New Coldplay Single - World Exclusive!!!

Brilliant Coldplay mayhem today when Chris and Johnny from the band turned up with the single 'Violet Hill'... I felt we learnt a lot from the interview...Ummm...like how passionately Chris feels about Jayz playing Glastonbury and how annoyed he is with the Glasto knockers... that the band will be playing a free gig in Barcelona as well as Brixton and Madison Square Gardens...and ummm...that's probably about it.

He refused to play in the record himself...refused to say what Violet Hill is about ...refused to answer pretty much any question. They talked about how Brian Eno taught them a lot about life, sex and music and had helped them to make the album they wanted. And they said that they wanted this to be the album that it's ok for people to like. At one time I used to dread interviewing the band because they are so contrary - by they, I guess I mean Chris. You ask questions and you get questions back...but honestly, these days they are the most fun to be around and this morning's chat was full of much laughter...

It must be incredibly scary hearing your song going out on the radio for the very first time - in fact Chris left the studio while it was playing. But the band should be confident - my instinct tells me this is the best thing they've ever done and this album is set to be a classic...

i liked violet hill instantly, which i was surprised at,as it usually takes me 3 or 4 listens to get into a coldplay song, but when i do i love it,this will probably be their most commercial album to date, which won't be a bad thing if they want to reacj out to a younger audience, just hope the quality of the songs don't suffer to achieve this.

"Violet Hill" is so bad, not even the boys at "South Park" could outdo it's lyrical nonsense. As it's all a matter of opinion, and I'm not looking to hurt anyone's feelings, I'll admit to owning the past three discs, which were very, very good. Saw them live, and really loved it. Bought shirts at the show for me two kiddies, who also attended.

Maybe the rest of the album will make up for this clunker.

There is a strong message of hypocracy at Christians at war. Love seems to be replacable by faith/hope in many verses.

    "December" (Christmas?)
"Violet Hill" (Violet is the colour of Christs robe before he was crucified on a hill)

    "Bury me in honor
When I'm dead and hit the ground
A love back home unfolds" (seems to be an expression of hope in the faith of his parents)

    So if you love me
Won't you let me know? (a cry to God for a faith that was lost?)
