I was made aware that via several "flyers" and a petition sheet in a bookmakers, that BBC Horse racing is under threat.

But it was the petition that intrigued me. I note I am thinking defensively now and in signing up to various good causes - we seem to be breaking several of our other rules on "identity theft".

As I said. There was the petition with signatures and full addresses and telephone numbers lying on the counter to have my details added to it and I thought - No!

The thought of data records via CDs and data sticks being left all over the place came to mind. lol

Can we have a story that may lead to a Petition - issued individually to those wanting to sign it and then locked safely away again - to safeguard petitions and "those who sign it in support"' details?

"Bring it on" as someones Tee shirt said just now. And I will sign up to that.

How many Mothers' Day cards will be undelivered this weekend because people forgot to check the size of the card and so put the wrong postage on it?
I was in the post office before Christmas behind a lady who as paying over £1 for a card that was sent in such a manner. She was not happy to find that it was from an estate agent who sold her house!!!!
This silly system of sizing of thin letters and cards is getting worse. Or am I alone in thinking this?

Watch out for more amusing conflict between the Government and the judges!
All governments wish for control, but the present one is particularly paranoid, wanting to reduce all decisions to a simple matter of tickling one of a carefully controlled number of boxes. Independent-minded judges who refuse to toe any sort of party line are always going to be in the front line of its perceived enemies. At the bottom of the problem is a profound distrust of professionalism because it is seen as elitist and expensive. If only decisions could be simplified to box dimension then not only could anyone could do the job for peanuts, but power could be removed from the hands of those who criticise the consistent failure of politicians to produce proper well-thought out legislation.

On the 29th of December 2006 the British Government made a payment of £42.430 million to The US Government.

That was the finial payment of the £3.8 billion loaned by the US government in 1941 to enable Great Britain and allies to continue the fight against the Nazis during Word War 2.

I think it is now time for the US Government to pay us the nigh on £3 million they owe in outstanding London Congestion Charges!

I wonder if there will be any journalist at the forthcoming visit in April by President Obama that could ask the question?

Concerning the GCSE science news story. The school which my children attend moved from teaching double science (2 GCSE) to triple science (3 GCSE) with the change in the curriculum without any increase of teaching time. This has always indicated to me that the course is easier than the previous one.
