Letters home

Do you have any wartime correspondence you'd like to share with us? To mark Remembrance Sunday we'd like to read letters, postcards and emails from the frontline.

It may be that you have letters from family members from World War I and II, or perhaps more recent emails, e-blueys and text messages to/from a loved one serving in the forces abroad.

From big emotional events to the minutiae of daily life, drop us a line on ipm [at] bbc.co.uk

Listen to the story of one very moving letter read on Radio 4's BH programme. The letter was written by 19-year-old Cyrus Thatcher from Reading who died recently in Afghanistan.

Kevin Connolly presents (duration 8.33 mins).

Yes - I shared this Broadcasting House item with overseas families on two different continents - at least my appreciation to Cyrus Thatchers family to the letter being broadcasted. I like different lights on very very grim topics and the excellent reading by Samuel West of the late soldiers thoughts was humbling and caused me a lot of reflection. Nott all of it selfish I hope.
    Thank you BBC.
