What's you first thought when you wake up?

Can you remember your very first thought when you wake up in the morning? An iPM listener who's also a psychologist, thinks it may be quite revealing. Send us your thoughts and we'll have her take a look.

And drop us a line if there's something you heard in the news that you think needs a closer look. Or pick up on an idea from last week. All suggestions welcome.

Hello, I went with a group of friends to Newmarket on Friday night and we had a good night out especially watching Kid Creole and the Coconuts he still knows how to get an audience moving, he needs to make more appearances because we really appreciated it. Curiosity Killed the Cat also did a great set and we wished they'd stayed on longer, sadly they went off and we suffered a feeble performance from Johhny Hates Jazz. It was one of those moments where the atmosphere built up was rapidly dissipated, give it up lads!
Other acts were fine, only my opinion as I was never a fan first time around. Carol Decker also had a split in her black trousers and had made the mistake of wearing white pants, oh dear luv not a good look.
Not sure if anyone is interested in this 80's review but hey perhaps the people who it reviews might be.

The need for a 3rd runway could be resolved by moving commercial operations to a new airport close to road sea and rail. Would reduce

sense when car brakes have improved beyond all recognition.May increase
revenue from speed camera's which are set to flash at 10% over posted limit. More drivers will loose their licence , their job their home

a car is a essential tool of life , for access to shops , Dr's or getting

Hi, Eddie. Any chance of drawing attention to the Petition to save analogue radio over at "Number 10"?

For the last 100 years young boys have been introduced to electronics by building a "crystal set"; now the Gov't is trying to legislate them out of existence. Sign the petition - you know it makes sense.

Why do people hold such anti home education ideas? I home educate, but when I tell people they say things like "You can't do that, your not a teacher" and "what about socialisation?" If I was to send my child to a private school there wouldn't be any issue, so why do people find it so offensive that I want to home educate my child.

In the debate about digital radio I never hear about how power hungry DAB radios are. My old analogue radio takes 3 batteries and they last several weeks before recharging. My DAB radio (which has rubbish reception here in Kent) takes 6 batteries and they only last a few days between recharges. Clearly digital radio is going to add to our carbon footprint. May not be a lot compared to driving but we are talking about millions of radios.

    8. oldsepticsam - these scams only catch the greedy, something for nothing is the clue. And there is no need for a third runway, there is a need to reduce air traffic though, especially frieght such as fresh vegetables from Africa or S. America. Stop buying those at the supermarket and the 'need' for a third runway evaporates.

    10. charlhrdy - you might be a better home schooler if you knew that '...your not a teacher' was wrong. How about you're not a teacher?

    Dear Supporter

I've had to take dead birds to the vets many times before, but this time I had a real sinking feeling. Minutes after handing over the limp corpse I was staring at an X-ray, which confirmed my worst fears.

I could see 11 pieces of gunshot in what had been a magnificent, female peregrine. She had been slaughtered most probably on her nest. The inscribed metal ring on her leg gave a tiny insight into her life. She hatched seven years ago in Shropshire and, at the time of her death, was in her prime. Quite probably, she had chicks that depended on her and will now starve.

I felt sick and disgusted. How can people stoop so low?

2009 has been a terrible year for cowardly crimes against birds of prey, including eagles and peregrines.

With your help, we can stop this illegal killing.

Sign a pledge now to save our birds of prey.

I work in the RSPB's Investigations team and this has been one of the worst years I can remember.

In the last few weeks, barely a day has gone by without the RSPB getting a call about peregrine persecution and other crimes against birds of prey including golden eagles. It's shocking that in the 21st century, these fabulous birds are still routinely shot, trapped and poisoned. And we know who's doing it; largely gamekeepers on shooting estates and farmers with deranged ideas about birds of prey killing sheep.

An item on the show could spread the word.

As an "early adoptor" of DAB both at home an in car, i am still very sceptical about the analogue switch off as reception is so "iffy".
Specifically, I would like IPM to investigate as to what happened to reception in the East Midlands on Wednesday morning 1st July. Was it a transmittor problem or atmospheric conditions. I couldn't get any of the normally available programmes.

I was actually shouting at the radio when I heard this news item the other morning (Tuesday, I think) and wrote the poem (well, rhyme...)below within an hour of that. However, this has been my first opportunity to commit it to writing.

Balls by name; balls by nature
Im trying hard not to hate ya
But I heard the news today, oh Ed
And you are messing with my head

Tony Blair thought schools were nice
Education, so good he named it thrice
Gave LEAs cash, gave parents choice
To drive Emily to school by Rolls Royce

Now Emily thinks its the way to go
She never walks, its far too slow
They spend forty minutes in a queue
    Passing neighbours she never knew

Daddy curses the authority, he says
Why cant they keep this road clear for me?
Now he gets stressed and she gets bored
Driving to a school they cant afford

But its Ofsted report says its jolly good
And its in a nicer neighbourhood
Shame the schools so far away
And Emilys friends cant come to play

Its all for her good; we love her so...
Must remember to let her know
Were always so pressed for time, you see
Still, she has her games... and her own TV

And so it goes on, Dads internal chatter
He gets guiltier, while she gets fatter
They drive to ballet, to gym and swimming
But cant understand why shes not slimming

Then comes the news; Dad knows what to do
School does too little PE well sue.

Now theres a postscript to this tale
Of how one school was seen to fail
The policy that invites such ignorant calls
Shares its makers name: its Balls.
