sight, they were just a relaxed bunch of people scattered about a table. The table and the people were stretching over the whole length of the wall and Aidan was sitting at the far end of it, so that's why I couldn't walk up to him without squeezing in between them and making a fool of myself.

My own entourage didn't know who Aidan Turner is - just one of them remembered a film he had seen him in, but I'll definitely never ever forget that night, and they'll google our hero and find out about BH soon. :-)

  • Comment number 92.

While i think this is a great idea i am worried it will be to like being human. I also hope the two shows don't merge too much as in George and Annie don't turn up out of the Blue very episode and turns out that Christa is George's niece or something. That said i am really excited to see it and shame on me for doubting toby. shame, shame, shame.

  • Comment number 93.

Hello Buzzbrain and welcome to the blog. All I can say is how wonderful to see AT and I'm totally jealous of your wonderful experience.

  • Comment number 94.

buzzbrain...thanks for additional info...sounds like a great party was being had!

MisskateBush ( btw..what ever happened to her...?) hello..not sure if u are new to the blog but hello regardless. Don't think the two shows will merge in that way...we know that one of the new young characters in BH3 is one of he stars of BCH but think that might be it in terms of crossovers.. Many reasons to be optimistic about BCH I think

  • Comment number 95.

Can't wait for the new post with a vid from Russel!

  • Comment number 96.

    Hi Dorina

    (88) "has Aidan developed an entourage?..surely they can't all be his security!"

Probably a large group of ladies of a certain age with heaving bosoms!

  • Comment number 97.

Just a little query for the BH Production Team regarding Becoming Human. For those of us who can't watch videos on the BH website (I keep getting web page error messages) and have to watch on You Tube, will the Becoming Human webisodes be uploaded there at the same time? It's just that I know there are one or two of us with this - or other web viewing problems - and we'd hate to be missing out on the action, particularly if there's a mystery afoot.

    (90) - anglo - no idea if they'll be doing a screening this year (maybe Mr T will be in NZ for costume / beard fittings and axe wielding lessons), but whether they are or not I'm really liking the idea of a meet up. Anyone else interested?

    (91) - buzzbrain, you lucky thing, and all the nicer for being unexpected.

I just love this show. I live in America...........in Georgia. The butt ugly end of racist, homophobic hell on earth. Please dont judge me so quick...sorry to say Im related to many inbred farts in Northwest Georgia. I ran across this fabulous show because our satellite provider just started carrying BBC America. Nobody in

my family understands why I watch this over the other networks. Maybe I just want to go back to britain at least for a short

holiday. I lived in the UK in East Anglia from 1983-1987. I suppose Im writing this because our Time Share condo has options for swaps all over the world. Where are does this yummy vamp supposedly live in your neck of the woods? BTW; we have

TRUE BLOOD................A series that might be like this one...........and its now heading into its 4th year. Im addicted and its a summer thing I wait for.

  • Comment number 99.

Have you seen the trailer for the SyFy version? Dont bother unless you want to be made very angry. Seriously. I think its the "George" character thats the worst - he even (to me at least) looks like he's trying to copy RT's style of acting. I'm slightly offended...

  • Comment number 100.

I cheered myself up with a game we can all play to the promo it goes like this as we have all seen series one and most of us have seen the pilot we can play a different game.

    Name the scene.
from the first meeting of Sally - Annie
Talks about letting the neighbours in
It's a fun and easy game go on try it.
