Memory Tapes: Marrakech Marriage

Assistant Producer

Today's Memory Tape comes from listener Andy Rush from Epson, who wanted to share his wonderful wedding memories with quite a dark, moody, swirling playlist. And completely great it is too. Remember, if you want to send us your tape, then drop us a line to: lauren.6music@bbc.co.uk. And here's Andy:

"Below is the memory tape from my wedding in Marrakech, 8th August 2009. As with most people getting married these days it seems, we deliberated for weeks over the right music to play at the right times. This playlist was played in one of the courtyards where everyone congregated after the ceremony, which was in an adjoining courtyard. My wife and I were joined by 50 friends and family guests at Riad El Fenn in Marrakech where Romy (my wife) and I enjoyed staying on a few previous occasions. The whole weekend was unforgettable.

"The below playlist was playing when we did the obligatory family photos and everyone sipped champagne before moving up to the rooftop terrace to enjoy musicians, acrobats and dancers before watching the North African sunset over dinner and drinks. We later did a Tango first dance to Gotan Project’s Santa Maria (Del Buen Ayre) by which time, it was gone midnight and we were pretty drunk. We managed to hold it together though and everyone ended up in the pool while the DJ played into the early hours. A very romantic and raucous occasion that seems a long, long time ago now, even though as we returned we found out Romy was pregnant and we now have two lovely children. Days of partying in foreign cities might be well and truly over but our two lovely girls obviously bring us untold joy in return!

"Unfortunately we only have a few photos left now as my hard drive died - taking the photos and the music along with it. I’ve managed to get much of it back now but still work to be done."
