Gig of the Week: Gifted Live

Post categories:

ATL | 15:25 UK time, Tuesday, 2 October 2012

Hard to know where to start with Gifted Live. Is it a gig? Is it a showcase? Is it a slick TV show? It's actually the best bits of all those things - top notch headliners (usually playing a much smaller venue than they're used to), solid support and quirky onscreen inserts to pass the time between the stuff onstage. Overall - a fantastic way to spend your Thursday evening, whether you make it to The Empire or are simply watching the action online.

Fighting With Wire and Silhouette lead the way as support on the night with Mojo Fury among the acts contributing pre-recorded acoustic material. And this time around they've a real wingdinger of a headliner - legends Therapy?, playing their first Belfast show in some time and their first Northern Ireland gig since that triumphant Glasgowbury headline set back in July.

Who better to make the official invite than the evil preist himself, Therapy? bassist Michael Mc Keegan....

"A NI gig is always cause to celebrate and this should be no exception...in fact the last time we played the Empire was way back in 2000 and that was a crazy old night. We haven't done a 'proper' new album gig over here yet and the record's been brilliantly received so we will be cramming as many new songs in there along with most of the classics. The fact that its a really strong bill and its streaming live is an added bonus and we anticipate there will be T? fans from all over the world having a look. Northern Ireland will be representing!"
