    Killed officer warned of shortage

I have read / re-read about our collective failure to once again support our troops with helecopters / with the right equipment etc and cannoy feel but once again our government goes into spin rather than try to solve the problems of our sply lines and supplies to our troops in afghanastan; my concern is I actually believe Brown and co believe what they say - we need to take awy their magic mirror and get them to see reality.
The artical is part quoted below from your news"

Lt Col Thorneloe died in an explosion near Lashkar Gah in July
The most senior British officer to be killed in the Afghan campaign had warned about the risks posed to troops by a shortage of helicopters.

Lt Col Rupert Thorneloe, 39, commanding officer of the 1st Battalion, Welsh Guards, died in a roadside bombing.

The most amazing Programme on BBC 2, yesterday morning and again this evening, Saturdy, The Bearwalker. I have been interested in Animals all my life, and have studied North African Falcons for three years, in Lybia. That programme The Bearwalker was the best I have ever seen, it was just amazing how close Dr. Lynn Rogers, who has studied Black Bears for forty years, could get to these Gentle Giants. He destroyed all the myths about bear attacks and even has,'Come and meet the wild bears at my house' sessions, especially for the folks who are scared of them. Dr. Rogers sincerity in showing how the Black Bears have allowed him to have the first insight into thier daily lives. He has named all the bears he has under study and talks about them as if he is part of thier family and not the other way round. These elusive creatures are not tame but trusting in some one who cares for them and thier wellbeing. Try to show this in schools as it will help youngsters to understand the natural connecting us humans have with the Animals we share this Planet with. Well done BBC this is a classic please show it many more times as it will show that peace can be found the you closer you get to nature, even deep in the Forest. I am now crying it was that good!!!! How much are MPs worth?

Now that Sir Christopher Kelly has spoken, I am sure that MPs will look to adjust their basic pay to reflect the loss of parliamentary expenses. How can this be done without the salary escalating year-on-year when MPs feel that they are least likely to be censured?

May I please make an early suggestion.

** The basic member's pay should be a fixed multiple of the basic rate pension. **

In this way the only way for parliament to raise members' salaries is to increase the basic rate state pension.

    Any good?

I am never quite sure where to leave comments but here goes. I am incandescent about the amount of piped music I have to listen to. This is becoming a major national problem, in shops, pubs and (believe it or not) Banks now!! And over the phone. I would like to link this to so-called climate change and ask how much energy is spent (wasted) each year playing this unwanted music? If we said a million places playing such and each using a kilowatt a day (a low estimate I would guess) then this would be 1000 MegaWatts day (I think 1MW = 1000 kilowatts) this is close to 500 000 MW in a year. Is this even close? How does it compare to power station output? Remember, whatever the figure it is ALL WASTED and contrubutes to all sorts of problems, maybe climate chnage, habitat loss, other forms of pollution etc.

WHY? WHY? WHY? does Eddie Mair keep making this appeal for trivia from listeners? What's the appeal of all this trivia? Does the BBC not have newsgathering services? Is there nothing too trivial for Mair to want to know about it? Why can't we have a proper news programme instead?

Any chance that Dimbleby's bullock could be let loose on other current affairs presenters?
