Staying Out for the Summer?

Rupert Allman | 10:12 UK time, Wednesday, 29 July 2009

Summer Weather ..or playing games in the rain?

Ahem..the outlook is not quite as bright as first thought. But are we really going to let a few damp days and a bit of swine flu get in the way of the Great British holiday? No, we are not. Please use this space to share with others how it is possible to create our own "sunshine indoors". Preferably, something for all the family. Leave a comment or email ipm@bbc.co.uk

    1) I can only get into this topic via Topical Posts because the banner conveniently covers the title and Comments link...

    2) Are you really suggesting we create an iPM beach?!

( 2 ) of course, the iPM beach - I should have said! What a great idea - but we still need some ideas on what games we should play. Rupert

TWIC - somewhat puzzlingly, although you're only allowed one BBC blog ID, each different BBC blog appears to have a separate post counter - so although you may be a regular in one blog (e.g. weekday PM), for the first few posts you make in every other BBC blog (e.g. iPM, dot.life) you will be treated as a "newbie".

Righteo, the iPM beach. For reasons of practicality, it's just the other side of the headland to PM's beach, so has a very similar climate and tide patterns. Nonetheless, it is different, so the various features will have to have different names.

Given the predominance of navy blue around here, I'd say it would be a logical colour for the hammock. We'll need a bar...but who to name it after? Perhaps an ex member of the iPM team?

The current contributors are Chris, Eddie, Rupert and Jennifer - but according to this:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/ipm/2007/10/the_ipm_team_1.shtml

Marc, George and Peter have also been involved. As Marc has been involved with 'regular' PM, and been immortalised in THAT song ("Meanwhile Marc without a K / Is working tirelessly all day"), how about naming the bar after him?

I can't see any camels on this iPM Beach, I guess they don't swim round the headland from the PM one. May I suggest instead newsmonkeys, scampering around whispering everyones' news to each other?

I believe they can also be enticed to put the iPM kettle on.

Although, come to think of it, the kettle idea's pretty fine too. Anyone for White Tea with a hint of Pomegranate? It's my tipple of the moment.

By the way, how come my first comment's still awaiting moderation, but my second went through straightaway??

And I might have a story for your first newsmonkey press release SSC, it's about the crazy bunch to whom I've been paying insurance premiums on A's mobile for the past 5 years who have decided that "The agreement terminated itself in June as it had been running for 5 years and we took our last payment from you in May. Haven't you had a letter yet?". No I haven't had a s*dding letter, and when was A mugged and duffed about in Portugal you ask? July 16th....*grumble, shout, stamp*
