I am really looking forward to tonight's episode. I have been reading (and re-reading!) the whale chapter in the new book in anticipation. The suspense is quite overwhelming! Only 4 hours to go!

I found the blue whale episode of the programme to be incredibly emotional on opposite ends of the scale - both uplifting and disturbing. I was moved to tears of joy watching the baby grey whale and listening to the humpback's song. However, this turned to horror and disgust at the whaling footage. The looks on Mark and Stephen's faces told a thousand words. The fact that commercial whaling even still takes place in the 21st century seems completely unbelievable. Aside from the threat of endangering the existence of these magnificent creatures the inhumane manner in which it is carried out is utterly abhorrent. And, of course, the loss of the Yangtze river dolphin is heartbreaking and we have to ensure that we learn lessons from it.
However, on a much happier note, I know I shall have many lovely dreams about Cortez Camp, La Paz Bay and all of the wonderful whales, sharks and dolphins that inhabit such a magical place. That is, until my lottery numbers come up and I can actually finally go there for myself!
