That New Band Smell - Milestones

Post categories:

It's that noisy time of the week again where they let this crazed red-head loose on the airwaves to bring you some delectably decibel-filled tunes and this week we have a great mix of stoner rock, something a bit light and fluffy and some suitably angry hardcore to the balance the scales. All in all a glorious assault on your aural cavities!

Astralnaut : Back To The Bog

Formed from the ashes of Oceanfall, Third Harvest and Stoned Messiah, Astralnaut are no strangers to gigging and have united in a bond or bluesy stoned rock. They say that their inspirations are the finer things in life - rocking tunes, whiskey and beer. The debut Ep Back To The Bog was released recently and will appeal to fans of the likes of local doom laden legends Slomatics

Tonight We Live : Forget The Last Year

Sometimes even I need a light and fluffy moment - I'm only human after all. You'll certainly  never catch me chilling to panpipe versions of Celine Dion tracks, but every so often something on the softer side of the musical scale tickles my fancy and it just so happens that Tonight We Live have managed to do just that. Their melodic rock is filled with great harmonies and  just the amount of riffage to keep a hardened metaller like me interested. Debut EP Forget The Last Year has been the product of twelve months hard graft in the studio and now that it's finished the guys plan to start giggin like there's no tomorrow.

Milestones :  Graveside

This five piece post hardcore act from Dublin are a recent signing to the already impressive roaster of Belfast based Savour Your Scene record label. Keeping it old-school they recently released their EP on cassette, but for all of us who no longer have a tape player there was an mp3 version so don't stress. Their dark lyrics have a certain element of self-loathing misery with heavy bass lines and growling vocals. Having supported the likes of Bury Your Dead they're already starting to make a big name for themselves in the hardcore scene so you heard it here first!
